We used to go with the children every year in the 90s. It was fantastic. The jousting was very entertaining. The serpent train round the edge. Tower of Terror was great. The falconry displays. Ghost train just inside on the left. Somethimng for everyone. It was a shame it closed.

I loved this place as a kid, The tower of terror got me over my fear of inverted roller-coasters due to the loop being hidden in the Tower and not finding out until I rode it.

I’ve got some really fond memories of this theme park. My last visit there was in 2012 and I remember it was a lovely sunny day. It always blows my mind how you can go to somewhere and regularly visit, yet one day you don’t realise it will be your last. It’s sad.

I was lucky enough to live round the corner in Coppull and could walk to Camalot from my house with my friend in the late 80s early 90s. We used to get discounted tickets because we lived so close. The Beast is still my favourite Dark ride. Tower of Terror is where you would find us all at the end of the day getting off the ride and then running round to get straight back on again. Great memories.

Darren, this must be the first time when you did photo fades that the old and new were both in color. Sad that the park closed, people today spend WAY too much time indoors sitting. Without places like this to go to kids find a way of getting in some sort of mischief. All the people that paid a visit Camelot will always have the memories. Thanks for your time and effort you put into your work. Breaks over, back to work for me....... lol

I have so many good memories of this park. I remember an attraction called "Roller-Quest" in the entertainment complex. I pushed through all the other kids to scan the sensors on the wall and achieved the daily high score and was given a complimentary baseball cap from one of the staff. The tower of terror was an amazing ride for a 10/11 year old, I remember falconry displays near the castle that surrounded the loop of the coaster. The live jousting tournaments were absolutely epic. So sad when I heard about the closure as I would love to come here as an adult. Probably my favourite theme park.

Darren, I absolutely love your video content. As an enthusiast I love the theme park and amusement park content, mixed with history and fascinating information. Your other historical content is also very interesting and highlights great places to go explore and visit. Yet again, the photo fades add massively to the content and are done so well. There’s an air of sadness, for something we’ve lost and will never get back. Thank you and keep it up. There really isn’t anything else like this on RUclips 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Another superb video Darren, and i can't wait to see the rest of the series.
The irony that the new rollercoaster was refused planning permission because it was slightly higher than anything existing on the park, and would spoil the landscape, but when driving past on the M6 Motorway you could clearly see the existing rollercoaster anyway so what difference would it make! It was a local landmark.
If only they had seen fit to dig down 10ft, the new coaster would've been ok to build!
I'm guessing not enough money was passed over in brown envelopes so they refused it.
Camelot was a brilliant day out but, it was badly managed and never changed with the times. Also, the opening hours were very restrictive so it was a mad dash around to try and get on every ride there when it was hugely expanded, rather than a relaxing & enjoyable day out.

As for the local council they won't allow houses to go onto the old park, they want a new park built, however I think that this will keep going on for the remainder and nothing will get sorted which is very upsetting, I look forward to part 2 of your visit!

I visited in 2008, mainly for Knightmare which was a great ride. I didn't think much of the rest of the park and I remember the food been terrible. The photo at 2:20 if I remember would have been taken from the top of a child-friendly, catterpillar coaster if it existed at the time, because this one and a log-flume was there in the exact corner, by mid to late 2000's, flume being possibly behind the photographer, jousting ring would have been to their right, at the other end, earlier in the 00's it was used more I guess, when I was 10 or under, but not used by 2010/11 when I went there in last year or two of secondary school, just sat there for lunch I guess.
Cant exactly remember going on that ferris-wheel but it was there when I went around. The line on the slope behind it was for the dragon-ride, going round this hollow, with some wooden ramp/path leading past it's station, just behind the jousting ring and the swing ship that mum reminds me of, having had to accompany me on when very young. Though there was some stuff behind this hollow, past the dragon station, excalibur, ghost train and extra go-carts maybe?

Great video! Loved The Ultimate! Such a unique coaster, being so close to the ground made it feel fast. Such a shame LWV made the decision to scrap it, totally the wrong decision in my opinion, nothing to draw in the crowds now, can't see the park lasting for long, it will be another Camelot before we know it.

The Beast 😃 forgot about that. Went many times as a youth in late 80’s early 90’s. Shame it isn’t there now as my 5 year old wants to go to a theme park that isn’t the pleasure beach again (as we live right near it) , but anything else is a fair drive away and she hates long journeys. 😅 I remember the first time I went as a small kid and the rain hammered down all day. I remember going on the caterpillar that day . Went on it just after the lockdowns at gullivers world. . They were only allowed a few people on it at once. They had to fill it with sandbags to make the weight up and give it a big push start to get it going

Great part 1 Darren as all your videos are. I'm not a million miles from there and visited the park more than once as a young boy. Is the car rally track still there? As a teenager to my twenties in the mid nineties when I was driving myself we used to drive up there to watch the rally cars events. Think it's route was over the back of the park?? Also Park hall was a night club!!

I’ve Friend’s in Chester and when we visited them in the early 2000,s we used to go there with our kids . Great rides and the Knights show was very well done .Always feel a bit sad when when I pass on the M6 and see the top of the roller coaster peeking out .

All gone now. Not even the rollercoaster survived.
