@@FreshCapMushrooms they are really great about not pushing thier product. I love this channel because it's informative, and I never feel like I'm being "sold"
I think that’s what makes Freshcap different. Their love for educating us goes beyond them trying to sell their products to us. Pretty much all their videos are just about everything mushroom without seeing them push their stuff. I subbed and bought from them simply because of that.
I agree, it gets old sometimes with other RUclipsrs how much time they spend on telling you to buy their product, but having the information easily accessible for interested people that are looking (like a link in the description) I think would be acceptable to most people. I for one enjoy a channel that is happy to share the info without pandering :) thanks for being a chill place to learn stuff!
Thank you Tony, the first time I watched one of your videos about understanding mushroom supplement labels hit home and made a lot of sense. After that I have exclusively used fresh cap products.
Thank you for producing this very informative video! I found the part about testing for active components especially interesting. I often see lion's mane mushroom supplements that list the beta-glucan content, but not the hericenones and erinacines, which are its main active components. When I've asked vendors why this is, they often say that it is difficult and costly to test for hericenone and erinacine content, but relatively easy to test for beta-glucans. The reasoning being that if there is a high beta-glucan content, that proves that a good extraction was done, and so you can assume that there is also a high hericenone and erinacine content. However, as you stated, there can be beta-glucans in the grain that the mycelium is grown on. I would feel more confident that a supplement is effective if it was possible to test for the active components. What would it take to test for hericenones and erinacines directly? Thank you.
Can u do a video on how u make ur wide array of supplements & how or where u go to test them? Is there industry standards of what to put on supplement labels, etc?
Interesting thing, host defense affects me differently than your lions mane. It's also a different lighter colour, I like theirs better but I like your cordyceps better because they give me more energy that host defense, weird how that is.
@@FreshCapMushrooms I honestly still don't understand this "no-myceliated grain" thing. I mean, apparently there are multiple benefits to the myceliated grain by itself. I certainly find it to be more than reasonable to assume that it is true that for everyone the response to everything is different and that one should therefore try both types in order to see what's best for him/her, but if that's the case why are we still dissing the myceliated grain? I'm actually asking this because I'm no expert but it seems that the reasoning behind saying that fruiting-body supplements are that much superior isn't that solid for what I personally understood. The already mentioned Host Defense even goes so far to say that the myceliated *(and fermented)* grain is far better and shows various scientific researches for backing up this claim. I don't think Paul Stamets chose to use myceliated grain because it's easier or cheaper, he definitely has the resources and the know-how to make fruiting-body supplements. In any case, I'll soon order some of your supplements because as I said I believe it's only reasonable to try different ones (I also haven't tried the ones from Host Defense yet by the way) but this opposing view on a *theoretically* simple matter it's a bit confusing. I was sure that pleurotus ostreatus could not fruitin at 28°C. Last week I have been surprized to encounter My mushrooms at this temperature!!! Then I will use only my natural mushrooms!
You didn’t say how the extracted mushroom liquid becomes a powder and if drying temperatures matter. Like some powdered plants brag about them having live enzyme activity because they were dried at lower temperatures. Not trying to be critical, just an unanswered question.
Just wondering if there are studies to show the benefit of taking a powdered supplement over a liquid extract of the same species? I've found an article swearing that powdered is superior, and another claiming liquid extract was better. 😕
So the Fresh From the Farm Fungi just posted a video providing lab results that showed his freeze-dried cordyceps fruiting bodies only contained 1/4 of the cordycepin percentage per dry weight compared to the freeze-dried mycelium on rice sample he provided the lab. Very interesting. I guess that the best way to extract cordycepin would be a liquid culture method.
Very informative but also kind of depressing as it seems like the benefits of mushrooms are not accessible to the body without some sort of process to break them down. Perhaps this depends on the density and hardness of the mushroom as i'm growing lions mane which seems pretty soft and I was going to make myself some capsules but have seen comments about chitin with lions mane so I am presuming that simply grinding up the fruits and putting them into capsules is not going to be much benefit?
Isn`t your example regarding the density of the mushrooms the other way arround? Lions mane has a lot of water and ist less density. Since it has more water you would need more fresh mushrooms to extract the same amount of usable compounds. The density does not matter when we are talking about weight and not volume.

Thanks for this video. A couple questions with regards to your products, have you had an objective test report done? It says on your website that you test for heavy metals from your mushrooms deriving from China and Russia. Is there any reports that your customers could read to confirm? I'm sure you can understand the hesitancy andI feel like this would set you apart from other supplement sellers as there are hardly any that have gone this far.

Thanks for the video sir - If I'm honest, I feel like this video made me more confused than i was before What about the specific molecules that produce the beneficial effect, such as triterpenes you mentioned, but not diterpenes and others like the ones from Hericium erinaceus? What of the mechanisms and the grouping of them, and how to decide which ones will be the most effective for the situation? And also please explain how your method for analysing the nutrient label on the back is applicable, for example my mush supplement says in the information that is from the fruiting body and the dosage and nothing else, it doesn't say about beta-glucan or cordyceps extract stuff like that. And you didn't mention the solution to the problem you described at 5:33 with those restraints at play - signed/ Davidson.
I love your videos ;). Now I am trying to fruit lion's mane. Could you tell me how to extract it/eat it proper way that mushroom will affect brain benefitially?
could be! It's hard to say for sure, if it's "full spectrum" then it probably contains a lot of grain, but if it's actually fruiting body and mycelium and the polysaccharides are correct then you are likely good!
Just wondering. Since the ultimate mushroom complex capsules that contain a combination of 6 different mushroom extracts but have a lower quantity of each extract (167mg) in them compared to the individual mushroom extract supplement capsules (1g). Does this mean the effects of each extract in the Ultimate mushroom complex supplements are less than the individual extracts supplements?
Hey question! When taking the “ultimate” powder is it ok to also take chaga and Turkey tail powder in the same day? Or is that overdoing it? Is it better take them all separately? Thanks let me know!

Hi Tony
Hey Marco!!
I was wondering, can you propagate more liquid culture from previous inoculated liquid cultures? If so what generation would those be considered?
Yes for sure! That is a common way of expanding liquid culture- commonly done with liquid syringes to 10 x the amount of liquid culture that you have.
