- THE CASE AGAINST EDUCATION
Most people know they should invest. The problem is that most people have been brainwashed to believe that investing is risky. The reality is that it's not investing that is risky, its the investor.
In today's economy, it's much riskier to rely on your employer for your well being than it is to become financially educated and to invest your money wisely. It's also risky to put your money in the bank and collect interest that barely covers inflation...and if inflation really takes off, you'll actually lose money. In other words, if you are financially educated, you can build a pipeline of cash flow for life by investing-a pipeline that produces cash in good times and bad times, in markets that both boom and bust.
Listen to today’s episode to get an insider’s look at how the education system rips off taxpayers and underserves students-when it comes to financial education. Bryan Caplan joins Robert with a revealing look into the college system.

This guy is a Phd' r, and Robert literally wiped the floor with his face!! Wooow!!
And these are the ppl educating the masses.
I just came out from a mental breakdown after failing at a job. Shool sucks. peer pressure on steroids. never going back to a 9 to 5.
Eat more protein and some androstine. Hit the weights. Who cares what others think. As far as mental breakdown...get a couple grams of good chronic, have a good cry then sack up and live bro
NEVER!!!!!!!
Right never bro! I’m starting my LLC and I started my podcast (SPORTS)
Feels good people are waking up man, world needs big thinkers not tiny little mindsets that these schools produce. Go for what you want and go bold at least you won’t regret not chasing your passion
School made me destitute. My parents said to stay in school (i wanted to start a business at age 14). I am being held back by student loan debt somewhat, and i think it is pathetic.
Very Pathetic man, people will take ridiculous things in the society and make huge deals out of them, but never consider raising questions about the school system which literally is producing people who will decide the future of this planet?!!! How come you not take this thing seriously and acknowledge how corrupt it is for the students and a big money making machine for some

@@loushantianthony8832 Go on man. Everyone's parents are the same, even mine. Trust me buddy, if you love your parents, do what you want to do, they will love to see you happy ( and eventually successful). But also understand there are millions of people who do this every year, not all of them are successful. That doesnt mean you stop tho, but it means you will need courage, you will face a lot of hardships, take them as adventure and youll make it someday! Good luck
Man school was such a terror. Damaged my relationship with my mother from kindergarten through college. The curriculum is poor, however it does provide an opportunity to learn social skills, at least. Tho the power of influence is so great that one must be mindful of where they send their kids to school, who the teachers are and who the students are as well.
I am 32 and I know school is a main part of a system that turns us into debt slaves, employees or scared money lol. I love this guy Robery
When it comes to business education, if I had a chance to do it all over again, I would study and learn extremely well financial accounting because, at the end of the day, it is learning how to spot good business opportunities by analyzing the financial statements.
Bryan is the perfect example of "safety" poor mindset
Haha Absolutely

When I started entrepreneur journey I didn't know anything until I joined richdad community and started making mistakes and now am way smarter than most of my classmates who hold higher educational degrees. Financial education is the key
I think Kyosaki’s head was going to explode when he said to diversify your portfolio
Crypto Vin Lmaoo yup.
I hate the idea of "portfolios". I have industry sectors. I trade on the market, that's one. I have my real estate thing, that's another. I have some places to convert cash into equity (precious metals and ammo, for example), that's another.
Portfolios are basically coloring all the eggs different colors and calling that "diversification". What I do, is, I have some steak, some eggs, some forks, some plates. Each is a completely different business model with a different growth rate, time-horizon and set of strategies. "Portfolio" is a red herring, a distraction from how you should actually build and manage wealth.
Poor people have portfolios. Rich people have strategies and business models.
I diversify but not in stocks bonds and mutual funds. 🤢
Haha you think he would have done his homework before coming on the show.
@@manictiger you nailed it bro❤️
Even though I enjoyed University what I resent is society creating the impression that you will make good money if you have a degree, and that's just not true anymore. Why waste young intelligent people's time like that?
Robert, thank you very much for writing Rich Dad Poor Dad. I got alot out the book. The book changed my view of money and what assets really are. I look at everything as either a liability or an asset. That includes people as well.
The most important thing i ever learnt after i went through school and college is that no grade is gonna decide your future...and people alienate you when you make a mistake at any point,so you can only rely on the truth of things and the best teachers to help you grow in a world like this....not with fake info though, fake makes you fake....i rest my case
YES. School gave me a scarcity mindset. Now I have to fight for myself to an abundant mindset.
"I never let my schooling interfere with my education." -Samuel Clemens
As an example, most of the people in my family are terrified of guns. I own guns and decided to get educated on how they work. I still go back to it from time to time for testing and more education. Some people definitely are better at managing money.
"Diversify your portfolio" he says. That reminds me of: "when the commander sends his reinforcements everywhere, he will everywhere be weak." -Sun Tzu
Self education is more important. At school you don’t always learn
If I could do it over again... I wouldn't have gone to college...I would have invested in an idea and implemented on it...but it's not too late... thank you Robert and Alexandra
If I could I wouldn’t either
@aena mustafa If you’re passionate about comp sci I would recommend to go the route. But if you’re contemplating the pay rate I do believe long term you might be unhappy. First understand your hobbies and what you’re really good at then try to find ways to make money in that area. Always think about your pros and cons and go forward on the end that suits you best. Good luck !
I felt like robert was reliving his arguments with his PhD father

👏👏👏👏
I think robert is right when it comes financial education school doesn't encourage Entrepreneurship instead encourages Employees so today the only one benefit for school is it gives skillset for example:- To be an engineer, alawyer Medical doctor IT specialist e.t.c even non regulated professions school teaches it's fundamentals with qualifications In that manner school system can be good and beneficial for freelancers who need High valuable skillset.
I second that

I think an interview with Dan Lok would be interesting. What do you think?

I love you Robert. And I love that you do not take sh*t for an answer. You say it like it is without being afraid and without being too politically correct while at the same time holding down the necessary level of class and charisma. I've learnt more about the world, including money and education, from Robert than I have learnt from everybody else put together. He has single handedly changed the world for the better - And if anyone he is the one who deserves a noble prize and not some president or some random person who receives awards for political agendas. Thank you for your work brother. Your legacy and soul will be ever shining.
I can answer a resounding yes. School took my courage in me but I have gotten it back
There's no better job unless you have better education or degree in my country. After listening Mr.kiosaki , I looked for so many jobs and still looking for it cause I want to learn and have some experience so I could save some and invest in cash flow business. Finding a job makes a complications between job and education (college). Sometimes I think I should drop the college and invest my time for something different. My thinking has changed after watching and listening Rich Dad Poor Dad.
And I believe I can make the big change tomorrow.
#believe
I would love to see you interview Gary Vee.
Really thankful with the information that has been provided, also the different mindset presented was pretty interesting . I am struggling to get into college and pursuing a major, but my goal has shifted.
Im glad this video came up. Today i was on another one of these videos complaining to someone who went to college and is now baking fuggin cookies. Who goes to college to bake fuggin cookies?
My father didn't finish school, went bankrupt and has not gone back on his feet again. This kind of advice is not for everyone...
My Dad went bankrupt, stood back up and now makes 6 digits with his business. It all the mind set, that you will NOT ever give up.
Instead of learning from his mistakes, it sounds like your dad was defeated and gave up.
@@GetReal77 There's a difference between worshipping money and knowing how to use the tool called money to work for you. Your future children are going to have an impoverished future if they are not taught how to use that tool.
I dropped out of high school after getting arrested...then finished at night school, went to trade school, joined the marines, and came back making a shit tons of mistakes... read rich dad poor dad in 2005 and I’m really not bullshitting but I do better than doctors, lawyers, and have the real wealth... “time”
Yah i think thats why brian said not everyone should invest their life savings into a business. Most fail and not everyone recovers. Plus didnt robert kioasaki's dad buy a franchise and lost it and never recovered?
Caplan understands that the School system is flawed but he is still programmed to repeat the memorized answers of Financial MISEDUCATION...Wow!
Just think how crazy that is , these academic people can’t even think on their own
I thank Robert and all Rich Dad Company Advisors for get me real Finance information. You guys rock!!!
Bryan Caplan missed the 2008-09 crash, we were wiped out... QE, Toxic money printing, saved the system for the short term.
I read rich dad poor dad when I was 12 and I got a basic idea of what to do with my life, I'm 16 now..
this was an excellent episode. It's really good to hear the perspective of someone who thinks like the average person on this show. It really shows how people are so obsessed with investiing and diversifying. People are just doing what they are told and not thinking for themselves.
I too am qualified with BS after leaving school Robert lol I did well in school, a scholarship, honors and credits but left early @ 16 coz it was BS ;) I love teaching, but nothing like some of the useless stuff you learn in school! Gotta say though, going to a Tech school I learned and started passion in manual skills and am thankful for that. However, this is "Hobby stuff" and making money is what I learned by spending a lot of money on self-ed! Always enjoy your show Robert - Cheers
Listening to Kaplan (and I say this also having read his book), this Upton Sinclair quote comes to mind - "It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it."
Also, as someone who teaches college economics (albeit without the "pedigree" that Kaplan has), I was embarrassed listening to this. My real-world experiences trump anything I ever learned in the academic world, and I emphasize that in the classes that I teach as well.
Robert Kiyosaki's critique is mostly directed to business education and the useless degrees in the social sciences and humanities. The process of scientific research and technological innovation advances through a community of highly trained elite scientists and engineers who mastered an established body of knowledge within their fields and then when on and obtained their PhDs to then create new knowledge. Robert's real estate business depends on highly credentialed professionals like CPAs, tax attorneys, structural engineers, architects, etc.
I felt very uncomfortable by just watching the video, I can't imagine how Bryan felt, its interesting how he took Robert's poor dad role so seriously!
And by the way, don't forget the book is on Amazon LoL
I feel like if you get involved with in the stock market it should be for capital gains and use that money to acquire real Assets or to create a business. Not to do it forever or to have more money to spend.
He is discussing about Financial Literacy meaning.
We were taught about memorizing information(which google can do for you) not bout how to handle money well .
BTW I wish I had ever gone to college to get a BS and MS degrees...I never used them... but I had two vocational degrees which helped me more than the above.... and I can't pay back my loans...I just wanted to help people and be a better person with a better life in my older years...some things just don't work out I guess.. thanks Robert and Kim and your guests
Hello there Robert. Excellent program. Everyone learns about finance when it’s time to pay back the loan.
Robert is like wtf I interview this guy 😂
When Robert says, at 26:57, Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway is down 40% for 10 years, anyone knows what he's referring to? It doesn't seem to be the stock price of Class A nor Class B shares, which more than quadrupled since 2009?
Hi guys school helped me to learn English. I like your language and culture too. I came from Vietnam . If you were in vn, you would think your schools are good.

Bryan got schooled today by Robert. Brian's ego was a little bit shaken by Robert´s financial intelligence when it comes to saving vs investing in money. One should never save money, always invest it and use your assets for buying the stuff you need.

@unknown territory Whatever it is that he has or doesn't, that is his business, the simple fact is the guy is a pioneer and has helped millions around the world by re programming the brainwashing delivered by our schooling systems, institutions etc. In my books Kiyosaki will always be that genius that untangled the fraud.

@@ScoobyTulsa No, he is right. Robert wasn't anything before he started selling his seminars and later his books on how to become rich. Schools are good if you learn a profesion that you can work for yourself. If you learn to work for somebody else, you do not have control of your future
This was a really good video/radio show topic. 👌🏿😎🌴 I hope more and more younger generations learn this.
Awesome Video Robert is amazing!
We need a balance. Can't have everyone wanting other people to work for them. There'll be nobody working
It might be possible that if you study a certain subject you could in a way sell your services in that subject to another entrepreneur or work as part of a team and consult. For example if you study accounting, you could market yourself and sell your services to another entrepreneur. Whereas now the entrepreneur would just hire you and instead of him being a client, you're an employee.
That's where the professional part comes in. Most of these guys started in some way like a professional and evolved to an entrepreneur.
Awesome show!

Sir Kiyosaki, about education the classical way you made your point. But what about the Montesori method? Japan and some other countries are having great success compared to the classical system.
Its the school systems job to churn out citizens. They want your kids to stick to safe jobs to keep industries going. Depending on the type of school you attend has a change of deciding the type of citizen you will become.
Sometimes you need to Know what you want to do and what not to do
School increases your horizons if you just change the perspective
I agree 100% with kryoaski

You don't even need to go to colleges or universities anymore. Matter of fact, you don't even need to send your kids to elementary, middle school, or high school either. Why? Because everything that they learn in school is taught, can be taught, and is presently being taught, subject by subject, on RUclips for FREE !!! As long as you have a tablet or computer and access to the internet, every subject matter, on any level, can be learned for free on youtube !! The only thing you might need a school for is laboratory science experiments and even then, you don't need the 'whole school' for that....
Would you go to a dentist that learned his trade through RUclips?
I feel like you wrote Rich Dad Poor Dad after declaring Bankruptcy twice and joining Amway Scamway. Did you work with Esther Hicks (Laws of Attraction) while you were there? I agree with the part of your book that says, to become rich it's important not to let emotions interfere. Though I don't agree that is right because like you said civilization collapses when the gap between rich and poor becomes to large.
I am in college right now and I don't feel it is for me because it's just about study and give exam . Although my subject is business but they are teaching to work under somone else business and not build your own .
Same. Its a waste of time, im just trying to grow my business before i dropout.

I'm glad I never persued a EE BS degree. My plan was to go part time but It never materialized. I was trying to meet with an advisor on required classes, but the could never get a response. I think the reason was because I was going to go part time. Part time students don't bring in big money into the college.
Besides, people always throw their college books. I have a nice collection of math, psychics, engineering and accounting books. I keep these books as references.

You will not learn in life if you are afraid to take risks and failures
State school is designed to keep you within your own class and give you the skills to work for the wealthy landowner. The evidence is clearly found it you follow the money to find out who creates the curriculum of what you should learn...the government! The same way the NHS was founded in the UK to keep you healthy enough to work for someone who can afford private health care.
So good!
The only thing I like about this video is how Robert is schooling Bryan about real life people. Bryan bring it down a few notches off your high horse.
Wow. I like this guy. What an amazing show. He's so optimistic. But, I will say, the role of counter-party risk, is one that should be minimalized. I think no matter what Kaplins strategies are, his attitude can power him through, and that is something most people are missing. Great show.
When Robert spoke about his income in the 1970's of about $125,000 not being a lot of money today, although in the big picture of the investment world $125,000 per year is not a lot of money, for the average American that income would place them at well over double the mean average income of $48,000 in the US. Sometimes how you word your message can turn off listeners. Just an observation. Someone earning over $125,000 per year would allow them to more safely transition from employee to investor.
@@discflinger7675 my reply was in reference to someone earning $125,000 per year today. Not in the 70's. His statement was that someone earning $125,000 today is not earning a lot of money. As for the tongue in cheek dig at my educational background, I didn't sleep through anything. I graduated summa cum laude, although I did hate statistics and microeconomics. My comment was a personal observation. I've learned a lot from Kiyosaki.

Robert ignores ONE key point about college level learning, even if only for a couple years without graduating: the biggest thing you learn in college is HOW TO LEARN! All the famous college drop outs that made it big had a little college!
Radu Banciu I agree with this. It gave me the confidence I needed to believe that I could study, and successfully apply the financial education that kiyosaki, and others like him teach.
You do not need college to learn to learn. Just wake up, be curious & observant.
I knew how to learn before college.
But I did see so many people at college who never knew how to learn. Even once they graduated.
@@human1513 What you learn in college is how to pass exams and write papers where the professor confirms that you read the assigned readings. That's it. Real learning takes place when you get that first job.
@@albertoluyando8292 I agree but I continued to learn & learned so much more fact & truth about jobs, governments & the history of real money on my own once I stopped working for others at a job.
I stopped becoming a sheep, or at least a sheep with wider eyes open now.
I wasted so many years at a job after going through the indoctrination camps of school, college, university.
It just took me too many years to figure it out.
You are either a professor or a very ignorant person. Firstly, you do not need college to learn how to learn. This can be done independently or through daily life experiences where you make mistakes, get knocked down, get up, and try again. Secondly, colleges are overcharging and even robbing us for "learning how to learn". Absolutely not worth it!
Thank you Robert for asking him the hard questions. You can tell he was not liking them. Lol
He can’t even give a straight up answer to defend himself 🤣
I really thing that both were not on the same field. Robert advocate on getting a sound financial education and when you get that you can't just handle your money to someone else to invest.
In the meantime Caplan is just a normal teacher: if you don't know how to do it, just handle it to the so-called professionals and pray for the market to grow.
Robert ate this guy Alive! Save diversify? 🤦♂️🤦♂️wow... I love it lets just say this. This episode was hilarious 💜😌
Schools are not helping everyone during this recession. They're just adding to the problem instead of letting kids relax and be really useful during this recession. I think kids should learn valuable skills for the real world that can benefit them and everyone else. But schools are just loading kids with more work and not allowing that.
Bryan was fun....
Man they had me in choir and art class and i cant sing and i suck at art but i did wanted business classes
I agree that school system should be revolutionized but things are easier to said than done. Like he is saying.
I think schools are meant to get the basis, then you can do whatever you want to venture at. Had Robert not gone through the basis , he wouldn not have been able to grow rich , or any other rich person out there who who have not won the lottery or been passed wealth on to from parents.
Yeah Bryan ain’t stupid. He knows what time it is. He have to feed ppl the bs. He came from the same camp like the rest of that. So I’m not mad at him. Robert was setting him straight in a easy way. He didn’t want to bash him too hard lol. This was The Millionaire Fastlane, playing out.
I wish I knew this in high school and wish I can present this in school!
It's easy to call someone a fool, but something to take into consideration is most poor people may not even know about Robert Kiyosaki or others. Also, many people are too poor to even think about going to school and the only thing they have is the school system or the beliefs of their parents. I was lucky enough to stumble on Robert and it was by mistake at that.
It's funny... Bryan's advice is the same advice that is peddle by all the talking heads, however, it's not the strategy that wall street, banks, governments, etc. use... the winners aren't using that strategy but they keep telling us to use it. Something doesn't smell right with this advice.
I have attended Bryan Caplan's public lectures where he had the time to lay out his argument about the current problem of higher education. Is too bad that Robert Kiyosaki did not encourage him to elaborate further on the premise of his argument.
When i was pulled into my Principal's office in Junior High School my Principal said I'm going to tell you this and one day i hope it sinks in And that Statement was Knowledge is Power. Back then i laughed but today that info is basically like my Holy Bible. Along with the Real one of course !
