Great interview. As a designer who resides in LA, I can relate to the isolation he is referring to. LA fashion consists of street thugs who make jeans. He also has a unique perspective of fashion shows. Rick Owens has developed an ever-growing cult following because his clothing is edgy, but still very wearable. The best part of the interview is toward the end of part 1; "I need like old people who can make things".
How do you not find personality in him? I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I find him fascinating but if you aren't interested in the mind behind the brand it'd be a bore. You have to be more interested in fashion than just wearing it to appreciate this interview. Although there's a lot more to a man than a 6 minute video.
@kidoftomorrow hehe ya I know the feeling. I like very expensive clothes too but some of it (especially a particular leather jacket of mine) is just sooo...can't express it. But I feel almost sad when wearing it in case anything should touch it even air :p
well its true what he says. no offense but american fashion is a joke. there are now so many new york based designers that jack up their prices trying to compete with european fashion houses that have 50 year-old brand histories. and u see CFDA awards being given to people like P'Diddy and John Varvatos, i mean seriously? I bet they're gonna give an award to kanye west some day.
i love him! he's so inspirational. love watching his interview , he has such strong point of views

Yeah unfortunately for your viewing pleasure he's a real person and not one of the fake celebrities that wear his clothes.
