Plywood Machinery | Veneer Rotary Line

- For the production of veneer, massive logs of coniferous trees are used. In this video you can see how the automatic conveyor line for processing wood into veneer works.

Factories in China and Japan tend to be very clean and well organized. Not sure if this is a new plant, or if new equipment, but there wasn't a speck of dust, bark, or wood waste. Log size was impressive. In America, we are optimized to use smaller wood stock at higher throughput rate. Looks like in this plant, they are using bigger stock at slower throughput rate. The guy making video with his tablet might be part of manufacturing process team documenting work flow for training purposes.

WOW … absolutely the slowest lathe line I have ever seen in my life and I used to run a lathe built in the 1950's... Subash... of course we cut trees.. and we replant them as well...

It goes through the hard knots without popping them out or damaging them. That’s what impressed me.
🤯
How slowly proses! I have worked over 30 years in plywood factory in Finland and we do all so many times more speed. This was like slowly motion...
suppose for *show*purposes the film was running only on 75% speed. you also can see that the rollers and machinery are new. I think this is a *shop*set up for a show factory to impress new customers.
The knife that cuts the log is barely seen in this film, but is the centre piece of the process. Long ago I made "knives" for peeling. Some were 3 metres long. And they had to be true to 1/1,000 of an inch. When the wood is veneered it then goes to either a veneer seller or a plywood plant where the layers are glued and pressed to make "plywood".
Thanks for the info. I have two questions: What is the veneer used for? And what do they do with the "core" of the trunk that's left?
Hello
@@iloirtimusiikista with this new tech machines the core left sometimes be just as thick as a baseball bat . In the olden days in malsysia the core used to be sawn as rough planks used to wrap the plywood and sometimes it was used in the boiler to produce steam . Hope this answers ur question
@@iloirtimusiikista there are 3 kind of veeners
1 face veener for the topmost layer of the plywood normal thickness 1mm - 0.5 mm .
2 long core
3 cross core
Differs in thickness as to produce different thickness of plywood.
Lastly there is LVL where the core veeners are glued in the same direction to produce beams where as plywood is glued cross grains so it forms strong boards
@@niamaaha...4141 Thank you for the information. This is a beautiful video! It's wonderful to see a machine that is "understandable" making beautiful things! I can almost smell that wonderful wood scent!

Congratulations friend, your work was great.
Extremely intricate design, greate workmanship. I do not think I can assemble it even after watching few times.
This is not the complete process . They just show the logs peeled . There is 3 kind of peeling . 1 the long core. 2 the cross core . 3 the face sheet which is 1mm and below .
Then they dry the veneers and compose it by taking out the damage parts
Later glue is spreaded .hot and cold pressed . Then cut into the correct size . What u see here is just the begining of the process . Cheers

No. They already have been debarked. They are being planed to nearly round.

Looks like new plant or company. Machine is not even scratched up yet
Ótimo, muito bom, e o desmatamento continua , deu pra ver o tamanho dos troncos e o tempo que ele levou pra ficar daquele tamanho.

First test run of a brand new machine at the site
this is only the beginning process of making plywood. There is so much more. I spent 10 years in a plywood plant and it gets very dirty.
I grew up beside a veneer plant and in the winter time we burned wood for heat//the mill would let us take the cores which was super clean and was the heartwood. we would burn 3 cords in the winter. My job after school was to cut the cores into stove wood 18 inches long for our furnace.
I'm sure they would not give it away now
wow. great sharing! lot of stuffs can be made by wood

Was this being done as a test of new machinery? Cuz otherwise, this is the slowest plywood plant ever created.

When I was growing up my father was a lathe/planer operator at the local mill , did the same job as this but with more primitive machinery (1970's)

Well, I bet even with more primitive technology his quality control standards where much higher than what is sold nowadays. Does you father still live? What is his opinion on the quality of plywood nowadays?
@@SE45CX I ran a lathe from 1999 to 2008. It was larger and far more advanced than the one in this video. My wife laughs when I'm buying plywood and complaining about how horrible someone was at sharpening and setting lathe knives.
Where is the DJ at? The music was great but I didn't see the DJ. Is he in the same room as the assembly line or behind a glass window up above?
It's a wood theme park - great rides!
Very impressive process ! 👍
Earth will soon suffer without these trees
Lmao. You tree huggers. Bet you live in a house that has plywood or wood table or wood in the walls or frame.. i bet you wipe your ass with toilet paper, which let me tell you comes from trees, so from now on wipe with a rock or a pine cone and tell me how you like it..
Beside that those are planted forest trees
Alot of people dont understand alot of what the right logging technique does for a forest, i own and operate a logging business in ohio, if a forest is cut correctly it improves the other trees, trees are just like any other crop, they have a time when they need to be harvested. If left to long they start effecting and hurting the way smaller timber grows, making it less valuable and it will not last as long or mature as it should.. all logging is not bad logging.. yes some loggers trash the forest but alot have takin class's and understand how to maintain a forest and claim the land
@Khav I'm aware but that's where they need a government to control and regulate the timber industry as America does and I'm sure many other country's. And some of the individuals and company's that are buying that timber are just a responsible for that issue. Not just the loggers to blame here
Classes? Hell son, you can get a doctrait in forestry management!

They dont drill it. Its 2 pieces of wood that are glued together and graphite is installed inside before that.

oh i just know there are wood so big, i am a new be in plywood please bring me another freed back for the future
while I do understand that a factory needs decent size logs to make plywood I find it a *shame that from that kind of trees nothing better could be made? and what happened to the logs at the end of the process? since they are all the same size and thickness could be used for building wooden houses?
