I made a plane and one Vray light with 16 sub divs once.
amazing ;o but did you also set shadows, materials and GI to 16 subs then use DMC global sampler to up the quality?
Advection357 No, I turned off GI and just used Adaptive DMC with a 2/8 min max. And then I told everyone all the shadow noise was intentional

Anirudh Nagadikere i think all of 'em made with workstation computers(servers) so its not hard to handle this.
Somewhere there is a home for all the stressed out computers crippled by those heartless professional V-Ray users.

Back in 90s only on Silicon Graphics and Amiga workstations you could do that now you just need 1 good PC workstation hah
Vray is my favorite renderer at the moment
vray is too hard to master , but i suggest unreal engine , quite easy compare to vray

One is a realtime Direct X accelerated gaming engine the other is a software VFX renderer.
is it ? lol maybe im not that into it , yea , its apples and oranges ,though if u master it the result it more or less the same
mel on Unreal engine is actually more difficult to work with than Vray.. believe it or not. Especially the material editor in Unreal is more complex to grasp than Vray. Take a look at some tutorials of vray and Unreal materials... you'll see the difference. Vray you might have a main material and a few maps connected to it... same thing in Unreal material editor would require like 20-30 nodes to get it working.

FAULK VFX ARTIST it's alright mate people make mistakes. title of the movie was The tiger: An old hunters tale. also check out The Admiral: Roaring currents, it's the same actor. And almost all the cgi in Admiral was created using Maya & 3ds Max.

If you look at Renderman's showreel they have heaps of scenes from The Force Awakens.
How long does it take to render a full feature film when my single image takes 14 minutes lol
