Thank you Andy for saying the quiet part out loud regarding your reasoning for pick of the week. I think it's safe to say that shopping by emotion is something we all do, whether we want to admit it or not. If you can afford it and it makes you happy, just do it!
I feel like the online guitar community veers further and further into shredding or shred-adjacent, overly complex and intricate. Seeing shred guitars coming back just confirms it for me. Meanwhile I'm out here with my jazzmaster trying to play slow like BB.
It goes in cycles 80s nostalgia is the trend or one of the trends now. I started playing in the early to mid 90s . I remember “vintage” guitars being used guitars used Gibsons and Fenders weren’t as desirable as the shreddy stuff at first and then all the sudden old sunburst fenders and gibsons were back in. Those old fenders and Gibsons will always be the defacto electric guitars in most people’s minds. I’m a metal head so I’m probably biased but I feel like there’s as much guitar gear targeting bluesy playing styles as much as there is shred stuff but the shred stuff and players are quicker to accept new tech and gadgets than the other genres so maybe there’s something to that targeting shred players because maybe they buy more new gear ?
Kids don't learn music since Guitar Hero. They just want to deeedle as fast as possible thinking that is musical. The boo boo fish kid is a great example.
@@CaptainCraigKWMRZ a lot of these youngsters that can absolutely fly also know a ton of theory, it’s impressive that they can play that fast but only to other guitar players and there’s only so much of that even a player can take until you’re like slow down and make me feel something. My pick of the week is the Fryette ZMACS 4x4 head and cab switcher (with open-loop protection, amp direct output, and a patent-pending, programmable, impedance-matching transformer).
I can’t put into words how much I love this channel.. I loved the E echo on every mention of that black star 😂😂 👌🏻… also please never stop Andys pick of the week! Woop woop 😂😂… i’m such a child and I’m nearly 50 😅
If I didn't already have an Acoustasonic (and a JC40 and a CE-2w), I'd be interested in these new ones. I've been very happy with mine, and I do love chorus.
I love the telecaster Acoustasonic. I've owned the player edition since it came out, and the only thing I missed was the humbucker option. Well, I guess that gap has been filled now! :D
With the fun that Kramer are having, I would love to see their take on a headless! Especially seeing as Gibson seems to have all but abandoned the Steinberger brand...
Another week another great video! The Anti is a pretty sick pedal we played with it a lot recently :P Also, that Finneas's signature model has me quite curious! Cheers Andy!
I share your affinity for the acoustisonic- I had pretty much dismissed them until I saw a Jack White show where he played most of the show on the Jazzmaster version.
Finneas holding up the Acoustasonic line himself! I knew he liked them, but I didn't think he would choose one as a signature model! That is some heavy lifting Finneas!!!
The Invader is a one-trick pony. They are so hot that they will hardly clean up at all. Do yourself a favor and buy the JB and then add gain where needed. The Kramer pointy guitars with the star inlays - they were making these for Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi) back in 1987ish.
Yeah, good you didn't pick that Fender hybrid failure for #1 this week. I still can't believe how it got so successful. I ,for sure, would have hit the subscribtion button twice!!!
The Kramer Knight V really caught my attention, my first response was WTF is that monstrosity, who would even conceive that, but I was quickly drawn away from that thought, towards, " Why would anyone ever chose that colour scheme?"
ay man i highly reccomend you to check out sqoe SEIB 550. It's a "superstrat"(mostly RG But has more curve on the body) and it's quite good for it's price costing me below 250 dollars
Vintage humbucker covers changed the tone due to incorrect metallurgy; contemporary humbucker covers only present that problem if they are specifically designed to recreate it.
Temu has had different colored invader style pickups for a while now. At under $20 I almost bought one but i never did. It's almost like reverse copyright infringement.
Covered to uncovered? "If you are a RUclipsr watching, hello". Oh, so, not a video from Andy. Damn. I feel like '80s guitars probably sell well, because the guitar community is oddly always trying to recreate their heroes from 40 years ago. But I just am not down with that concept at all. Acoustisonics are weird. Just saying. Also, you ain't losing my Patreon sub. If anything, being open about why you chose the Anti makes me enjoy supporting you more. The Anti, from the reviews I have seen, sounds great and look great.
Fin Eilish uses those sterile direct sounds. Guitar boomers don't understand that's what many young people dig. Crappy direct flat sterile guitar tones rule in Pop music.
The new Pacer Carrera look cool! Kramer needs to reissue the JK8000 and Mirror Topped Teles now. They should give Kala Kent a signature JK and endorse her as she’s an insanely good guitar player and the only one on RUclips whose main guitar is a Kramer. I still think the acoustsonic is the dumbest thing ever and I still dislike them as much as when they first came out. Please don’t fill my RUclips feed with acoustisonic demos again.
I'd love to own one, but i'd probably buy that weird Gretsch Rancher acoustic with a filtertron pickup in the neck first. Its a very specific model for very specific musicians it seems like
@@versnellingspookie can’t go wrong with a Gretsch I have a white Falcon Rancher acoustic Jumbo and it played better out of the box than guitars twice it’s price by the time I put my own setup on it it’s even better now. I’d definitely rather have the gretsch you’re talking about instead of an acoustic sonic guitars like that don’t sound like an acoustic unplugged and they don’t sound like an electric plugged up nor do they sound like an acoustic/electric full body type guitar either mic’d or and a piezo . The Nylon electric thin line like Ibanez makes for Tim Henson would be my choice if I wanted or needed a thin body acoustic for whatever reason
The new fender finnias actually sounds crap like all acoustasonics! Mediocre acoustic, mediocre electric. Does nothing well. Get your self a proper acoustic and electric and you will have a few bucks left to get yourself a second hand CH-1 and maybe even more pedals for the same price! Massively overrated. Have you ever seen a Tommy Emmanuel playing an acoustasonic live in front of a whole theatre because he’s got issues with feedback? 😂 he doesn’t even use a sound hole cover ffs.. know your eq, notch and phase!
Very often Tommy Emmanuel does use a soundhole cover, and he dimes the internal microphone, and then sets his EQ flat, this is at least what he said to Premier Guitar in his Rig Rundown, this way his microphone picks up all the acoustic drum parts as well as the harmonics. But you're oh so right about the EQ stuff, that is what makes acoustics sound really good. Look up Ryley Walker his video on Reverb their channel, he has such a great acoustic tone, he blends 2 pickups (one LR Baggs and one Piezo) and it is the best acoustic sound i have ever heard
@@versnellingspookie interesting points. You are right, out of the 4 times I've seen Tommy live, at least once he was using a sound hole cover. I think he does only when he really has to or only with certain high-feedback guitars. Thanks for the tip, I will. Also check out Mike Dawes' system. I think he uses a combination of internal mic, piezo, magnetic (for bass only through a separate output) AND a contact transducer system such as the K&K which I have on my Taylor in combination with a piezo. We reached such a high level of amplification these days, amazing technology, however I still think you can't beat a dual microphone system to amplify an acoustic guitar (in a studio/recording situation, not live).
Kramer's 80s shred guitars are back! Are you feeling the retro vibes, or is it a pass for you?
I like the vees
Thank you Andy for saying the quiet part out loud regarding your reasoning for pick of the week. I think it's safe to say that shopping by emotion is something we all do, whether we want to admit it or not. If you can afford it and it makes you happy, just do it!
Cheers Brad. I’m not saying this is the best gear of the week as always. I’m just saying it’s the gear that excites me.
Kramer Barretta. One humbucker, one volume pot. That's all you'll ever need to rock out and change the world of music. EVH style.
Jersey star looks very like Richie Sambora signature strat from 90's
“The tone? That’s my invader pickup in the neck position” said no one ever 😂

Love the channel mate.

the commitment to the "E E E... e e" echo bit is cracking me up
I'm still crossing my fingers for a Squier Acoustasonic model 😂...for like 500-600 ❤
They should've priced the Player series around that price point from the off.

Andy the red pedal clean is awesome check out the starter track on secret weapons…so the red pedal can sing as well as shout
The Jersey Star does come in a Candy Red finish but with a maple neck. It's not new though, it's one from the classic Jersey Star line.
Don`t be mad at me, but these Kramers look like I would expect them in a cartoon ;-)
