  • Apologies in advance for crying a lot during the ending! This has definitely been an amazing, emotional experience. Outer Wilds is a game I will never forget and will remain one of my favorite video games for a long, long time.

    Congratulations. You did fantastically, from a gameplay perspective. More importantly, you were genuine and open to what the game offers beyond that kind of experience, and that's where Outer Wilds really resonates. Thanks for sharing your experience with this piece of art.
    Now you get to join the rest of us, unable to erase the game from our minds and play it again fresh, and instead reliving it through the eyes of someone new. You were a joy to watch, and you made the ending feel real and current for me again. That's the most I can hope for from any playthrough. Luckily, word seems to be getting out that playing through this game is a sort of rite-of-passage for a streamer, and will always attract folks who've played before.
    I look forward to you trying the DLC, and I hope you have a good time with it. Cheers.

      Thank you so much for the incredibly kind comment! As soon as I finished the game, I immediately started searching for other peoples' playthroughs of it. I definitely find myself enjoying the streamers who take the time to try and understand the game and see everything it has to offer. I love that you called it a "piece of art" because I think that's an amazing way to describe it and not a phrase we use very often in the video game world.
      Thank you for watching and thanks for experiencing it again with me ❤

    Its been over 2 years since i played this, and i still cry at the ending every time. Partly its out of sadness, the inevitable death of the universe and all our friends within is extremely difficult to come to terms with. But i think often people also cry because the stress of the game is finally released. It keeps you on the edge for so long, that when you finally have the answers and reach the end, all those emotions come out at once. Wonderful playthrough, I'm glad i came across you and i enjoyed your playstyle immensely. Looking forward to seeing whatever games you play next

    Finally someone with an adequately named channel played this game! (Although the hearthian ships are probably rather made of plywood.)
    Thank you very much for your playthrough! And I hope all the scary talk does not hold you back from playing the DLC. Yes, some parts are a bit spooky, but it is also really good and beautiful...

    I catch myself not looking for complete playthroughs or super cuts, but mainly at the reaction to the end and maybe some things like the interloper core or the sun station... I do not really undertsand why I want to see strangers going through this experiences... part is validation for sure, "Was my experience valid or was I the outlier?"... but after a view times watching others I think there is more to it... People in our modern socciety tend to hide their feelings to an unhealthy extend... Especially when I see someone crying I have the gut instinct for help, I want to help... If the person is a stranger, I feel some restraint, to respect their boundaries... But my mind usually helds me captive and I try to look out for them, maybe I can get more insight in the situation and offer some relief... If it is someone I know or if the situation allows for some conversation, I might end up offering help... Which might end up just lending some company... And this brings me to the experience of this videos... When we sit here and watch someone elses experience of something we all know so well, but are not able to interact or help... At least some of use have the urge to lend some company... to share this experiene... and even to cry along... a parasocial phenomenon... In someway it is sad... or maybe bitter sweet? ... well, I also teared up writing this... :D

    As frustrating as it was watching you struggle to figure out how to get Chert's drums, it's completely understandable. The game is probably one of the best ever in terms of getting across concepts and knowledge but the solution for that really comes out of left field and doesn't appear anywhere else in the game. I think they should've let players look through the telescope and do it.
    Congrats on completing and experiencing most of Outer Wilds. PLAY THE DLC!!! And then once you have fully completed it I'd recommend looking at some "timeline of events" and "things you missed" explanations you can watch on RUclips. Having it put in chronological order helps cement, and make sense of, everything you learned and will give you an even greater appreciation of the whole tale. BUT PLAY THE EXPANSION FIRST, ITS JUST AS AMAZIING AS THE REST.

    • @Cardboard_Spaceship
      @Cardboard_Spaceship  3 месяца назад +1

      Was the zoom in feature a function for the entire game? If so, I don't think I ever used it. The telescope felt like the obvious thing there but it wasn't used! I'm so glad someone in chat was able to help me out with that. It felt like a silly thing to get stuck on.
      I will definitely be playing the DLC, just taking a little break to play and finish a few other games. I want to research a lot more about the background and story of the game.

    • @fluffy_walrus

      @@Cardboard_Spaceship The zoom was in the base game, but it wasn't really pushed as a part of a tutorial, so it was only ever just a little option in your HUD. It took until I was around 20 hours in until I realized it was an option, so you're not alone XD
      I did like how the campfire at the end of the universe focused on the stuff each of our hearthian friends was doing or experienced. Gabbro's relaxation and quantum poetry, Chert studying the stars, Riebeck navigating through Brittle Hollow's collapsing architecture, Feldspar facing the anglerfish head-on, Solanum and the Nomai standing on the shoulders of those that came before them. And then Esker, just wanting to be around the others, to make some music together.
      The DLC/Expansion is something I bought more as a way to show my appreciation for the devs, not expecting it to hold a candle to the base game, but it absolutely does in its own special way, and it really helps bring a fresh experience for the base game's ending once you're done it.

      I did the same thing with the telescope. It's a common problem. @@Cardboard_Spaceship

    • @Buggaton
      @Buggaton 7 дней назад

      @@Cardboard_Spaceship I ended up using the zoom a lot during my play through by chance because if you speak to Chert at different points in the loop you get different dialogue as they are the only one that seems to realise what is going on with all the supernovae and what's about to happen to the sun. It made me want to zoom in and look at the explosions I was seeing up close.
      I think maybe one person mentions it in Timber Hearth? But like so many things mentioned in the crater village, we forget them and never revisit it.

    I love the game but there's a few important puzzles that I wish devs would go back to rework. Zoom in to grab puzzle at the end is one of them. It's a feature that's rarely used in the game. They need to add more zoom in puzzles before player gets to the endgame.
    Echoes of the eye is just as good as the base game and it expands the lore.

      The zoom in definitely threw me for a loop! I agree that adding in more of those puzzles would have made it easier.

      Say what you want about the zoom puzzle but I think the natural response to "there's something orbiting that star and I can't make it out" really should be "wait, my signalscope has a zoom feature!"

    The track that plays when you remove the advanced warp core is called "Final End Times." That section is, IMO, the best part of the game. As beautiful as the ending was, it just doesn't affect me like Final End Times does. You have quite literally pulled the plug on the time loop and your own immortality. The loop will not reset again. This is it. And as "Final End Times" swelled while I rushed to the Vessel as fast as possible, the stakes felt higher and more real than I thought video games were capable of. And the game didn't even try to exaggerate it by threatening the characters or more of the Universe or anything. It was just the knowledge that I was no longer safe. That I had removed my tether mid-rock-climb and was no longer allowed to mess up. Realizing the magnitude of separating myself from the one thing that allowed me to keep coming back from every mistake was one of the most potent gaming experiences I've ever had.
    I'll never forget it.
    And it makes me REALLY feel bad for all the people who died in DB during this part and completely killed the vibe.
