- In this video, Dave tackles a "jumping engine" problem that traces back to a failed front transmission mount - but also finds some other issues along the way, including a code for a bad sensor and a "clunking" noise.....so get ready for what is the first in a "mini-series" of repairs on this great old Lesabre.
The constant sniffling made me start to sneeze...I turned the sound off and was able to finish watching the video. I just now realized these DIY videos don't need sound. The visual sequence is all I need to follow the procedure. Good job!
Sorry for the sniffing! It was really windy and dusty the day I did this and all kinds of stuff was blowing around. Thanks for watching.
Good video, yours on this matter currently is the best.... thank you
@@1331RECIPROCITY Thank you!!
Outstanding, exellent video.
Thanks!
That Buick was flexing its biscuit. :)
LOL no kidding!! I can't for the life of me figure out WHY I kept saying that!! Thanks for watching!
I loved all of the “slipped it biscuit “😂
There is also a transmission mount located on the passenger side that you access by removing the front passenger tire and water shield.
i tell ya what, sounds like you need to eat another biscuit 😂 great video. helped me diagnose my mess 👍
LOL thanks 😁
What are the ramps u got it lifted up on called? Brand name etc I need some
That's a QuickJack 5000-TLX lift. I have another video on their setup. They're absolutely fantastic!!
Thanks im subscribed to u ill check the video out soon ....
@@DIYDaveOK ill check the video out thanks again
Is there any way for us to diagnose which mount is bad because my motor rocks backward and forwards when shifting
@@disownedpuppy1136 It's VERY hard to figure out which is broken. I'm getting ready to edit a video where I replace two other mounts (on passenger and driver side) on this same car.
You are a godsend Dave can’t wait to
I've got that video broken down into a three part series, two parts edited and rendered and hope to get the last part edited tonight. Will publish part one later this week.
At about 0:55 in the video you say you're going to start it, "powerbreak" it... what do you mean powerbreak? Are you accelerating and then breaking hard? In another video a guy I watched would shift from park, neutral, drive, reverse and noticed excessive engine movement. I shifted and it didnt seem excessive but an auto mechanic said my passenger engine/transmission mount needed to be replaced. I'm going to look at the mounts today but I wanted to know how to test it too.
Power brake simply means you keep one foot firmly on the brake and then press the accelerator with the car in drive. Be **very careful** if you try this - do it for only a few moments to perform the rest, and koep that foot on the brake at all times!!!!! Very dangerous if you're not careful!!
@@DIYDaveOK good to know, worst case scenario MY bedroom is right behind the garage so I'll just move my TV away from the wall 👌🏽 thanks for the explanation! Honestly though I'll be safe and try this out, I just got done checking the mounts and they looked fine to me, I think the mechanic I took it into was just trying to make a quick buck.
Ah, the legendary 3800 90° V6 from GM.
I've been trying to diagnose a problem with a 2004 Buick LeSabre. It feels like the wheel is dribbling like a basketball going up and sometimes down hills but at the same time it feels like the tires are solid and smooth on the road. I think it may be a motor mount ...
Hi!! Based on what you're describing, I'd first think about a bad wheel bearing. Those are modular units and aren't tough to replace, just never did a video on one.
it is a good car, having the same thing done on mine.
Do u know the part number of the mount?
Unfortunately, I don't. I had to go to several local parts houses to find an aftermarket replacement, and then found it only by vehicle make/model. I tried to look up the original GM/Delco number but got some conflicting results so I didn't want to risk posting wrong info.
Did that mount affect the shifting?
It definitely decreased the noise, but did not eliminate it.
The aftermarket ones like the break the stud off the top plate. Maybe jb weld around the new one to prevent this and don't over tightened it.
You must have had a cold…lots of sniffling going on!
No cold, but I did notice the sniffing when I was editing. It was actually kinda windy when I did this and I think the dust was bugging me. Sorry about that!! But thanks for watching!
@@DIYDaveOK covid dust. There's so much going on out there that you got to be careful on everything you came and breathed the air out there anymore cuz you don't know what's in it. All right be careful stay safe
@@chaseww LOL no, don't think it's anything concerning like that. I have always had a tendency, even back when I was a kid, to start "sniffing" sometimes when I get hot or sweaty. No big deal at all other than the annoyance factor. Thanks for watching!
@@DIYDaveOK that's okay we all got habits LOL I was only joking. It's no big deal all right take care good luck
@@chaseww Will do!! Thanks for coming by!!
I've replaced all my motor and transmission mounts like three times in two years and it never helps
Dang, that's frustrating! Replaced the control arms?
@@DIYDaveOK man I got a whole new front end at this point except the struts and they go in in two days
Man, struts are about all that's left!
You gotta get a GoPro helmet
@@disownedpuppy1136 Great idea
