    In regards to Evil Ernie 1, which you think is "decent", a 9.4 WP sold at auction last night at 647.50, up 23% from its last sale and not too far off from its all time high. Its a cornerstone of copper age horror and deserves respect.

      Which is exactly why I said it was decent and didn't have one negative thing to say about it.

    I'm getting the feeling the author spec'd hard into these books and now is trying to sell them.

    EXCELLENT episode Chris...I only have Supernatural 5, New Gods 1, Marvel Two in One 54. The others: Eh! Regarding magazines. I think they're great. The Marvel horror mags, Savage Sword, Planet of the Apes, Rampaging Hulk, Howard the Duck, etc were fantastic! Having said all that. I have all my books for the love and not for investment.

    This guy probably just has all 12 of these books and he's looking to move them for an upgrade. 😂
    I'll admit, I do have have half of them myself though. 😬

    The days of books doubling on some tv or movie announcements are over for now at least! Imho!

    I don't disagree with most of the "buy" picks. Original bronze age horror is gold. New Gods #1 .. I'm a buyer of that as well. The relative rarity of this book is not commonly understood and it will one day shock people. Who knows when?
    The reasoning is mostly specious and I disagreed with most of it. You did well to call the problems out.
    Another great show

      I definitely like new gods as a book that has intrinsic long-term investment value, but the reasoning behind him picking it was way off base. Thanks for watching!

    For a list of attainable in various grades yet must own for the present and future of comics, I would say these character's first appearance. Swamp thing, Spawn, Ninja Turtles, Black Spiderman or Venom, John Stewart, Damien Wayne, Rocket Raccoon, King Shark, Deathstroke, Etrigan the Demon, Static and Grifter. Some of these books like Ninja turtles are very expensive but you can still buy a third print. Other books like King Shark, Spawn and Damien have Variants that are the ones you want to track down before they pull away too much. I would be interested to see if anyone could make a better list than this.

    Regarding Conan: "It might be a safe bet that a feature film and/or television series is eventually going to happen." Ummmmm......Arnold Schwartzenegger wants a word........

    I don’t think any of us know anything about the market anymore. In my 40 years of collecting I’ve never seen books go down because of a movie announcement. There’s literally a sea of collections for sale right now. No matter what ya list your competing against tons of other listings eager to sell now. I’m hoping there’s enough of us left when this is over so the industry doesn’t completely die.

      Most keys have popped because most characters have appeared in movies or TV shows. I know the CW DC TV shows had tons of first appearances that happened and didn't really move the market with those CW appearances.

    • @JernosComicsPopCulture
      @JernosComicsPopCulture  9 месяцев назад +1

      @@teetoo3790 Your statement will makes sense as long as we clarify how you are defining "popped." Most keys "pop" inherently, due to intrinsic values the book gives us. Only in recent years have live action properties impacted comic values. Those types of "pops," or increases on the market, never hold long long term.

      By saying they popped, they matured. Had their day in the sun. Not going to go up much, most likely down or stagnant.

    Not a fan of the article. Conan days are gone. Its seen its best movies already. Only room for hope are Indy books. Thats the future. Disney and Disney plus have oversaturated the superhero industry. It takes the anticipation away of waiting for that movie to come out. Its a dime a dozen.

    • @JernosComicsPopCulture
      @JernosComicsPopCulture  10 месяцев назад +2

      I pretty much agree. And it's not that we can't get excited about marvel characters showing up in the mcu still, but you're right. It's so much, so fast, and doesn't have the same type of resonating response anymore.

    • @lerak8452

      @JernosComicsPopCulture you know as a content creator, working a job, and as a father. There is only so much time you have to spend on shows. Between Disney Plus and movies. Plus, other networks and shows. There's not enough hours in a day to see all of it. It's a lot to juggle time wise.

    The idea that movie spec is bringing comic values down is wrong in my opinion. It's negativity from people angry that they aren't getting what they believe should make their books more valuable. Its toxicity plain and simple. Captain Marvel is a perfect example. People hate Brie Larson, they hate movies that they hear word of her being in before they come out and Carol Danvers first appearance has taken a dip. All because some people were told an uncomfortable truth they they didn't like hearing.

    • @JernosComicsPopCulture
      @JernosComicsPopCulture  9 месяцев назад

      I agree. Movie spec isn't 'bringing values down.'' It's just the same formula of the bell-shaped curve of short-term FOMO hype, followed by the big drop.

      I don't necessarily disagree with amything you've said here. But would add that Ms. Marvel was always a second tier character in the first place, and I don't think that really changes just because of an MCU appearance.

      To your point, the modern grails'that most 'bro culture' collectors are championing are books like New Mutants 98 and Hulk 181 that feature the first appearances of the most aggressive, violent, cigar chomping (but beloved) male characters. I'm really interested to see if the industry will accomodate the continuing rise of X-Men 130 (first Dazzler). When this book started trending up, I saw it as an attempt to try to elevate a book with a female lead (And a 30 cent cover) to an 'important book' status. Due to Taylor Swift's potential involvement it feels like people are grudgingly going along with the trend- but will it crash if Swift is replaced by Lady Gaga or Olivia Rodrigo in the movie? Probably.
