i've never really understood when people pull in shiori losing her duel into a juri/shiori amv- certainly in the greater context of the show shiori losing her duel has a LOT of symbolism related to her relationship with juri but that requires again the context of the show/episode and it's very hard to bring that context into a little amv you nailed it.
same here, I don't think I've heard of this but you can tell there's a lot going on and understand a decent amount through the editing and song choice*, also having that little unedited clip from the show in the middle was a really great decision! I might have to check this show out sometime lol *which I've also somehow never heard but is good as well!
@direcoat hehe thank you, I'm glad if my AMV could communicate some story beats even to non-Utena watchers... and I'm glad you approve the editing choices, that makes me so happy! @ you and the original commenter: Utena is not for everyone by a long shot, it's kind of a comedy with social commentary that develops into full on psychological horror (also touches on and pretty blatantly showcases very sensitive topics that might be triggering for some). I really enjoyed it a lot but definitely need to rewatch it more to pick up on the details of the story, it's very heavy on allegories and symbolism. Made me cry at many points too lol but, a definite classic for good reason!! There's really no other show like it
