I don’t smell the cumin/body odor at all. Very much the orange bitter but only up close. From a distance it is utterly delicious and classy. And to be honest, even though it’s "old", I’ve never smelled anyone wear this. So it’s new to me. I’m in my late 20s
This is a fantastic review. You make the fragrance relatable in your description, not something I've seen from any other reviewer. Seriously brilliant work. Thank you.
I tried this today for the first time. After 4 hours the citruses are still present. Very nice. A classic men's fragrances that is versatile, but not suitable for the very cold weather.
Fragrances like this and Terre D'hermes (same scent basically also by the same perfumer) are really for those who seriously want to stand out in every way. Magnificent fragrance.
Well Terre d' Hermes is almost the same price as Cartier if you buy it online and/or use a discount coupon. I'm going to stick with Cartier Declaration because I already know I love it and I'm definitely not going to blind buy a fragrance I'm not very familiar with.
I've worn Cartier Declaration since the beginning of the fragrance and I've never found any fragrance I like better. I've never experienced the body odor issue that I've heard many people mention and contrary to what you said about not getting compliments, I've been chased down by women to compliment me on my cologne and oddly enough I've even had men compliment me on it as well. If I could find another fragrance that I liked better I would buy it. Of course everyone's body chemistry is different so it may smell unique on me. Regarding fragrances that have a foul odor, for me Hugo Boss smells dirty on me. I never heard anyone else mention that about Hugo Boss so apparently it's just my body chemistry that brings out the dirty side of Hugo Boss.
Great review, AC. Happened to have recently purchased sample. I found that the cumin was not too much for me. Great scent and informative review. Thanks.
I had the same experience as you. The cumin note really turned my off when I first tried a sample, but came back to a year or two later (after my nose had developed a bit) and did really appreciate it. I don't think its full bottle worthy for me, but I can definitely see why it's considered a masterpiece, especially at this price-point.
Amazing review sir, never tried this one. I love declaration d'un soir though. Very light rose and a perfect white shirt fragrance. Will try this one too. Thank you 😊🙏
I've tried it like maybe 2 times. First time I sprayed it over a piece of paper, I didn't get it. The second time I sprayed it over my hand, but just a tiny bit, and couldn't grasp the whole fragrance. It was still a bit off putting due to the cumin note, as it is too sharp for me. And I do understand your upset over JCE, but he does oranges like no one else. I love TdH EDC + it's perfume upgrade, it is just amazing over the summer / fall seasons, a bit too harsh for the spring to my nose. I guess I have to try it again! Stay safe, Stoyan
i agree Stoyan, he does oranges very well, you should try his FM Bigarade Concentree . Declaration is very hard to like in a few wears for some reson mate, get a 2 ML decant and test it out properly to see if you like it. I think you will like it.
The magic of Cartier Declaration's sweaty smell is to attract women because some women find sweat smell/body odor of hardworking, handsome or successful men are so tantalizing.💖💖🌹
You must try Eau D' Hermes if you haven't already. When I first tried it, it was bit of a shocker. Perfumer Edmond Roudnitska is well-known for creating Eau Sauvage (1966) but to me, Eau D'Hermes is his finest achievement.
Hi AC, I feel the same way about Jean Claude Ellena. Strictly based on your opinion, which fragrance do you enjoy more - Voyage D'Hermes or Declaration?
For me Terre d'Hermes and Declaration always were like cousins. So now hearing from you that they share the same creator makes sense that I smelled similar character in both. I love them. But I really don't get any cumin in Declaration (bought in 2019). So I checked it on Fragrantica which says it contains caraway. SURPRISE: caraway IS NOT cumin. They look similar but they're different. Cumim comes from the parsley family, caraway is a member of carrot family. In cooking they are interchangeable but not the same. And probably that's why I don't get any cumin (which I totally hate in PDM Pegasus for example).
I have to avoid cumin like the plague! It's really a horrible situation from me, but it might work to my advantage practicing social distancing! 😂 Great review my friend!
I know that Cumin doesn't work for you Dan, but do sample it to see if its something you like. I think this is a very good fragrance with many aspects.
i dont see that the BO smell is a bad thing, it can add an interesting contrast, if JCE removed that, it would probably be too boring. I like animalic nuances that can add some layer and depth to a fragrance, if done correctly
AC ,Detailed review as always .. however it puts me in a Dilemma whether its worth it. Compliments are not really important but if people could also smell a sweat like element after wearing a perfume which is a bummer IMHO.
Himanshu, the star of the show here is Cardamom and the bitter Orange, the cumin note provides depth and sex appeal but yes it can come across as BO so worth testing on skin my friend.
I agree I have tried a few of the flankers and the OG is very good, and I quite like the Parfum version too but D' un Soir goes totally feminine on me :(
I really like your discipline with money well done! I have many favorite women's fragrances. Some that I think of are Youth Dew by Estee Lauder and Amouage Jubilation for Women.
Yesterday I found a fantastic masterpiece from J. Casanova - For ever perfume, it is so lovely 😊 cool and long lasting fragrance, love it, very cheap affordable for all
Fabulous review as always...sir wanted to ask you one thing which one should I buy Guerlain habit roughe or icon denhill. I want loud perfume or any other option ?
I find the cumin body odor part of the review hilarious because I've worn this fragrance for over 2 decades and never had a whiff of bo smell. In regards to it not getting compliments, I've had women run full on sprint in heels to ask me what cologne I was wearing. I don't think women would do that for a scent that smells like body odor.
I have sampled this and d’un soir. D’un Soir I really enjoy but this one has a note that I struggle with. Is there pepper or something that would come across as such? Will try it again after seeing your review.
hi..is this newest batch?is its any good?I bought in last week parfum version of this cologne..I loved it very much..the paper one week still projects in my room..
Very nice review AC. I would like it if you can review it’s flanker Declaration d'Un Soir someday, I think it’s one of the best rose based fragrance from a designer.
Question about this frag... Does the oakmoss present itself prominently in the dry down and does it project well? Or would you say the oakmoss is balanced in the dry down and sort of mixed in with the amber and other base notes. I ask because im looking for a frag with a potent oakmoss during the dry down.
this doesn't have a prominent Oakmoss, its very well blended in. The best Oakmoss I can recommend is Vintage Guerlain Mitsouko , if you can find it that is , failing which you could look at Paco Rabbane Pour Homme Vintage which I have reviewed.
@@ACSmellsGood thanks for the info! I'll keep an eye out for the vintage Guerlain you mentioned. Going to go watch your review of Paco Rabbane pour homme. I find Dior Homme edt 2020 formulation has a prominent oakmoss note in the drydown. But i suppose im looking for the fragrance with oakmoss being the main accord. You know that smell sometimes you get it near water fountains inside shopping malls. Like a musty loamy moss.
i've gotten many positive reactions to this within the first few hours. I've noticed past about 3 hours the scent starts to change its course and get very very sour, almost like rotten oranges or lemons, and body-odorish to the point where I don't find it attractive anymore.
Sel de vetiver and bel ami vetiver are two of my top 5 of all time, so I’ll always respect JC Ellena. I agree though, he does repeat themes in his works...can’t stand the iso e in Terre D’Hermes also
First, your reviews are amazing, pure joy! Now this is interesting, for me Terre-dHermes is also too "orangy" but I love "Terre-dHermes-extreme Vetiver" and now I see that this is the only flanker not done by JCE, the nose is Christine Nagel...I think in other video you called JCE a "crazy genius", no?
@@waynemartin4881 Really? I am so sorry I normally do in most of my videos so thats a bad miss :(. I get about 6 - 8 hours of longevity quite easily and more on shirt.
The forgotten gem..nothing against Terre D’Hermes because I love JCElena’s works, but it’s mass marketed and I would rather stand out wearing Cartier Declaration.
I think its a nice fragrance but it lacks any kind of sensuality. It works wonders though in humid climates (like Bangkok or Hong Kong), that cardamom-cedarwood combo keeps you fresh all day.
@@ACSmellsGood Interesting, I guess different notes mean different things to people. Yeah, it would be a perfect scent for a doctor, just like Platinum Egoiste.

I tried this today for the first time. After 4 hours the citruses are still present. Very nice. A classic men's fragrances that is versatile, but not suitable for the very cold weather.
