    This RTS CV mechanic promoted teamwork, using overlapping AA networks, your allied CV's fighters, and AA cruisers to defend against the overwhelming power of the enemy CV. Strikes like this where certainly possibly, but if you'd suffered a strike like this it meant you fucked up in some fashion. Meanwhilst today's CVs deal not significantly lower damage numbers in similar timeframes (measuring time between strikes), whilst AAA has become impotent, CAP extremely limited, and defanging a far more easy to mitigate mechanic.

    • @T0ffik1
      @T0ffik1 Год назад +13

      Btw the old CV's still had lower dmg outputs then current ones :D. DMG charts are topped by new tier 10's and super cv's. I agree with that you wrote otherwise. They just had to lower dmg on planes by 30% or so and CV's wouldnt be half as dangerous with working AA in old times etc.

    I think they should've made just a few changes to RTS CVs and they wouldve been fine, like adding plane health instead of their health being binary was one thing I thought they should've added to RTS and its in the current version but the unlimited planes kinda makes it pointless imo

  • @tragedyofwind
    @tragedyofwind Год назад +16

    just imagine, the resource management of rts cv. there are so many noob Cv captain, send all their planes early and quit in 10min because they are out of plane, this is why better balancing than the now CV. old CV promote team work gaemplay, ew cv promote passive gameplay, it is not rare to see today cv game where the planes took more hp than 2-3 BB hps combined.

    RTS carrier play was only a good balance pass away from being a great class. Having the ability to actively counter-play the enemy CV by using your controllable fighters to screen critical ships, stop strikes and ultimately deplane your enemy is a feature that I sorely miss.

    The good old days. When CV was CV. When full aa build ships denied CV when good players cancel each other. RTS CV was best. And then WG become greedy. They only reason rework was made wasn't because players ask for that. The really reason was that they wanted CVs in consoles and RTS do not work with joystick. That's why CVs were butchered

    I think the best way to sum it up was that back then it felt more fair fighting a CV, notice how the BB was all alone of a flank with no one to support him? One CA there and you would be lucky to get a third of those torps in the water.

    I remember the day when I learned the value of AA.. It was my first time in the Aoba, I lost all faith in the Japanese cruiser line.. Furutaka was a pain to get through.. Then it happened a squad from an RTS carrier tried to attack our teams CV, and My Aoba's AA lit up the planes taking them all out.. Sure, we lost the game eventually, but I learned some of the additional uses of the Aoba..
    I grew to love CVs too, about a month or two before that stupid rework hit, lost my U.S.S. Bogue and had my Langley progress reset.. Today CVs are a joke in this game... If anyone were to tell me they are OP, I would say,"You Don't know the true power of the CV and you never will..Get good scrub.." I no longer follow, idiots who whine about how Op a CV of today is.. CVs of today can only spot, and harass the occasional BB.. Back in the day CVs commanded respect.. That was an era to be remembered, when wargaming absolutely nailed what it would be like to command a CV, it was almost like a simulation.. Cruisers back then, were important also.. Players learned to work as a team.. Too many DD drama queens, in PVP.. I will never hate the CV, whether I am the target, or not..
    In fact, I don't hate any ship in this game, or the players who play these ships.. I only hate the whiners who want there to be less game to play..

    The amount of of micro management CVs needed though to just pull their weight, I'm not even talking about affecting the match just not being a burden on your team was insane to anyone but the committed RTS player. Still trying to figure out how WG thought that players who could make RTS work would be overwhelmed with a smaller workload in the rework.

      Had a ton of fun pairing my carrier, usually Kaga, with my buddy in an AA cruiser like Atlanta, depleting a few waves worth of the enemy carriers planes who came to snipe me. and then using that near total air superiority to kill him and a number of others. I really miss it, you had to think about what you were doing. Which is funny because according to Jingles WG thinks carrier players are too stupid to manage what they are given.

      Bro you have no idea how hard it could be to set up a strike like this, and the guy you hit had to royally fuck up to put himself in a position like that. Carrier RTS gameplay was fucking HARD. A single cruiser with even the tiniest amount of battlefield awareness could shut down a carrier player hard, and if the enemy team stayed even a little condensed you'd pay a steep price to make a strike against it, and that was way more painful back then when you had limited numbers of aircraft.

    • @kalh5158
      @kalh5158 Год назад +2

      @@chunkblaster Please you could cross torps destroyers and they had no way to evade. Ok it was harder to play Carrier RTS, but when you mastered it you were way too much powerful. And if you were bad then your team was even more screwed vs a good Carrier player.

    • @chunkblaster
      @chunkblaster Год назад +5

      @@kalh5158 bro a perfectly timed manual cross drop was THE HARDEST maneuver to master, and if you got caught in it you made about 6 other mistakes first. Carriers weren't perfect by anymeans but look at the alternative: the new carriers are even more annoying to deal with as they have infinite aircraft, can attack the same ship numerous times in one go and have no hard counter including the enemy carrier. How is that a positive change
