I realize this is an old video and you’ve been offline for years. But I have been watching all your videos as you are an amazing teacher. You are very clear and concise and practical. Thank you for your hard work. I, as well as others would most likely agree, can see that you put so much work into each video. It does not go unnoticed. Thank you again. And God bless you. 🌺
Enjoy how you share your insights on how to use the Weeks. I plan to use my Cousin as my daily reading Bullet for work and I supplement with the Weeks. I keep work/ personal appts in Weeks because I work in 2 different locations each week and can get confusing so this year I developed this system for me and working well. I also take lots of notes in meetings and the Mega Weeks works better as it is smaller and have enough pages for notes the entire year. I have been using this setup for sometime and I feel that saying “planner peace”🌹
Thank you for sharing! I'm so glad to know that you managed to figure out a solution to your planner problem! Congratulations on achieving planner peace
Thank you very much for another concise video filled with valuable and innovative ideas! In particular, the project management layout resonated with my style and I believe will better help me manage and track my various projects and responsibilities. Thanks!
Great video! I can definitely put these into practice to assist with not only my employees' performance evaluations but also for tracking my achievements throughout the year. Timely video as I was just asked by my manager to provide some bullet points to her ....wish I had been tracking like your suggested tips! now I have to go through volumes of emails.... Thanks very much, Yukiko!
Love the last one which I plan to use for the students that I will be teaching. It’s going to help me with reporting their progress as well a tweaking their plans throughout the year. I was going to use the original AVEC but think the weeks would be better with all of the extra pages in the back with using this idea. Thanks 🙏🏼!
Hm... Depending on how many students you have, you might wanna consider a mega weeks! It gives you 3 times the amount of blank grid paper in the normal weeks. I don't use so many pages myself, but I still like to have extra pages around just in case, y'know?
@@yukikosakamura6498 I will only have five so the regular weeks will work I think, but yes, I agree that if there were several students then the Mega would probably be better.
This was incredibly helpful. I use the cousin for research and teaching, but I was struggling with not having a project-oriented set up to see how each article/syllabus/project was developing. Using the weeks as you suggest will be the perfect supplement!
I hope that that works for you! Otherwise, perhaps you could consider some digital tool? I typically use Asana for my project management (but I don't always!). Someone I know swears by Trello. Hopefully you will be able to find a perfect set up =)
My problem with time blocking is my inability to estimate accurately the amount of time I need for the task =P Do you have any ideas about how to get better estimating?
Great suggestions! I was definitely planning on using my Weeks at least partially as a work achievements log next year. Question: what pen(s) do you use in your Weeks? I want to invest in a fountain pen to reduce my waste, but I also want something fine enough that I can make the most of the limited space.
Ah, I use a pilot metropolitan, but I swapped out the nib for a pilot kakuno fine nib, which is finer than the pilot metropolitan's =) I use Noodler's Heart of Darkness which is an intense black ink that dries reasonably fast.
And just when I vowed never to buy the Weeks again. (-: I love your ideas because I see gaps in my planning and record keeping that I can adjust in any system. Thank you!
I'm excited about your new project, but sad for me. I'm also trying to learn R. I really liked the Project Management layout!! I'm working on several projects at various stages, so this layout will help me stay on top of them. I also love the Skills Development Tracker and will create a layout in the Notes pages in my Weeks Mega. Skill#1 R , skill#2 re-learn ArcGIS. Thank you, Yukiko!!!
Not sure how far along you are with R, but I've found that my R skills grew leaps and bounds when I tried making R tutorials for my students. (Then I stopped because the school didn't allow me to switch from SPSS to R and then all the gains I made dissipated.) All the best with the skill development! =)
Thanks so much for sharing your great ideas! I was wondering if you have a strategy for getting into the first step. I find the in-between times are my productivity-black-holes. Once I'm started on a task, an hour can easily go by. But it's the starting. Thanks for any suggestions!
The project spread is intriguing. I am planning to use the Hobonichi Cousin in 2019 and was going to use that weekly spread but I also like the idea of seeing how my ingoing projects will impact my week. Priorities change often ... You have me thinking how I can merge these two weekly spread ideas together, to play off of one another.
This year, I tried to use the weekly spread in the Hobonichi Cousin for the projects spread. I had two problems with it. 1. It was too much space (and I really don't like empty space in my planners) and 2. I hated writing and rewriting the same tasks week after week. So I'm thinking of moving the project spread into something much smaller (say, the Hobonichi A6 Weekly Supplement) and storing all my project tasks online. Every week, I go to the online task manager and pull out only the tasks relevant for the week. That will reduce the time spent writing and rewriting all the steps to my projects. If you find a good way to deal with project management in your Cousin, please let me know!
This year I used the hobonichi cousin for work. However, I realized I only used the hourly schedule so I moved to a b6 slim jibun techo for 2019. I use a grid leuctturm grid a5 separately for meeting/project notes. (hobonichi weeks is for personal use lol)

Finally, a video with practical and functional tips and ideas without the fluff of stickers and washi. Thanks!

You have thoughtful planner ideas. I really like Task Manager 2, because it serves to both time block and record. May try this with music practice.

Yup! You don't have to get a Weeks! You can implement these ideas in any system, even in a bullet journal! =)
Fantastic ideas as always!

Does anyone know where I can print off these blank templates so I can practice these layouts and also decide between size options?
