Evolution of Mobile Phones 📱

- Get ready for an exciting journey through the evolution of mobile phones! In this educational video, I will take you through the most iconic and significant cell phones that have shaped the way we communicate over the past three decades.
Our journey starts at the very beginning with the Motorola Dynatec, the first ever functioning mobile phone. As we travel through history, you will discover the greatest milestones in mobile technology. We will explore the Japanese cell phones that introduced cameras for the first time, and the IBM Simon, the first-ever smartphone with complex apps. We will also delve into how Apple's revolutionary iPhone transformed IBM's creation.
Originally created in 2015, I have continued to refine and improve this video until today. I apologize if I missed any important phones along the way, but I'm confident that you will still gain a newfound appreciation for mobile phones by watching this video. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey!

Crazy to realize how advanced some of these phones were before the "most well-known" Nokia 3310
Also, it just blew my mind, that there were only 7 years between the Nokia 3310 and the first iPhone, while 12 years since the first and lattest iPhones. Crazy

Corrections:
My apologies, this video took me a lot of effort but a little amount of mistakes came through. Thanks for sharing them:
- The iPhone 11 came out after this video did. The phone isn't a big evolution to be fair anyway.
- iPhone 6 did not introduce 3D touch, it was the 6s.
- The iPhone SE was released in 2016.
And by the way I have not included every phone because either I forgot, or I didn't find them interesting, or the video would be way too long with them.

Born in 2003, I realise I am one of the last people who can actually remember life pre-smartphone era. When I see kids who are 5 or 6, I realise they'll never know what that life was like. I don't know whether that's good or bad but it's tragic definitely.
I m born 1999 Realy that time was. Too good
@Obed Ningshen I wish I could have lived your era as a teen. Still whatever good was left, us 2000s kids experienced it by early 2010s. After that, everything went downhill
I swear it was much better. You didn't see have the obsession to check a gadget 1000 freaking times per second, to see what others commented in your photo, who liked you and shit like that. @@SpirosKiriakopoulos absolutely man. Nowadays, Everything, including people's behavior and attitude is so fake. Everyone wants to be "socially accepted" only because social media says so. And you would never know what life was like before phones
I had a mobile in 1985, cost a mint and calls cost £1 per minute even if the recipient didn't answer. It's main selling point was the ability to store 10 numbers. Whooooo!

Ahh yes, I remember the old Nokia's very well. In 1995, the same year I got my first desktop PC, the Nokia 2110 could survive a fall from any height. I was up on my roof drunk one night and dropped it off the very top of our 3 story right onto the driveway below. It still worked when I managed to get back down to find it.

Nah not for atleast a couple years. The ones that are around now Huawei mate X and Samsung find use plastic screens so you have to tap them quite hard to register unlike gorilla glass you see in most phones these days that register with the slitest touch.
When touch screens phones first come around and they had plastic screens that you had to tap quite hard to register it's like that on folding phones so so think how long it took them to make it better that's probably gunna be around the same time they can get folding phones to work well aswell cos you can't fold gorilla glass without it shattering 😂 so they will have to find a bendy material that can work with a touch screen without you having to punch the screen for it to register and that's when I reckon they will start becoming popular.
I have only ever seen 1 galaxy fold since release and they said they wish they just got a normal phone as it was bulky and the foldable display wasn't great and the front screen is too small to use unless your making a quick call. It's also annoying to unfold everytime you send a text.

1980's - we had phones, obviously.... and they had mobile (Brick) phones back then too!
Are you living in a third world country or something? How is it that you don't know all this??? Pfft!
I remember back in 2006 or 2005 I was at Thanksgiving at my grandaunt's and it was really late and my cousins were playing on their phones some little game where you shot paper balls in a basket. I remember legit begging them to let me play. It was one of the phones the slide out keyboard
My late father had a radio phone in his Rolls Royce in the late 60's.That was very cool. 😎
Sounds suspicious....
Lol

4:19. My first ever smart phone 😔 Those days!
Awesome Video! The phone you guys presented as being a Nokia 5110 is actually a 5125.
2:27 while Microsoft is making a desk top Nokia is making a phone that takes you back to the 80s
Nice. Next one should do a size evolution, to see how phones went from big to small to big again.
1990 phones = Calling
2021 Phone = Calender, calculator, camera, music player, TV, potable game console, sound recording, calling, video call, surfing the internet, online shopping, tv remote, texting, torch light, maps, vertual assistant that can even turn your lights on
I watch this video over and over again 😀
Mgnfi: What's next?.
Me: The end of the world.

@@kaizakiarata9313 I hope you Japanese are working on inventing an invisible phone. That is expected of you. ;)
@@bozok4573man I'm not japanese I only loves anime and that's common! 😦
@@kaizakiarata9313 I thought you are Japanese. However, it doesn't matter. I don't like Japanese cartoons, just girls, they are cute.
iPhone literally started what every phone has today: multitouch
And android started what iphone has today.
WIRELESS CHARGING
@trinidad media nah not everyone uses wireless charging tho, but every smartphones uses multitouch
pity that apple is stopped innovating, they were the best but since iphone 6 ....
The original iPhone was based on a display manufactured by LG. LG launched the first multitouch phone with the LG Prada in December 2006. But the video does not mention this phone unfortunately.
@@TrinidadMedia you destroy him
To think that smartphones are now so widespread and are for many a complete PC replacement is kinda crazy
Now we can watch a video about the first cell phones from our cell phones.
Even the background music so nostalgic like in the 90s or 80s.

@@soniao2034 But IPhone copied Samsung with the BIG BIG screen..

IBM that was cool
It was a combination of multitouch, easy and digestable user interface and desktop level hardware that made IPhone a massive success.
I've seen them evolve over the years, from fairly large devices to the various designs, and now the smart phone. The land line was the most popular way to phone when I was a child, either from home, office or a call box. Now they're used for internet, social media, texts, apps, timetables, information, games, reminding, GPS, calculating, news, downloading music/films, uploading, storage, photographs, listening to music, watching clips/films, taking photos, recording clips and much more and oh yes phoning. People have become obsessed with them for good or bad.
temo el dia en que la tecnologia sobrepase nuestra humanidad el mundo solo tendra una generacion de idiotas albert einstein
for bad in my opinion. people are more antisocial. And I think a lot of stuff phones have now are completely unnecessary (including social media, youtube and movie apps) not that a smart phone isn't a good idea, I only have the important stuff on mine and it's very handy but most people in the world don't use them right
@@gggumball I agree totally. People seem so absorbed by their phones and feel anxious and lost without them, to such an extent they are more interested in their phone than what's gong on around them.
This is an issue when the phone governs their lives as opposed to them governing their phone.
@@ROCKINGMAN we are at a stage now where technology is pretty much controlling us
I remember from the early 80's the "portable" Mobira NMT phones (battery weighted about 5 kg)

Raise your hand 🖐 if you owned 'Nokia 3310'. 😂😂
I still remember vividly the hype/transition from LED screens to Coloured ones. Now, you have 4k 8k capability displays for phones.
