It kind of defeats the purpose of carrying concealed, if you have to tell the hotel front desk that you have a weapon.

In room hotel safes are a poor choice, often times an administrative setting hasn’t been changed from the factory and often have a hidden keyway that can be opened with a jiggler key available on sights like wish, ali babba, etc.

And if they aren’t fastened down many of them can be opened with something long and thin threw a mounting hole from the back.

Use the DO NOT DISTURB sign 24/7... And do not use maid services. Clean, maintain and restock the room yourself.

Almost all hotel room doors have a peephole. Use the peephole to visually check out a person knocking on your door -- don't open the door, even if you have the chain engaged.
Be low profile. If possible, use a gun case that doesn't look like a gun case.

    Keep your tools on you.
Your hotel room IS your domicile the same as your house, apartment, condo, vehicle.
That being said; those steel lock box handgun safes are handy to keep unauthorized hands off your stuff if the need arises to leave the room without your tools, although it's still a bad idea.
I travelled to Commifornia and had to use the lock boxes for my pistols while driving and transporting to and from my hotel room.
As soon as the door was shut you better believe those tools were out of the box and on my person.

Only thing I would add would be an early warning device, I bought two it looks like door wedges that you can put in front of the entryway. When the door is opened it sets off a very loud alarm giving you a couple of extra seconds. I always bring my EDC firearm, an additional handgun (Glock 19) and my AR15 pistol that has a Law Tactical Folder on it. Why so much? Well my EDC very rarely comes off my hip and if I’m away or out of the room my wife will have access to the Glock 19. The A.R. pistol is well why not be prepared! IMO

This is why I travel with a clamshell travel safe. It works for TSAand attaches to the frame/handle in the suitcase, it works to safely and securely attach to the seat frame in any rental car and it works in hotel rooms to attach the safe to a fixed object. All while being cheap, small and light. It also has room to use clear packing envlopes stuck to the side to hold TSA/Airline documents and/or unloaded firearm declaration cards and a card with my name, flight info and phone number should contacting me be needed after check in and before a flight.

If it's an overnight stay I won't leave it in my car. Hotels and motels are the worst for MV burglaries and stolen vehicles.
If I'm staying longer then a night I'll carry concealed while I'm there and no one is the wiser.

Leaving anything that you don’t want touched by others in a room that many others have keys / access to, is making poor choices. This includes any safe or lock box that they provided. DND means, the most respectful and law abiding will allow me my privacy. To the rest, it simply means that someone is checked in. If you have something worth taking and there is someone in the vicinity with the desire to do so; they have cased you, the room, and security for their opportunity. If you leave them the opportunity, they will exercise that, and it’s on you. You can’t determine the level of criminal that may be near you at any time. You can determine what they have access to.

I've had to use my firearm in the middle of the night I caught two guys trying to steal the wheels off my brand new car it was a prelude a fire and shot next to them they took off I packed my stuff went to the office and the security guard that was supposed to be on duty riding around had his legs up on the counter sleeping in a chair so I just left . When I'm traveling I've been in quite a few situations that could have went wrong with nothing happened it's rough out there have to watch your back you have to have eyes in the back of your head thanks for the video brother it was good maybe think about what you were saying it's so true

Keep in mind that consistent use of the Do Not Disturb sign on your room is going to raise a flag per the DHS provided training to those in the hospitality industry. They are going to think the worst, and it's not that some law abiding person just wants privacy. I'd use a non-hotel safe means of locking my things up especially in a way that didn't indicate what was inside. TSA locks are also very easy to open so avoid them too. Make sure to let the staff do housekeeping services daily so you don't wrongly end up on their bad guy radar.

    • @roybiv7018

Travel safes with a cable lock are a good idea. I have a Snap Safe XL one.
I asked the Front Desk Manager about DND signs, she said nobody cares. She said that some people are "green" and just reuse towels and sheets, some people work during the day from their hotel room and don't want to be disturbed, among other things, and then there's people like me, who are just very private.
Having worked in several hotels myself, I would say most don't care about DND. It might matter if you haven't had any interaction with the front desk or other amenities, while staying solo, and having a long stay, and or looking depressed or creepy, so:
be polite, set a wakeup call, charge your meals to your room, and when you do get service, _leave a tip for the maids & maybe a nice note_
