Lakshmi Sahgal was a revolutionary of the Indian independence movement, an officer of the Indian National Army, and the Minister of Women's Affairs in the Azad Hind government. Sahgal is commonly referred to in India as "Captain Lakshmi", a reference to her rank when taken prisoner in Burma during the Second World War.

I didn't even knew that she lived long in independant India. Such is the work of Congress party that legends died without notice in independant India.
She deserves Bharat Ratna and nothing less. We could have chosen as our President but She was having very tough competitor like A. P. J. Abdul Kalam and not any other like mrs. pratibha tayi Or Zail Singh or any other ordinary president except on is Rajendra prasad..Had Laxmi Sehgal been put against Dr. Rajendra Babu perhaps She would have become our President but she remained as unsung Heroine in Dirty Congress and N. D. A. Govt.
