I think the big issue here is that you’re looking at them for what they are rather than what they do. Sure, MM and Supes are both aliens, but Manhunter relies heavily on his telepathy and shapeshifting, while Superman mostly leads and acts as a tank. Each of the original 7 fulfill a unique strategic role that can’t be filled by another. Cyborg is cybernetic which means he has an aptitude with technology, but so does Batman, and he’s not even cybernetic.

I know it's sad they put an iconic black character in the background :/ (and the new 52 is more human in a way in my opinion) but I feel like first we need to get rid of the Snyder verse so deriving as far as possible from that is a good marketing thing and secondly will see Cyborg in a teen titans movie probably (if the batman and Robin film goes well)
