Similar to me. My 55 i got was parked in 1975 because he couldnt afford to drive it through the gas crisis. Never pulled it out of the garage except for once in the 80's for a day to repave the garage floor. I bought it in 2019. Sat in the garage for 44 years. Cleaned up very nice for what it is too!
Yep, probably a 265 Turbo Fire as they called it. Nothing turbo about it, but they called it that anyway. In 1955, the 265 was the First V8 Chevrolet, everything prior to that was a Straigjt “Stove Pipe” 6 Cylinder engine, they were tough ole Engines.

It's amazing how barn dust can protect paint and chrome. A good wash and wax can often bring one back to life, visually. Then you just have to worry about the mechanicals and fluid's systems. I would definitely run all new brake and fuel lines, drop the fuel tank and clean it out and pressure test it, replace all belts and hoses, flush the engine oil, and cooling systems, and pressure test the radiator. New oil, repack or replace the wheel bearings, full lube job, and new filters and spark plugs and wires. Check and reset the ignition timing, and then try to start her. I see too many try to start these barn finds with fluids that have been sitting for 20, 30, 40 or more years. Your just risking more damage to the engine and other systems. If it has been sitting that long, the fluids and belts and hoses are no good, the brakes and lines and fluid are no good. Your life is worth more than that...

Isn’t it crazy how the 55, 56, and 57’s are unique in their own way. Personally I’m partial to the rounder 55. They all have their fans.

My high school best friend had a 1956 business coupe 2 door with a 292 V8 painted white roof & baby blue body..my favorite year of the Tri Year Chevys
The 292 was a FORD engine. Ford also had a 272 and a 312. Now if that Belaire had a 283 c.i.👈 with a .o4o Overbore it might make it a 296 ci.✌
Chevy 292's were a straight 6 cylinder
265 V8, or 235-6, only two choices in 56.
