Reminds me of old Interpol. I dig it heavily.
I get that these guys try to innovate. But yeah, they really had something unique and incredible with the first two albums. Nobody would hold it against them if they threw a 'Snow Patrol' and made another album exactly like that once more. Songs don't always have to be unique and redefine the way we think about music. Sometimes these songs just gets to be these broody visceral guitarscapes without gimmicks.
Honestly, I don't think this sounds anything like old Interpol. I just think it was innovation that heavily paid off.

@@ElectricBloom7 That's correct - this is Paul playing bass. It's worth noting that the tracks on this EP were all recorded during the Marauder sessions - and Paul is the only credited bass player during the sessions.
It's pretty clear that this was mixed later however.
Short, sweet, punchy, raw, and surprisingly complex. I won't be able to get this song out of my head for a while - I'm down with that.
Finally a track where the bass is prominent and interesting just like the good old days.
Picopunk3 marauder had plenty of bass. Its just the production of the album muddled everything
@@ciello___8307 I agree, for some reason my truck with stock everything has the best sound of any place I've ever heard (but I listen to a lot of music on cheap headphones) and I wasn't able to hear the bass in most of Marauder until listening to it there. Stay in Touch and NYSMAW probably benefited the most from listening to it there, but the whole album was really good, production issues aside.

Interpol, Interpol, Interpol is never disappointing. I have never consistently enjoyed listening to a band more than them. I've been listening since 2002 when they where on Need for Speed. Of course, I do miss Dangler. Who doesn't?
Its 1am a d I'm going over any interpol songs I missed, and this one.. slapped me in the face. Now I have to change my wedding song
I’m still mixed on Marauder to this day, but at least they came back out guns blazing with this song and proved that they still have it in them to write a fantastic song this deep into their career. More dark and weird noise please.

A gift that keeps on giving
Dirty instruments but still clearly distinguishable. This is how Interpol should sound like. It would already be one of the best songs on Marauder.
Marauder Sounds very dirty
I would argue the instrumentation is dirty on that album but the production doesn't handle it very well, it all blends together and the songs fly past because it doesn't feel very differential. I think that would have been one of the stronger sings production wise

@@aaronneumann7750 The BBC live session of 'If You Really Love Nothing' already sounds better than the studio version. The production clearly was a failed experiment, I hope they bring out another version of the album sooner than 5 years. They don't have to call it a remaster if they don't want to admit the error.

I sometimes wish they stopped putting all types of processing effects over Paul's voice and bring it back to its core
To be honest, the effect in the verse is no different from the one they used on "Roland" many years ago. It works because Paul is belting out the vocals like he used to do.
Captain Crunch it has a nice ring. I miss my speakers and eq. Very stimulating instead of distorted.
He's never going to have the sound he had during TOTBL when he was an inexperienced vocalist singing predominantly in the baritone range. About the time OLTA was written he began really honing his voice and it shifted his comfortable range up to what we have now. The untrained sound is the charm in TOTBL which is why it's unobtainable anymore.
