If you're interested,...bit.ly/2AGi1wH
Some viewers may be interested in some previous videos about Land Rovers. They're at my previous channel, Riverport Rovers.

Here is the build series about my truck. A rather modified Series II Land Rover.
bit.ly/2ziYQbv
I rather silly build and road trip to the famous Land Rover Winter Romp in Maine.
bit.ly/2zjtPUW
A slightly less silly road trip to Cape Breton that does involve painting flames on a Land Rover.

The series that started it all. A crazy plan to build a Land Rover in one day from assorted bits lying around.

There's a few other videos that might be of interest at Riverport Rovers including the beginning of a Boler trailer refit.

Rebuilding wooden boats is Peter's piece of cake ! 🍰
That's kind, thank you.
You’re rebuilding MV Zephyrs, you’re rebuilding MV Geordie, you will rebuild MV Poem and you’re also rebuilding the boat shed, and we love it!
And almost time to rebuild the Land Rover again ffs!
I’m doing a few projects on boats like he does I’ve been too afraid to RUclips it😂 I’ve got a 16 ft cruisers I’m restoring and a 42ft Chris craft commander my family is redoing
@@williammichels6391 Well, as you know, we will all watch it! give it a shot, it could be a great experience.
@@willisworms really? I might consider it, I just don’t know if I would have the time for such a good production quality video like Peter does weekly, I am a medical student just doing these projects on the side for enjoyment, I’m hopefully gunna have my 16ft wooden lapstrake cruisers restored in the next 9 months which could be a good series
Amazing progress - as they say the best way to eat an elephant is one mouthful at a time. Great video - thanks Peter.
Thank you Peter
Cut to size, hammer to fit, paint to cover. My kind of wood work!
Hammond from Top Gear described a landrover as like driving a magical old shed....
Much easier to build new than rebuild an old. Thanks for thinking of the next person to work in that area.
Moused over the recomendation thumbnail for this episode and it started playing with subtitles. It said "Welcome to troubles with Jordy".
So pleased you still use the beautiful word pup when referring to Geordie in Northern Ireland we use the term pup all the time! Alan Northern Ireland 👍
Cut to patch, hammer to fit. Way to go!
Hi from Genoa (Italy, without "Bay"). I,'m owner of a 32' sloop built in 1951. I often have the same surprises you have and looking to your videos is comforting
Ahh, I'm so envious of your location!...
@@TravelsWithGeordie Same for myself, admiring Vancouver region!
Ahh, the joy of series Land Rovers. spent a few years with an 88" as the daily and a 101 as the back up, eventually every journey being an adventure got a bit old and a volvo entered the stable.
I'm grateful my truck is actually quite pleasant to drive compared to a stock series truck. Still, it's no Volvo though!
We’re rebuilding parts on our porch using some techniques you’re using on the boats. Digging out rot, patching and epoxying the heck out of it. Cheers to the doers who keep the world running
Rebuild, Renew, and Respect Great Job!!
Thanks Scott
It is always good to see a hole closed up.
I am beginning a complete rebuild of my classic Hatteras Yacht and I very much appreciate and look forward to your videos. Thank you!
Wow, great fun!
Rebuild, rebuild, rebuild, drink beer and do some more tomorrow. 😄 Great job on the replacement panels.
Rebuild.. Rebuild all over the place.. 😁
Yes, yes definitely.
@@TravelsWithGeordie btw im happy to know were no longer at war with you guys anymore. The Whiskey war is over. And who knew you're a neighbor to denmark eh.? We share a border and we never knew.. 😅
The rebuilding part of your show is my favourite. Rebuilt on McDuff.
Couldn't agree more Peter, Landy's are hard to beat but, having spent many years in them, they are not the idea commuting choice! Still love them.........and oh........I left rebuilding out.......whoops 😜
It can truly be said that a house is a poorly built boat turned upside down. And while I have no wooden boat, I do have a house with a leaky roof. Your repair technique, once properly applied to my roof should serve to resolve my leak in spite of the poor construction for which I paid many thousands of dollars. Thank you for your insight. Great channel. Hope Lady Z is still cooking those great meals for you.
So good to see you finally got the right prying tool... we used to call those hive tools because we used them for opening bee hive boxes when my dad was a bee keeper. My first experience with woodworking was cutting dadoes on a table saw in the effort of rebuilding hive boxes with my dad in Spokane Washington.
Thanks Peter. Great patching. And I miss the canopy!
Gosh me too, it's still so hot in the sun!
"Don't use your hand as a hammer," I've heard you say. So today you used your screw gun. An improvement indeed. You're a wonderful guy Peter.
Now that I think about, it was an impact driver. Ao you're off the hook :)
Hi Peter, having been watching you rebuild stuff for quite a while now. I have rebuilt a few things myself most of my adult life. So looking forward to watching more videos as you continue rebuilding boats!😀 Cheers!!
Stay safe and we'll see you next week.
The essence of wooden boat ownership is the art of the rebuild
Great episode Peter. Each time I watch you work on a project I gain more courage to tackle my own projects. So much to restore! But its a true labor of love!
Cheers!
It is likely that the existing bonding of the fiberglass is so weak because they did not wet out the surface wood properly before they put down the glass.
Yes, but strangely, to my advantage...
Rebuild with Geordie!
I remember the days before oscillating tools, they were not good……love mine
How did we ever survive?....
I hope that your enjoyment of that Pilsner will “rebuild” your pallet to enjoy the mundane lagers and pilsners vs the IPA’s you seem to enjoy.
rebuild refit and move. have a great time in your winter moorage
Thanks Gerald, just love being in the city.
To be able to rebuild these knowing that there is no issues with weather and to some extent better lighting, material and tool storage must be bliss . Enjoy 🎉
It's just so much easier.
That is Cool with The Rebuild W/ You.
That multi tool is very handy 👌 for the rebuild.
Rebuilding a 1966 Ford Mustang! Should be fun.
I bet! enjoy.
Hope your trip back went well, and was enjoyable :)
Regards, John.
Very pleasant, flat seas and favorable tides. Thank you John.
love it, love it love it !
Those boats met you in the right time of their lives. A man who take care for them with love and care and insures a longer life for them. Respect toyou Peter, how you talcle all problems with perseverance and creativity. Great craftmenship.Greets from the Netherlands
Great entertainment and another job well done.
Thanks Dusty.
Good luck on the rebuild.
Thanks Max.
Hi Peter.
I had an idea...
If you reassemble the canopy.. with slight modification to make wider?.. and use as a door of the boathouse.. hinged from the top..
This would extend the shed when it wasn't hanging vertically.. with no extra moorage.. 😻
Meanwhile.. I said about perspex .. have you thought of getting an 8 x 4 sheet for the bit your working on and the upper helm...
A 6mm 8 x 4 sheet is £200 in UK .. from main supplier in UK...
Alternatively.. look in skips.. dumpsters? .. as shops are throwing out Covid screens.. it's easy to polish back up..
Regards
Bella 🐈 & Mark.
The bench is awesome!
I really am thrilled, To watch Peter rebuild, That cabin top renews, With a plethora of screws, And the next Shipwright, Will smile with delight. Bravo !
Ha!, yes "plethora of screws" it rather was, wasn't it?
Enjoy the drive up and back on the Malahat highway with all the construction. Rebuild you shall and so will I, yet my boat is at the Westport marina in Sidney and I'm commuting from Florida! I hope you could use the end pieces I dropped on your doorstep last week. Best to you!
Ahhhh Mike, that was you!. Thank you!
The postscript at the end of the video makes one wonder if the rebuilding is going to also include the Land Rover.
I myself personally am in consistent rebuilding mode in all aspects of my life...personal, professional, social and as a hobbyist!
Watching you from Harbour Grace Nfld I lived on Vancouver Island For Two Years Back home now and still loving your program keep up the great work
Wow .. Rebuilding is a perfect word for this week as that is the main effort for the shed as well as MV Zephyrs.
Great episode and fantastic work.
You always make it look so easy...
Love it... Love it... Love it...
Thanks for sharing 👍 😊
Peter. Respect!!
Thank you Sandy.
@@TravelsWithGeordie peter. I stumbled across your chànnel years ago and i have been a subscriber since. I love what you are doing to the two old ladies, to many old ladies are being left to rot.
Peter i sent the reply before i wanted to, my thumbs are to big for this small phone. I was going to add that if i ever have the opertunity to travel to your neck of the woods i would bring you some beers for the week. Keep it up! Many people enjoy your channel, as you know.
Great to see you wearing the dust/fume mask.
Bad enough using your hand as a hammer. You will be as sorry as I am when 72 that you did that. But now your using your drill as a hammer. Come on, get a grip. Love it
You should put a board perpendicular to the shelves to prevent sagging. It can be a 1x2 just screwed to the horizontal boards. Without it, you'll have to rebuild your shelves. Cheers!
Peter if you start a business may I suggest naming it " Knowles blue tub marine restorations"
Our thoughts go out to all in the Southeastern USA as they rebuild from Hurricane Ian - Thanks for the video Peter!
Peter. Is that a Stanley WonderBar. They are fantastic for prying loose things. We used them for demoing tile floors. Liked the DDS reference about we can safe this tooth, but your gums are bad. What is your fuel consumption/hr. 6 hrs steam from the shed to Vancouver. Sounds very peaceful. Nice patch work on the deck. It’s so easy to rebuild, with the right tools. And Peter. Smack the torque bit end of the bit, with the hammer. Should create a snugger fit on the screw. Has worked in the past. Be safe. Still waiting for t shirt.
What every steward of 3 vintage wooden boats needs: a float-in workshop. Good decision to establish a base of operation to handle travails before travels. I see your goals being achieved faster, better and safer now, not to mention more comfortable and efficient. I can already tell you are re-energized.
I fancy a pint now myself and it’s only 6am…
Heh.
The way that you integrate a summer of cruising while rebuilding (and maintaining) 2 classic wooden boats is an inspiration. Always look forward to your videos. I am one of the few that actually miss the old canopy, but I cannot wait for what will be the final iteration for MV Geordie's Bridge Deck.
I am amazed and you are able to take on three beautiful boats to rebuild. I have a difficult time keeping up with one boat. Always look forward Sunday’s!!
Thanks
I cannot wait to see the rebuild of the Fiberglass. That's where I would fail horribly.
It is great to be rebuilding and having a Riot doing it!!!
Cheers! 🍻
The shed is transformational. When I see all the gear out, it’s amazing you were able to do all that work aboard for a number of years. Anyway, rebuild is an appropriate word for this week.
I loved the construction of the shelves and organizing the space in the boat house. The tear out and destruction of the old roof top and construction of the new one is fascinating to watch. Good luck on having to commute between the two locations Peter.
Quality repairs Peter, really dig the process 🛟
Thanks Robert.
"a rebuild with a cause" great content following on from last weeks rotfest, keep it up
Looking forward to watching you rebuild Geordie ;-)
It is best practice to pre coat with resin on new plywood. Without pre coat, the resin applied to the glass will soak through to the new plywood, get sucked in, and you end up with a very poor bond between the 2 pieces. Thats clear when you can pull the fiberglass off the deck, like has been done here, No Bond !
Standard practice !!!
@@kimcater3351 I would not have made a post if it was.
I would love to have an old land rover that I could repair.
Great work yet again Pete! Always something to rebuild!
I wish I had an Ed Monk to rebuild
There are two for sale in BC right now.
@@TravelsWithGeordie My wife doesn’t share my dreams. I just wanted to use “rebuild” in a clever way.
My oscillating tool is probably one of the most useful tools I have, I see yours also gets a regular work out.
Looking good Peter.
Nice to see you back on the builds. Enjoying these last couple episodes bigtime. Keep them coming Peter anyways the boats looking pretty dern good by the way.
I am very excited to be seeing work done on Poem, not sure what needs to be rebuilt but the hyper efficiency of that little boat is just so appealing to me, looking forward to seeing what you do with it
Me too, really excited, still dreaming of electric!....
Peter, why use the impact wrench for those small wood screws? Every "normal" Makita screws every Torx into the wood. None of my builders/ framers use impact. It's just wood. Your neighbours will also be grateful not to have to hear this annoying rattling anymore :-)
Another great peice of workmanship repair looks pretty good to me. I am about to be doing some rebuild work on my project plugging couple random holes in the Family Yacht all 24 foot of her. Once ya get the bones sorted the rest shall fall into place. Great job on getting the glass off as that could have gone wrong in so many ways and that Jimmy Bar was worth the wait. Man where would we be without those Multi Tools eh. Keep at it and Carry On. ;0}
As usual great to watch your vlogs. Would the boat shed support a mezzanine floor ? You could buy more tools then to play with increasing the storage ? Cheers
It would, but rather than a full mezzanine, just some high storage all along the sides is in order.
The work you are doing looks so satisfying ... I own a fiberglass powerboat which I enjoy working on but I don't think it is anywhere near as enjoyable ... well done Peter, I look forward to each new episode. P.S. It's still not too late to change the window in the bulkhead to one large one ..just kidding .. I realize you and Lady Zephyrs are purists.
New bits of deck are nice and sound, will you use epoxy resin for the fiberglass too? Do you find you get a drivers side sunburnt arm with the Landy too?
Big jobs to do😅
With the amount of effort you are going to, I am curious if you had considered raising the roof? Seems like it would not be much more effort then you are already going to.
Oh gosh, that would actually be a lot of work. And happily, Zephyrus has full standing headroof in the aft cabin. Now Poem, that's another story....
Are you ready for the visits from the otters ??
Leave a radio on... proven otter repellent
👍!!!
👍
Peter in my country too many fastenings make a boat nail sick, have more faith in modern glues, also save some cash!!!
True, that was a bit much....
I really need a rebuild as apparently, does the Landrover. Fuel pump issue?
Actually the Rover is running great. Needs tires though, yikes...
So, was that a hammer drill you were using to install the floor gap filler strips?
Best of luck
re:build
Is it worthwhile stuffing some insulation in the ceiling whilst you have access?
Insulation in boats is a controversial topic. I favor ventilation over insulation. The benefit from insulation is far exceeded by the benefit from ventilation in an area where humidity is a certainty. There are ways to achieve both but not simply or cheaply.
Hey mate I am wondering what the fishing is like where you travel around those islands? I know you don't seem to be into it but what type of fish do they catch there if any?
seems crazy another ten minutes demo of the FRP you could remove it all and do it properly instead of patch job
Ahhh, it would seems so yes, but consider all the additional openings and edges I'd have to contend with. It's just not possible in the time frame I have.
This is the life of a liveaboard restoration.
I really need to get one of those multi tools! Are metal cutting blades available for them?
Yes, but all blades for these toys are expensive.
@@TravelsWithGeordie about a fiver a blade in the UK, good thing to have lying about for when a grinder or recip won't get in.
Any chance you'll rebuild the Landrover?
You going to give zeffer upper Helm ???
Reduce, reuse, recycle, rebuild
😀👍👍🍺🇺🇸
You do realize sir it was all the messing about that you do all your aspirations about cruising your own boat or going to go down you realize there's only one of you and you're not getting any younger
Great, this was a good’n.
👍
