The coverage on grandstand must have been crap. They used to nip in and out of the live action for horse racing etc..
Wow, does union today look much like league then.
It had to look more like league , because it’s shite .

Not sure but often, in those days, the BBC broadcast the second half of matches live.
It's the second half. Eddie Waring (still recognise his voice all the way from the 1970s) mentions this several times at the beginning of the commentary.
