    She's an okay ship, but I think she 'feels' wrong for what she is.
    She is big, but she's clearly a medium ship with medium parts and medium capacity for her various roles, but she flies like some of the larger ships and corvettes.
    I think they need to make her fly a little more like a freelancer, get some of that millenium falcon in her that she was meant to have.
    Other than that? She's great, but a jacuzzi is not where you should store sensitive equipment like shield generators, put them in the corridor with the other modules.
    And she should probably lose the hot tub for an executive bathroom. Cos she doesn't feel luxury, she feels 'airforce 1'.

  • @Espen_Danielsen

    I love the fact it has 4 extra beds. I just hope they all will be usable. It would make it a very good "base" ship for a small org.
    I can see my self using this as a combined base/explorer/multiuse ship for a small org with up to 10 members. A couple of fighters for escort and you could take any kind of missions, and it could also bee used as a "meeting room" for the org.
    I can see it crewed with pilot, 2x gunner, snub fighter and 4 "grunts" with access to a couple of dragon fly's in the cargo compartment. Add another two members piloting their own escort crafts like a 325A and a Titan and you have a small do everything squad that is ready for any mission.
    This is the kind of role I can see it prevailing in, but the lack of a medical bed is limiting. That would be a thing to set it apart from the 600i or the MSR. As is, most people will probably dish out the extra credits for a Carrack...

    • @comradecharles4679
      @comradecharles4679 3 года назад

      Personally, I think a Caterpillar is a better option for a small org's hub vessel. The cat is modular so it could be fitted out with medical, repair and salvage all simultaneously. Also the cockpit detaches and is an independent vessel with qt and beds. This means you could park your main assortment of 3 customized modules, crew quarters, scanning room, data banks and engineering behind as a miniature station complete with shields while you take the detachable ship where you please. The left behind section even holds the turrets so it could defend itself if the cockpit wasn't attached and it was unable to flee a threat. Thoughts?

    • @Espen_Danielsen
      @Espen_Danielsen 3 года назад +2

      @@comradecharles4679 I agree. The Cat will be a perfect small crew base once it's functionality is complete. Currently though it's not worth anything except as a trader, and I was thinking of the currently available game.
      If we look at the "functionally complete" game though, I actually think I would prefer the MISC Endavor. But that is not really comparable as it is in a different price range. It is however my personal goal to get one to use as a base of operations on my "legal" account. A Cat could fit well on my other account... ;)

    And two year later still no reason for hope considering
    1) Not a word on future plans for finishing the interior fancification. (There are lots of great ideas for giving it the wow effect it really needs.)
    2) On the other hand the full-fancy 600i even getting a full internal rework now while the Phoenix is still untouched and untalked about.
    3) Extra-offenses like ripping several paint appeal features off the very expensive-exclusive Phoenix to give them exclusively to the Emerald. (While marketing tries to describe it as genius to combine a VIP lounge with a freighter style AND at the same time hinting that the RSI CEO owns the only fully gold-trimmed Phoenix. - You couldn't construct a better PR nightmare if you tried.)
    In a way that makes it the flagship of the development project.

    I prefer the Phoenix over the 600i for a few reasons. First of all it's one of my favorites, even over the Carrick, due to the windows. This ship has great visibility from the cockpit and for passengers. The other problem with the 600i is that there is just too much space which makes it kind of ugly inside imo. My main complaint about the Phoenix is that there is no restroom in the luxury area, which is a pretty minor complaint when all is said and done. The fact that it comes with a rover makes it very cool for taking friends on a tour of the game. I do think it needs some in-game upgrades however.

      @LordTiberius52 3 года назад +1

      @@Farrister so. I have a list, what I call my Day 1 fleet. Which is all the ships I intend to have bought with cash by day 1 release. And while this list may grow with new concepts, it's a good list of my career path, and distractions.
      That is to say, I'm going to start with the MSR, until I've accumulated enough money to fill the Carrack, then use it until I earn enough to fill the BMM. Then keep earning into higher value commodities, and finally have money to start buying ships. But I expect that to take a pretty long time. During which I can't afford to to buy a 350R or a Khartu-Al, or a Phoenix. So those are "distractions" which I want to own before launch.
      So, I DO like the 600i Touring. And I'll probably get one in game. I might even add it to the Day 1 list if development takes long enough. But it is beautiful on the inside. Just plain on the outside. I like it's loadout. And the master bedroom and bridge.
      The 890 is definitely my in-game goal.

    To me this ship is beautiful and probably the best looking among the medium large ship in game. Of all the variants the Phoenix is the one I like the less because it seems like a "Luxuryfied old truck", but I still appreciate the effort: it is just that the forward section does not ties well with the rear passenger area. This being said, the Conny is still one of my preferred ships, because I feel it handles right. I've got an MSR to test for a month and I think it's just gimmicky and silly with al the lost space among the maze corridors, the one way entrance through a huge ramp and the unbelievable light fighter handling for a ship that weights probably more then a Conny. With some added blade servers on the rear of the cockpit (where there's plenty of space) The Aquila would straight out be a better MSR. The Phoenix and her sisters are IMO what a large ship for a small crew should look like, with clearly defined sections: Cabin, living space and cargo, and plenty of exits in case something goes wrong, and in this case the phoenix is probably the less successful of the class.

    • @Farrister

    A bit late to the comment party but for me the snub is what makes this a no brainer for me amongst the connies. I have tried them all but the constant hassle of having to claim the Archimedes and swap snubs is what finally made me get it and haven't looked back since. 😅 It's just so superior to the Merlin. I get that this is probably not the main reason why people are drawn to this ship, but as a mainly solo player I feel that the connie offers a great soloship with medium ability to do basically all gameloops currently in the game and it's still viable with a small inpromtu crew.

    wow, since then the connie line has been buffed abit. Tho still waiting on that fated gold standard pass. As a current phoenix owner I thoroughly enjoy it in my fleet. tho the table and jacuzzi no longer function and the Archimedes docking works only some of the time. I still enjoy the snub upgrade(vs the andromeda merlin) and the additional rover is nice as more ground missions and sinkhole cave missions come online.
    I actually do recommend the phoenix over the 600i touring as it gives you a lower cost of entry into a bigger luxury ship, provides value for money with a snub and rover in one package, and manages to provide luxury without sacrificing the cargo bay unlike the 600i touring - **potential owners should consider that if it's gonna be your only ship! **** . It's plainly a Nicer, less missile armed andromeda, yes. But that was already a great ship and as a package the phoenix opens up a lot of gameplay, and RP.
    it's only real competitor in this space is it's variants and the corsair, But I intend to own the corsair also ;)
    P.S Actual luxury is - ZERO COMPROMISE. adding to my stance on the 600i touring, losing a vehicle bay is a compromise and for such a grand ship I'd like my vehicle to come with me and be at my beck and call. even the 400i understood this.

    Despite its many flaws, there is something very appealing about the constellation. I have a Loaner Aquila right now, but eventually it becomes a Corsair. So I just might have to get a Connie, to have in my Harem, I mean my hangar. But the Taurus does not "do it" for me. And I'm not sure I want to pay the price tag for a 600i. So I've been thinking of a Phoenix, covers my luxury ship, and desire for a Connie.

    • @Farrister
      @Farrister  4 года назад

      Honestly I would be tempted to stick with the Aquila or go for the Andromeda. Otherwise hold out for a 600i upgrade, based on the state of things at the moment

    • @LordTiberius52
      @LordTiberius52 4 года назад +1

      @@Farrister well, there is definitely a good case for The Andromeda. Almost $100 less than the Aquila. And it has that extra turret.
      And I do like the 600i Touring.
      But I have a "day 1 target fleet" and none of these ships are on that list. They are all sort of "extra credit" or "wish list" anyways. But Target fleet should be reached by the end of next year. So i actually give it consideration after that. And it will probably go like this: unmelt spare 2018 exploration pack. Terrpin - > Andromeda. Andromeda - > Phoenix. Phoenix - > Touring. Provided those CCUs even exist. Which I think they don't.

    I really dislike the constelation series in general, but the luxury aspect, still decent cargo, and the snub for racing/exploring make the Phoenix interesting. Personally, I would like the 400i with the grav gen moved somewhere else, the hatchet nose changed to regular landing gear, and the "garage" replaced with a P72 dock. But I expect that will never happen. The real question is, can docking a Kruger with a Connie allow you to refuel and/or repair the Kruger. The answer to that will effect whether I get the Phoenix or not.

    I have had both the Phoenix and the 600i and honestly, the only reason the Phoenix is not my daily driver anymore is the shield holes that makes it go boom in a few hits by even a Prospector in certain angles. I also wanted bigger and bigger ships so CCUed it to the 600i and melted for a 890 Jump.
    Compared to other bigger luxury ships, the Phoenix feels better than the others. It might be the complete package with snub and rover, it might be the iconic exterior and cockpit design, it might be the all around windows in the passenger section making it feek like a proper touring ship.
    I really like its view from the passenger module, without a doubt the best of any ship in SC, even in combat where you can see the missiles flying.
    I will definitely unmelt it when we get the next token. It might be way smaller and less luxurious than my current 890J, but it used to be my first dream ship and it still has something special.
    In the end, it's not about checking some utility boxes, it's about feeling right at home in your ship, and the Phoenix definitely does just that, even with its lack of amenities compared to the 600i or even 890J.

      @mikeonlinux5491 3 года назад +1

      @@PetStarlings Yes, you can upgrade your components, but as Farrister said, every ship component has a size and you can only replace them with the same size. That being said, some upgraded components are nearly twice as good than the stock loadout, depending on the ship.
      You can choose between 5 component classes for each ship: Civilian, Competition, Industrial, Military and Stealth, depending on what you are looking for.
      Basically, upgraded power plant and coolers let you use your ship functions longer without overheating, upgraded weapons do more damage, upgraded shields can take more damage and/or recharge faster, upgraded Quantum Drive can be more fuel efficient and slower or faster but more fuel hungry... Higher class components tend to have more HP (unless they are in the stealth class), so there is also that.
      Also, if your ship comes with gimballed weapons, you can equip fixed weapons one size bigger instead, but you will lose aim assist. This is recommended on nimble fighters, not so much on bigger ships as it's harder to hit targets.
      All of this is already in the current iteration of Star Citizen, so you don't need to wait a later date to improve your ship. Actually, an upgraded starter Aurora or Mustang can be a very effective fighter against small targets, you can add 2 additionnal size 1 guns right out of the box and upgrade the ones already installed, plus shields and plant, all with ingame money :)
      The only thing is that for now, there is no description of the relative effectiveness of components in the PU, so you will have to rely on external websites to know what components to buy to improve your ships until we get a proper UI for that.

    Something about the ship's name doesn't match the ship.

      @@Farrister I have some ideas if anyone involved with the ship ever wants to listen. The Phoenix Star Constellation has a star called Ankaa...which is the Bightest Star...it really needs to represent its name to give honor to the Phoenix Spirit/Concept. Since its a bird that never touched the ground, its a great idea for a ship. I only am heavy into this for being Phoenix in a virtual world for years and also a virtual world builder.

    the worst part about this compared to 600i, is that you can ccu to 600i and have that sweet lifetime, but phoenix? nope.
    exept you take some of the outrageous overpriced megapacks.
