I needed tho listen to this and I am ever so grateful to the person uploading this video.
I've been suffering from depression for 9 years now (with ups and downs). I had a lot of faith and I was tested by some personal calamities, which I struggled to accept (or understand - the Why me syndrome).
I contemplated putting an end to my mental suffering(I have trouble forgetting what I went through), but alhamdulilah there is still some faith left in me that pulls me back from the edge.
Make du3aas for me, thank you very much my brothers and sisters

The believers do not go to humans to solve their sadness and aflictions..They connect with their Creator. They understand and believe in Qadar of Allaah. The Adkar she mentions they are asking God to keep them safe from such things. As for Jacob he said when he was afflicted with his trial. "So patience is most fitting"
And when the Messenger of God went through loosing uncle and wife he was blessed with the night journey in which the FIVE PRAYERS WERE MADE OBLIGATED. When believers are tested they make an effort to turn to God. They do not turn inwards to their own nafs or others which in turn makes things worse.
She conveninetly kept the topic of shaaytaan away when every single scholar basically says that waswaas can come from your own nafs AND shaytaan.
The believers have faith and they think positively of ALLAAH. A muslim and a mumin are different.
To say that believers go through sadness is one thing but depression? NO! They have the tools and the beleif to navigate such extreme situation so it does not reach the level that some people go to because of a lower level of Imaan.
Ensue the commenters who think that belivers do get depression and prayer and patience wont help! It only helps when these people go to a doctor and ask for help and spell their life story to these humans from A to Z. I say to you. Learn from Yaqoob how he dealt with his trial. Ponder and relfect on how the Messenger dealt with loosing his children and his wife.
It is normal to be sad and cry after loosing a loved one. We are forbidden to behave and think in abnormal manners. Eg. screaming and hitting ourselves and rejecting peoples advice to being patient in the face of calamity.
In the face of calamities shine the believers. Their reliance and love for Allaah is evident on their actions and words. Such were the messengers. And things did not reach with them to the point where they became hopeless. As depression is.

    • @JDforeveralone
      @JDforeveralone Год назад +4

In principle you are right what you are writing yet at the same time you are ignorant of a lot of other aspects of human psychology.
As for OCD or what is mentioned as wiswasa - the masha'ikh who speak intensively about wiswasa do not address cognitive behavioural aspects of it.
I sincerely ask you to look further into the subject.
It's not as black and white as you may think!
Plus I understand from your comment that you may have misunderstood some of her points.
Depression is NOT feeling sad about someone having died or gone missing or being hopeless and desparate.
May Allah swt guide us all to what is good and right!
Wa salam aleikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

I had relatives who suffered from mental/psychological illness. They were believers but that did not protect them. They were sent to modern mental hospitals which made the conditions worse. I wish there was at the time the type of wholistic approach that Dr. Rania discussed here. Not everyone is strong enough to handle things on their own, some people are weak they need appropriate help.

The key is the concept of "holism" which recognizes WHOLESOMENESS, inter- and intra-connectedness, which is HOLY. Modifying languages for unification, as opposed to differentiation, inspires the appreciation of a wondrous, common Reality which is ALWAYS SACRED, because IT is miraculous, all-inclusive, ALL-powerful . So there is NO SEPARATION between the sacred and the secular...the sufis propose the "unity of religious ideals" that bridge the gaps in awareness of our cosmic, energetic, "divine" creation in the "All One" or Allah . An expansiveness, or enlightenment of imagination (and language) needs more cross-cultural encouragement. We've been fearful, ignorant, violent and domineering/competitive for millenials. All wisdom traditions and prophets warn us this is unhealthy, self-destructive , unacceptable, forbidden! Merciless behavior persists only because the power of our primal predatory neurobiology persists subconsciously! Which we then project onto others! Conscientious leaders must unite ..AND THEN UNITE US!! Thank you for this inspiring interview/post!
