  • Welcome to BHT Hong Kong Neon. If you've been following me for a while, you know of my many travels and film photography projects in Hong Kong. I was recently interviewed by ‪@TheCooph‬ talking about my Hong Kong Neon project, and I was featured as the cover article for Silvergrain Classics Magazine from Germany, again featuring my neon project. I shot it entirely on ‪@CineStillFilm‬ 800T and various film cameras, but mostly with my ‪@LeicaCameraUSA‬ M7 and 28mm Summicron.
‪@Rivian‬ Spaces Vancouver recently reached out and asked if I would be interested in exhibiting anything at their Brentwood location. I pitched my Hong Kong Neon project, and he was happy to help me showcase this project. Please join me on February 8th, 2024 from 6-9pm for my first solo exhibition featuring my project Hong Kong Neon. Please register here:

Thanks to everyone who helped me over the years to make this project possible. Thanks to Camera Film Photo for processing, scanning, and storing all my film; and Cinestillfilm for providing me with the film for this project. Thanks to ‪@chrismeetschris‬ and Ryan Savella of Arcade Original for your video footage from Hong Kong. Finally, thank you Rivian Spaces Vancouver for sponsoring this project and exhibition. If this exhibition is successful, we may take it on the road. If you wish to be a sponsor or help in any way, please contact me directly. Thank you and happy shooting!

Congratulations on fantastic images and project. Really tops! If not for the commute (from Santa Fe, NM) I would be there for your show.

Wow just discovered your channel. Awesome! I miss HK, planning to visit my grandma there soon. I started doing street photography and HK was really fun. The amount of neon lights, alleys, cabs and each station had something interesting to shoot.

Nice pics! Films are certainly still alive! The photos seem to have higher contrast than the usual CineStill T800 pics. Did you apply contrast enhancement afterwards? Very good twists.

Thanks! Yes, since it’s colour negative and not positive, I always process the files, although I try not to lose the essence of the film.

Awesome! What lab and scanner do you use? Those are the cleanest scans I have seen in a long time!

Those images are pretty sharp! Did you shoot these ate box speed? Did you push or pull?

I always shoot Cinestill 800T at ISO 500, but night photography is very difficult to meter. My M7 is pretty good, but I spot metered the mid tones and avoided the highlights and shadows to get an even night photo.

Do you find traveling with film is an issue and do you fly with the undeveloped film back into Canada?
