I was detained in Burma (Myanmar).
I didn't know one couldn't take pictures of buildings and government officials.
I wasn't even trying to get them in the photo, it was accidental.
I crossed over from Northern Thailand as a tourist just excited to be in another SouthEast Asian country and started snapping pictures and getting cool shots.
Got detained, pictures erased and had to pay a hefty sum to cross back into Thailand 😔

but you know, rhino horn is used for very very rare childhood convultions due to certain type of high fever. the reason why it is collected is not really due to medicine, but due to status. and those who do use it for "medicine" use it for the wrong illness, who spread these lies about their use? merchants during the Qing dynasty, after the British pressured Qing government to lock away the classical medicine books, people started to make things up to try to sell the most rare and expensive things to rich people. without the books no one can claim they are lying, as these accusations without proof was very serious in Asian culture.
probably 99% of herbs used in traditional medicine are commonly found plant matter which is also proven to be quite effective.
on top of all this. actually rhino horn and pangolain scale is not used in traditional medicine in Asia. it is a banned substance and alternatives are available (although extremely rarely used) for the once in a decade condition where it is useful. why is it not used? because classical texts have been put together through the joint efforts of Korea and China since the 50's and now all those falsehoods are called out, and the ppl who made up their own styles of medicine simply call it a "well gaurded family secret" but actually we all know someone made a mistake passing on information or just made something up during those 300 years gap of accountability.
also, more creatures go extinct due to beef production. by far. the US beef trade is the number 1 reason for amazon destruction. and one of the leading casues of green house gases. if you had a burger in the past few months, you are worse than the ignorant people buying those rhino horn, as the rhino still exists. the damage to the rainforest makes an species go extinct every few minutes....

On my visit to Beijing and Nagasaki(Japan) I was poked many times for being a vegetarian.I think me doing that has very miniscule effect on the betterment of ecology or climate but the real force in commitment of mine and millions of fellow Indians is ethical- the force of Compassion.We serve as a bulwark against any brutality against animals in India.With absence of such compassionate forces in East Asian Countries there have been rapid depletion of wildlife world over.There used to Tigers roaming in China but now no more.Infact most of the East has turned into super graveyard for all mammals except for the humans.If it is the situation of compassion and nonviolence in the Buddhist East-Asian countries I am really glad that buddhism disappeared in my country where it originally originated.

I live in China and married to a Chinese woman, and can attest that she is a gambling addict and gambles online all the time, everyday and I have reached my limit on that and will probably break up with her. She is always in debt, refuses to work (we have no children) and does what she wants and expects me to pay for it.
Chinese have no respect for animals and have these ridiculous “cures” and potions and whatnot, shit like snake wine and other ridiculous things. This is why all these endangered animals are being slaughtered. That baby bear will be slaughter for its glands, the glands supposedly (it doesnt) inproves sexual potency or some nonsense.
Sounds about right. I have little respect for Chinese who continue this way. There are groups who work to save dogs from the dog meat industry in China and it's my hope that they do this out of love for the animal, not for the money from their American benefactors. Another problem is the over-population and the resources they use to prop up all these people. There are some people there who don't get married which adds to more children and the problems of over-population. Hopefully, this will be done on a large scale as we move into the future.

They endanger the worlds animals for their cultural beliefs in Chinese traditional medicine. The second point is that most of the rich people made money RMB in illegal, under the table ways without paying tax. A lot of these gamblers a.k.a (政府官员） are using the citizens money. Nevertheless, I do have lots of chinese friends who were born in Hong Kong and in Australia. They are very nice people and we have a lot of mutual respect.

As a foreigner living in China. It is not fair to only judge China for bad things happen in the world.
I do condemn animal massacres, dog killing, organ etc, invasion to small countries, illegal fishing.
But there are still innocent people live in China peacefully and not even knowing about what happen to the world. Or what their government do.
As long what I know. The people here are also innocent, most of them don’t eat dog. U can barely see dog meat in Chongqing city. They mostly are honest (for example they still tap the bus card even at some point they can avoid it because too many people inside the bus.) , okay I dont talk about business people selling item). There are always some scammers I know.
