      - I highly recommend you read Canrights book ‘adventism renounced’. I’m juts re reading it. And I’m the preface/introduction he talks about the classic adventist default approach to attacking peoples character. And as I read his writing saying that it was happening to him even then, and reading how he was happily married with 4 children and had lived a happy and respected life in the baptist religion I was reminded yet again that he probably loved a post adventist life that actually wasn’t filled with misfortune or failure! And that the fabricated lives to make him appear poor, failed, diminished and wishing he’d never left adventism were all lies. By all accounts he lead a successful, meaningful and prosperous life post adventism! Let’s say Canrights secretary did even meet him and work for him briefly. The whole book is filled with character assassination. And the author, Carrie Johnson, was ‘wheeled’ out at camp meetings etc all over the place to continue the character assassination. I can’t find anywhere where Adventists have actually refuted Canrights claims! And yea. As you wrote that they were wrong to promote his misfortunes and errors I even had a penny dropping moment (because literally 5 minutes ago I was reading the preface to his book) where I realised he didn’t even love a life of misfortune! He lead an abundant life. The only sad thing was his wife died later in life and he had his leg amputated. The leg was well after Carrie Johnson had met him. So let’s say she did meet him and work for him. It would have been at the time his wife had just died. So yea. Maybe he was depressed and forlorn. Who wouldn’t be! But to extrapolate that he was always like that is just shamefully wrong!! He was a good man. An honourable man and lead a wonderful life after leaving adventism. For me, and I don’t say anyone should copy me, I’m so glad I left the sda church. Like Canright. My life has been so much better since doing so. And like he says in his book, he remained friends with those adventist friends that stood by him. Anyway. Thanks for your comment! We’re on the same page!!!

    Even if one decides EGW was not a prophet but instead a spiritual or theological guide for the church, she was dishonest.
    I don’t like when people say EGW ‘borrowed’ from others writings. That would indicate she asked permission and gave credit to the original author. Instead she actively chose to participated in plagiarism, which is stealing someone’s work and saying it is your own. This is total dishonesty. She knew what she was doing was wrong and still did it for her own momentary gain.
    Plagiarism is stealing! For a woman who was insistent on keeping the OT laws including the 10 commandments, she actively broke at least one of the 10 commandments.
    You should not steal.
    Now according to EGW, if you don’t keep the law and become perfect like Jesus through the law your salvation is not assured.
    That speaks volumes - do as I say, not as I do. According to what she said, this places her salvation at risk. 🤔
    Note: I believe salvation comes through my total acceptance of Jesus’ atonement for my sins at the Cross. Faith plus nothing else.

    First, I want to thank Steve for cleaning out Ellen's closet. It is about time people understand that Ellen White was a flawed human being like the rest of us.
    I am one who thinks Ellen White believed she was getting messages from God. She at best believed she had the spirit of discernment and was able to tell right from wrong based on her visions and dreams. It was her charismatic background that made her think she had a gift. It is hard to say how much of her visions were based on the influence of other people, but I have to admit that she helped to fashion a message that is unique in the Christian world.
    Even if Ellen White was completely demon possessed, I cannot understand why the Devil would create books like those in the conflict of the ages series.
    Second, the critics of Ellen White have been around from day one. There is nothing new about Canright's revelations about Ellen White. I will admit the Ellen White Estate has done a poor job by smearing the critics instead of simply addressing the charges against her. I can forgive her for copying as it seemed to be fairly common practice, but it is hard to defend her claiming she had no outside help.
    I have been reading Ellen White since I was a child. It wasn't long until I realized that she was fairly inconsistent with her teachings about the law and gospel. It took me a fair amount of research to understand one cannot always take what she was saying at face value. My approach to her writings was to simply take what was useful to me, leave behind those statements that were contradictory or unclear, and to believe nothing that was not consistent with my understanding of Bible teaching.
    I think what we are fighting against is the "Myth of Ellen White" instead of the real person. It seemed that those closest to her, who knew of her foibles, did not place her on the same category of an Old Testament Prophet. It was the Ellen White Estate that pushed the "Saintly Prophet" campaign to promote buying and selling her books.
    The Adventist church can exist without Ellen White as a OT prophet. It is widely known that she never discovered a single doctrine.
    All that is being accomplished by airing her out is to prove what I knew from the 6th Grade, that Ellen White was a human being subject to the same weakness and temptations. But I cannot disregard the value of her writing both to the church and to me as an individual. I have gleaned some insights from her writing--even if highly edited--that I would not have had without reading her books.

      @rayray4192 Год назад

      Daughter of the devil Ellen White was a narcissist. She was also a liar and a thief. Fanny Bolton and Marian Davis took scribbled manuscripts from Ellen and fashioned books out of the mostly stolen material. You call it borrowing because you are dishonest, and a demonic cultist. Ellen literally called the women her “ bookmakers.” Ellen is the prophetess who gives credibility to the Adventist movement. All cults have an inferiority complex, and Adventists are no different. Cults make outlandish statements about themselves. Daily has a teaching on the many flamboyant declarations Ellen made about herself. Full blown narcissistic behavior syndrome. Your Ellen cheerleader act is disgusting. Says a lot about you heretic. None of it good. There is no Adventism without James and Ellen White. Ellen the trance medium is the proof Adventists are the last days remnant church. Without Ellen Adventism is non existent.
