I listen to a lot of different music from all kinds of different genres. From black metal to minimal techno, jazz to classical pieces, lo-fi house to video game soundtracks. Over the years, there were only a few songs my heart was tempted to call the best i ever heard. This is one of them.
Smokers Delight by Nightmares on Wax is lush , lovely lushness that's just my opinion I also like the soundtrack to Oblivion by M83 ,correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pissed , that's a bit of class 🍺
The only thing more pleasurable than listening to this for the thousandth time is being there when someone else hears it - and loves it - for the first time. That happened to me a few years back when I was giving this 16-year-old kid a lift on this misty-rainy late afternoon back to his house and I could see in my periphery that he was digging the tunes .. it was a mellow rainy-day shuffle I'd been cobbling together with some Jim James, John Martyn, Massive Attack to this ☝and half way through this one he cracked and said "What *is* this?" That's a wonderful moment.
Make the most of it. At 40 you are just realizing how awesome you are and how much incredible possibility still lies before you... I was buying this CD at 34..... I'm 59.... talk about a good cry ... 😭🙏😎

Lol One of my trips to Amsterdam I spent two or three days just going through record shops all over the city and I would just randomly grab stuff that sort of sounded interesting just from the title of the artist a lot of the compilations one of the best ever was a supper club compilation album with all these amazing artists I'd never heard of I still have that stack of CDs and all that music in my computer and it was one of the best musical discovery experiences in my life was just wandering around Amsterdam record shops alone and grabbing stuff on instinct taking it home and then listening to it all and finding so much of it was f****** awesome..😊
This song means one of my best times of my life... My first love, my first apartment and first brain adventures! The Moon Safari is so important to me, some people may don't understand! But I always cry when I hear and feal the song now and ever..😊
What i like is how this whole song is pretty much just the ending acoustic guitar melody of les professionals they pretty much made a full song out of an outro thats awesome engineering

Every couple of years seemed to herald a new genre which the mainstream hooked onto. This song will forever remind me of driving to and from work, still desperate to listen to all the incredible music coming out at that point. Air, Zero 7, Portishead, Moloko, Orb... 2 years later it was Incubus, Nickelback, Staind, and Linkin Park. As a Gen X'r I'll always cherish the 80's, but the chillout era was the reinvention of Mike Oldfield and Kraftwerk and Gary Numan. This song in particular will stay in my heart always as the pinnacle of chill electronica.
It's funny but I'm a big fan of chillout since like 2002 but I never listened to Air for some reason. I heard this this year and really enjoyed it.

@@rayc2680 Hm. I find that I select tracks to mirror my emotions. If I'm angry, I tend to listen to really heavy techno. How about sadness ? Any joyful song sounds shallow and naive when I'm sad. Is it just me ?

I'd go for 90's Boom Bap or Rapcore if angry, but I find it fascinating how a "Happy" song that brings whimsical joy can seem pandering and pointless when you want to went out sadness and emotions. The early albums from "Low" is what I'd cry to ... while Carly Rae Jepsens music is what you'd feel like bliss and full if joy.
