I’m having a hard time understanding this situation. Mr.Katsaris is one of the finest pianists in all of history who has a career to match his talent. I would assume that he is financially independent. Yet he is trying to get 450 euros which is probably not even pocket change for him. Isn’t it time to occasionally teach really talented people for free the way Liszt did in his later years, instead of hustling for a few hundred and wasting his time on people who shouldn’t be musicians anyway? A Greek weightlifting analogy would be Pyrros Dimas coaching people at the local Blink Fitness.

You're totally mistaken, alas. Katsaris' career doesn't match his talent AT ALL. He should be where Bang Bang is. But he isn't.
The world of classical music is less and less about talent and more and more about hype, money and marketing.
It's sad, but on the other hand Katsaris and other absurdly underrated interpreters still manage to enrich our lives with new perspectives on all too well-known scores. People who are knowledgeable about classical music and care about it are immensely grateful for that.

I know what you mean but things are relative. Bang Bang career has nothing to do with music. I’m sure Katsaris can comfortably retire and certainly cannot be financially destroyed by a few months of the fake pandemic. I could imagine someone like Artur Cimirro, an absolutely phenomenal and unknown pianist needing a few hundred bucks at this point but not Mr. Katsaris. His reasons are not financial.

@@alexivanov6776 How can we assume for sure that Mr. Katsaris is financially independent and able to retire comfortably? Also, in response to your first comment, I still think he should be able to be financially compensated for his work. Lessons from one of the world's best pianists are surely worth a mere $500 - not to mention, times are hard in the era of COVID and Katsaris might not be supporting /just/ himself. Lastly, Katsaris is not Liszt, nor should he feel compelled to be like him.

Mr. Katsaris has been performing for about 50 years and to suppose that he doesn’t have several million$ in his savings account would be incorrect. If he brings a keyboard to Times Square, I can assure you that he could make 500$ in a few hours but it wouldn’t make any difference in his financial situation. He may not be Liszt but he created a musical world of his own which is unique and which cannot have any price tag attached to it. Very few people can benefit from his lessons. Do you suppose Rachmaninov charged Horowitz 50 Morgan dollars for a lesson? In my opinion the situation with Katsaris masterclasses is some weird occult ritual of humility. PS.Goethe once said that only scoundrels are modest.

Lesson fee is 200 euros per hour.
      450 euros for 3 hours isn’t it?
