I watched Krush Groove last night. Kurtis is the King. Lauryn Hill was a stone cold fox. Yes Yes Yall! Don't sell out to Beaker and let us not forget the Fat Boys. RIP Human Beat Box. We miss ya! Hu hu hu hu!
I remember this song from an old VHS that my parents had with a Best of the 80's episode that was recorded over a Def Comedy show. I was born in the 90s and this was one of my favorites growing up.
I remember when the guys in my neighboorhood would walk down the street or the sidewalk blasting this song from their boomboxes, ( 80's baby) I so miss the 80's and 90's, everything was so much better back then, now its just blah!
On this day in 1986 {January 11th} Kurtis Blow performed "If I Ruled The World" on the ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... At the time "If I Ruled The World" was at position #20 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, two weeks later it would peak at #16 {for 2 weeks}...
He is the king of hip hop, this was one of the first rap song, these are the brakes. than the sugar hill gang and rap was born how do i know I was a teen when rap was born and it was clean....
My 9 year old twins (son and daughter) danced off of Kurtis Blow's "Basketball." I not only told them that THIS is the kind of rap that they should listen to...but daddy plan on playing nothin' but OLD SCHOOL music (1960s - 1990s including a lot of 80s rap) the next cookout that I host. We have to keep old school in our hearts and pass it to the younger generation so that they understand that music is more than the redundant crap that is played today.
I was still a new kat back then, but as a kid from the 70s I felt the 80s and 90s in full force. Miss them times when music was music and dollars and cents were secondary.
Wow what a classic song from best era in music ever the 80's. Been looking for this video for ages, glad its on here. Thanks for posting this classic song. Good times rap without the death drugs and violence of todays music.
Sad that we all have to grow old eventually... Thank you Kurtis Blow for ushering in the age of Hip-Hop, but back in your day it was a bit or a lot more 'dignified'. Hard, yet always flowing melody flow to it...pain, tears, joy, triumph all in one song...cool
Kurtis Blow did this song for Crush Groove. at that time in the 80's, he was the only rapper who could get away with a song like this.i loved it because i was a teen in Harlem when it came out (ya had to be there)and the scratchin' is still some of the best i ever heard w/o computers

Oh this is where Nas and Lauryn Hill get their song from!!!
They also sampled friends from Whoodini and blended it
@@DaRendogxtreme . And blended it with "Walked Right Up to the Sun" by The Delfonics.
@James Demouchet yep. rap was great in the 80s and early 90s!

this is a classic, usually the original is the best... BUT that's why Nas is the GOAT...
still rock it in da clubs
To me, this is like Kurtis Blow's swansong hit.
Let's all pray for him as he's recovering from a stroke he had since Saturday.
Actually my brother he had a heart attack.
Wait is he still alive? Shit...I thought he died. Must’ve been confused or somethin
He’s going into surgery tomorrow 🙏🏽 IG: @kurtisblow
When many people think of rappers who made rap music what it is today, Kurtis Blow usually does not come up. Always rappers who came out after 1986.
That's so cute, you thought NAS came up with this song. >
I love em’ love em’ baby-If I rule the world, this my shit 🥃sips my drink again!! 💃🏽🕺🏽
From the hip hop movie "Krush Grove"
NOS MEUS TEMPOS ESTE SIM ERA FUNK PESADÃO SHOW DE BOLA.

Wow, Kurtis, the Fat Boys, Run DMC, Sheila E... There's probably a couple more that I missed. The 80's and 90's had some fun rap & hip hop.
Who are the scrubs giving this a 'thumbs down?'
Maybe they don't like Blair Underwood?
Keith Witcher The movie Krush Groove...

+TheBrismoore Beats the hell out of being an internet troll.
Or looking for negative reactions by being racist

If you are racist and dont like rap,
