In honor of Black History Month...did you know that the richest black woman in the world circa 1910 was a 12 year old African-American girl named Sarah? FROM OKLAHOMA.
After her family was originally sold to the Creek Indians and moved to Oklahoma in the early 1900s, Sarah Rector was given land at the age of 4 as a member of the tribe that turned out to be sitting on liquid gold. Nearly overnight, this young woman became arguably the richest black girl in the world when that bubbling crude started flowing.
