My parents lived in Houston for 3 years so went to visit then several times. Loved the friendliness of the people and the great food. Pappasitos is the best Tex Mex I've ever had.
Hey Dave!! Never lives in Texas, but surprised my husband with a trip to see the Dallas Cowboys play; Thanksgiving 2016! We had a blast, food was amazing and the people were welcoming and very friendly! Go Cowboys!!! Theresa NJ
Ninfa's originated in Houston and the original restaurant "Ninfa's on Navigation" (in my Top 5) is still open although not under original management. Ninfa Laurenzo is credited for the creation of the fajita and her family now owns several restaurants in Houston called El Tiempo. Their restaurants are my go to #1 for fajitas, but I also enjoy Lupe's, Pappasitos and the original Ninfa's on Navigation!
Dallas absolutely has its own vibe, if you’re looking for a more quiet spot with a younger vibe with the best food I HIGHLY recommend the Bishop Arts District, it’s a MUST!
While I couldn't see myself living in Texas, I'd say you'd be lucky if you like parks. You have Dallas/Fort Worth with Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in nearby Arlington, NRH2O in Fort Worth, the 5 Hawaiian Falls waterparks across the metropolitan area and nearby Waco, a Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine and Epic Waters in Grand Prarie. Then there's San Antonio with Six Flags Fiesta Texas, SeaWorld and Aquatica, and Splashtown. There's also Austin just a little over a half hour from the city where you'll find Typhoon Texas, Kalahari in nearby Round Rock (hopefully opening in November), and Schlitterbahn directly between San Antonio and Austin in New Braunfels. Although Houston no longer has Six Flags Astroworld, you still have Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown, another Typhoon Texas in the nearby town of Katy, and Galveston Island not too far away with another Schlitterbahn and two exciting piers (Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier and Kemah Boardwalk). There are lots of other cool things about that state like the food, the geography and landscape and the diversity of people in different regions as well but I'll let you talk about that in this video.
Everyone loves Austin. No one want to move away once they graduate. Houston is a welcoming and wonderfully diverse city. The arts thrive in Houston with our world famous opera company, Houston Ballet and symphony. The theater scene is also very rich. It beats Dallas and Austin in those areas. Although the Austin music scene is the best. All my family lives in the Dallas area though so we know it well. Glad I’m not back in California during these troubles. God bless Texas.
I’m a lifelong Austinite (well, South Austin/Buda); glad that you liked it here! Austin is one of a kind! That said...hoping to retire to Orlando area one day!
I loved living in Dallas!!! Tx is amazing and when I was there you got a lot of house for your money. My ex worked(s) for IDsoftware so I got a different perspective of Dallas than some did. My favorite place was where JFK was shot. Amazing to sit there and listen to all the different stories!
Ohh Austin Traffic I don't like it...BUT I haven't been to Cali.. but man... Austin Traffic is yuck! but YES I agree... Austin is awesome! I live close to Lake Travis and man, it is beautiful! But I love spending loads of time downtown and in East Austin. Great Music scene is my favorite! Did you ever explore SXSW?
Yeah, sxsw is fun, lots of people watching to take in. East Austin has some amazing art galleries and I love where my apartment is because it is near the lake (the oasis restaurant actually) and and really just a 20 min Uber ride to anywhere. But I love Austin,. It’s pretty cool.
How long did you live in Austin? I’ve been there three times with my son for RTX. A Rooster Teeth convention. It was awesome but in the summer way too hot for me. Great people and food and music.
My wife is from Brownsville, TX. We love visiting the Austin and San Antonio area, have visited a few times in the last few years. If you go to Dallas be sure to lookup the National Videogame Museum in Frisco,TX. We have been wanting to check it out on another adventure to Texas.
SterlingHJ Riding Stable ain’t that the truth?! When I saw the proposed new I-35 plans I was like “really?! In what lifetime will that be completed and where will the traffic go while this is being done?!” Mopac is a nightmare even with the toll road and 183 is ugh... and just 35 in general. I’m not an austinite but I moved here after Katrina (I’m a NOLA transplant) right near Barton Springs off S. Lamar. Loved that neighborhood... can’t afford to live there now though hahaha 😂 but man, the traffic makes me sick sometimes with the lack of roads like we did back in New Orleans. We may have had potholes but we had many, many backroads to take to maneuver around and get to places in plenty of time! ;)

They have such great stuff!

Haven’t explored much in Texas, but if we’d move anywhere, it would definitely be Orlando!
Makes sense!

Currently in Plano (near Dallas.) Comparatively, Houston and Austin have so much more to do than Dallas.
Ah good to know!
I’ve always heard that Austin is a great town. Would be cool to see a video if you ever go back.
It really is! Sounds good!
Love Houston!
My inlaws lives there and I agree with you the food is great. We especially love Ninfa’s, Hugo’s and of course Whataburger.
