I'm guessing those are non union rates cause I know for a fact that those averages are way off. An apprentice makes about as much as the "top" rate with overtime included. If you're a journeyman you're definitely making well over 100k without overtime.
Is about right.. union job for THESE painters.. I thought California golden gate bridge crew made MORE than me ( I was union steel painter out of STL).. they don't travel so no per diem $.. also they are working local so no rush to get it done.. around 2004 I made 32 an hour.. plus 65 per day per diem ( travel).. but we worked ALOT of overtime.. union wage depends on where your out of.. California union was only at 25 an hour back then..and the guys that work on same bridge year around are " maintenance"..so they don't have overtime option.. they take care of rust issues as they happen..( band -aid).. the big $ crews travel.. blast / paint whole thing..then travel to next location / repeat / infinity.. total redo..my family did bridge/ water tower work for years I did some roller coasters.. was a blast
I thought it seemed super low. This is a high risk job, that not just anyone can do. I would hope 70k would be the STARTING minimum. 31k - not worth it.
That's why there is a huge movement for unions in the US right now. Biden is also walking picket lines in support. Unions protect workers and ensure good pay. That's why people in red states whose R politicians pass 'Right to work' anti union bills are the poorest in the country. #DemsSupportUnions
I’ve been to the top of two Bay Area bridges on private tours and it was amazing! I was hardly nervous at all. I loved being up there with a panoramic view. It would be a bucket list item for me to go to the top of the Brooklyn or GW bridges.
i worked for a billboard company, i was working the top of a 120 footer, 12 feet below me on a five foot wide catwalk was my coworker..I was talking to him as he stepped back to eyeball the sections, he walked off backwards, his eyes looking at me..back then we didn't wear any safety gear nor were we required to..They say he died instantly, i turned away..Iwas 25 years old, he was 32..luckily it doesn't haunt me..

I figure that black dude is in his mid-40s. Which means he likely had a black grandparent who grew up in the US in 1930s. Which means that black grandparent probably lived in the southeast US. Which means that black grandparent probably lived as a dirt poor sharecropper earning their daily bread by toiling out in the cotton fields of Georgia. Can you imagine what a workday must have been like in the July sun in a cotton field in Georgia? I'm sure he heard plenty of stories about it. Maybe that is why he feels like he has the best job in the world.
The more dangerous a job is, the higher the pay should be. Just my opinion
Ok but you know that they make an average of 140k a year. That reporter was lying.
id totally pass the test as even watching the video safe from home was hard.
2:30 there you go flat earthers you can see earths curvature
The things people do for money
Its fish eye camera, doesnt prove anything..

Drebin_0930 yeah one of my union reps was a bridge painter. He made about 140 a year. I don’t know where these numbers are from

Damn straight these numbers are way off. It's an injustice to put us on the news for half what we make in local 806
@@painterken2542 in NYC definitely
71k a year is way off. That's about half what a bridge painter out of local 806 working year round makes. And we deserve every penny.

A crew of only 16 u could say these guys have the ultimate job”
“These guys actually have the balls to do this

good day to everyone, I worked on painting bridges in New York, good luck to everyone.

Where was this?
$30k/yr in NY is nothing! I can make that down here on the ground.
goddamn, we got it good in NY. 31k is a lot to these goobers in other states....sad but true.
@@justamangoddamn $30k/yr is barely above poverty in the south. Is absolutely nothing in NY.
@@RonSavage01 cost of living is cheaper so its goes further in the south.
this is actually probably not a true statistic. Through unions, bridge painters can make 6 figures.

Awesome
I puckered up just watching this video , and im not afraid of heights !!!!!!
That's a massive bridge now just imagine the Verrazano.
I do graffiti for free on this bridge might as well get paid to do so
Thats nuts
31k a year?
These men are under paid
this beliani ad is driving me insane
Do a cartwheel!
Oh wow ! Very scary! Not me I'm scared of heights. Lol
Yes 31k is nothing we can make more then working on safe place
my bridge painters range from 35 to 85k yr
31k - 71k. Not enough money. Legit.
Those averages are way off unless this crew is non Union. These guys make more around 100k + a year
You can't be non union out jersey or NYC so yes these #s are half what we actually make. Local 806 baby booya
Heck no
oh yeah, wehn i cross a bridge i say to myself "great! the bridge has been repainted, i can cross safely now."
They actually do need to paint it, it'll erode away and become dangerous if it wasn't.
It's not for looks it's for corrosion.
Piece of cake! I have made over 100 bridge climbs on Every Major NYC bridge! This is too easy!
Seen lots of family baby adult normal families that's swapped babies a lot Then I went back over mine see if same
Too late 12 yrs that's me go back over the Matthew way to me
Monthly payment
not most dangerous. look up sat diving..
I just 💩 by looking 😅😅😅😅😂😌😌 just kidding

I’m sure we can all agree that it is inevitably sad 😢
