The US Government needs to stop giving loans and grants to students under the age of 25. This will drive the costs of attending higher education down. Colleges and universities know that they can charge whatever price they want for tuition if the government is paying for it.
@@yvonneplant9434 True, in STEM or though technical colleges, trade schools, community colleges. Not lib arts and humanities at elite private universities.
College is great to pursue graduate/professional training. But for most students, acquiring a trade or certification is a better alternative. Training at a JC in computers, HVAC, auto repair, fire science, cosmetology, and other services is preferable to earning a BA/BS in something impractical, becoming indebted, and never getting a good job.
Maybe because more jobs are requiring degrees nowadays compared to before? Have employers drop the college degree requirement and less people will go to school.
Each Semester my kids needed to pay $1,000.00. in sports fee. Sports they never participated in or belonged to. That's $8,000.00 wasted on two kids. for 4 years of college. College is a scam. It's better to take that money and invest in a home or a trade. Plus if you have a federal loan. They will take money from their Social Security to pay off the loan. Then still go after the kid.
We just went to an Admitted students meet just for a couple of hours. There were more people from the college than students. BTW, we came out with not much information from the whole meet-up. As soon as I stepped in, I was surprised to see so many people with stands and you there there are handing out flyers.
It’s a double edged sword! They drive up the cost to a ridiculous amount because they know that the government will pick up the tab. Yet, the person who is pursuing the degree may or may not graduate and still has to pay that ridiculous amount back. Some students graduate with so much debt that it takes them a lifetime to pay it back.
Most of the time instructors are not even instructing. Instead, the classes are "flipped" where students are told to read and watch videos before class, which is fine, but the instructors rarely help students understand the material and only assign group activities where students attempt to teach each other. Before class ends the instructor may or may not go over the answers with them. Overall it's a useless and frustrating experience with the blind leading the blind.
College grads make 67% more than high school grads according to Dept of Labor statistics, students entering college simply have to avoid the debt trap by selecting colleges carefully and using strategy such as 1st 2 yrs in community college, etc.
Forgiving student loans allows more doctors, engineers, nurses, and teachers to be available for the population, this lowers the insurance rates and the delays cause by shortages of these professionals. It also allows more cures to be found for cancer, hemopheliacs, sickle cell anemia, etc. Putting Republicans in office based upon the propaganda below just comes back to hurt the average guy, or cancer victim, heart disease victim, etc. It also hurts many areas of the economy where engineers are creating new product and drugs and promoting new job creation, 3D printing, AI, etc. If you dont like lower health insurance premiums, new cancer drugs, more doctors, even the disability and SSI ones, then keep voting for republican lies.
Its now getting to scam levels. Boomers administrators are so greedy robbing from their kids and grandkids.
It's disgusting.
Boomers had their own struggles when inflation was high before. And all through deindustrialization in the late 70s/80s.

Agreed. Stop giving grants/loans anyways.
Yep. But it is all by plan. Making people dependent on the govt is part of the goal.
Why?
Another reason to not go into college there are just many other ways to be successful.
You still need training in something.

Why do people act like going to a college is a life requirement, like breathing and drinking water? You don't have to go to college you know.

Great for current students. Bad for former students. Who pays for this bill?
It's not always worth it. Debt is just too great and you're not guaranteed a job.
Some college grads make very little, too, and they are stuck with debt. Everyone has the right to decide what is best for them, in the end, though.

Universities are just a business. No reason to have so many for profit universities. USC should close.
In the UK same issues now, agree that we have been sold a lie that a degree is the golden ticket. Getting a trade plumber, electrician, builder etc.
