I live in gilbert AZ and trust me these guys are loud you better have sound proof windows lol they are loud especially if you have cactus in your front yard and they decided to build a house in your cactus lol..but they are amazing birds I love to watch
We enjoy the cactus wrens in our backyard in Mexico BCS near the Sea of Cortez, desert landscape. These little birds think they run everything, or should, and will tell other birds off, or people for intruding in their self-proclaimed space. Their alarm call lets all critters know when there is a snake slithering around. You don’t have to set your morning alarm here, Mr. CW boldly announces to everyone at morning light that God’s new day has begun!. 😀
I took a photo of one of these birds in the Nevada desert last week, and wanted to share the photo as well as the sound that this bird makes with friends and family. Your video is perfect...excellent sound and very good close-up and resolution. Many thanks.
This was many years ago. The camera was a Canon XL H1 with an on board mic. I also had an 80-400mm Nikon lens with a special adapter to mount it to the camera. It was a tape based camera and Canon no longer makes it. To bad, because it was a great camera.
Ive been playing this thru a Bluetooth speaker outside in the morning. The wrens go nuts. The call at 1:01 is a territorial call and will start bird wars. The call at 1:15 appears to be a mating call. Ive had a few almost land on me while playing that one. Nature hates me lol

One of the most epic sounds in the wild. Specially when it makes a distant echo

“Welcome to my home. It’s hot and dry, watch out for the sharp pointy things, Enjoy your stay here in the desert”
This is great footage, why anyone would thumbs down is beyond me. Well done.
The call of the cactus wren is the bird I associate the most with the desert.
I came here from a post on r/whatsthisbird and I must say, I’m not disappointed
Beautiful, I want to move back to Tuscon now

Great footage, great audio, and great composition. May I ask what camera you use to record?

Yes, and I have learned to keep your distance, or it will get you.
