Imagine how Rey being a Kenobi would shift the way we view the Star Wars saga. We've always said it's about the Skywalker bloodline, but considering how the prequels are essentially about Anakin and Obi-Wan shoulder-to-shoulder, it would be dope if suddenly the original trilogy and sequel trilogy are films about their offspring respectively.
Just the way I would like to see it happen: Prequels: Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker Originals: Boba Fett and Han Solo (sons-in-law) Sequels: Rey [Fett] and Ben Solo (grandchildren)
Andreas Nordvall I hate to burst you bubble but Kathleen Kennedy has said in multiple interviews since taking over LucasFilm that the Saga movies are about the Skywalker family
I 100% agree with what Jeremy said earlier that if they play an Episode 8 trailer before Rogue One, the trailer could potentially overshadow the entire movie. I hope that won't happen, but I totally could see it happening.
I don't see that happening because of what Chris said. Its stupid that i never thought about it, but we dont have a title for Episode 8 yet. So how are they gonna release a trailer without the title? They can't and won't. So lets just wait for the title before getting our hopes up for a trailer. Do i want to see a trailer? I would LOVE to, but they don't need to either. I'm thinking we are getting the first trailer at Celebration. At least i hope so, and i hope that they are not doing the same thing they did this year with Rogue One and only show it to the people who are at Celebration.
Totally agree. Rogue One needs its time to shine on its own. It's a standalone for a reason, and it shouldn't be overshadowed by the release of next year's episodic film. I'd love it if we got a teaser foe Ep. VIII, but it makes far more sense to have one after Rogue One has had its own time to really resonate with the audience.
This is the best show ever!!! You guys are therapy for me. When I need to relax and unwind you guys give an amazing scapegoat to enter into an exciting world. Thanks Collider!!! ❤️❤️❤️🙌
You can still explore the universe and lore with one standalone film at a time. They all don't need sequels. Maybe they can sign actors for multiple movies, but those characters can show up in other standalone films, to make them feel more connected.
I quite liked it. I love the bit with K2-SO at the end. The clip also briefly showcased the score, which i was a bit worried about at first, since John Williams had nothing to do with it. But luckily it ended up sounding like his work, and it fit the tone of the scene pretty well.
Well darn, i tried giving it a twist. But that JJ Abrams is a sneaky guy. He also said it wasn't Khan in Star Trek. That's why I like Star Wars, it's like putting a puzzle together. Granted is going to take a while to get all the pieces. Can't wait till Episode 8.
I love what Ken said and completely agree, the prequels are pretty bad films and can only be defended to a point but the prequel era itself is awesome, it added a lot to Star Wars as a whole and they shouldn't shy away from it in future films, I really hope we see Coruscant in Rogue One or Episode VIII.
I think bringing Ewan McGregor back in the new trilogies is a smart move because it brings a real sense of continuity between all of the movies with the actors they casted.... Look at Rogue ONE, Jimmy Smits is reprising his role as Bale Organa, so why can't Ewan be a force ghost in either Ep. 8 or 9?
Because there would be no continuity story wise. Take Hayden Christensen being dropped in Return of the Jedi. It made no sense as it completely undermined the story of the movie about Vader's redemption and still having good in him. So having McGregor reprise his role in the sequel trilogy would be ridiculous. Suddenly a Force Ghost (Guinness to McGregor) getting younger for no apparent reason is easy enough for a passive fan to realise it's stupid.
DJ Mitz They're fucking ghosts. They can change their appearance if the story calls for it. What you said makes no sense. You tried to make it sound stupid, yet you give no reasons why it make no continuity.
I want something like KOTOR!!! Best star wars games ever! I want to be able to do what I want and can be either Sith or Jedi... I would even love if they remastered the first 2 for Xbox 1
Bring back the supersize, hour and a half episodes of Jedi Council to get us through the Rogue One wait/feed our hype levels (really I guess next week is the last pre-Rogue One ep!)!
My guess is a training montage with force ghosts of Anakin (Hayden), Obi-Wan (Ewan), Yoda, Qui-Gon(Liam) and Mace(Jackson) and Luke training Rey. Each of them train her in a specific aspect.
I feel like coming out with a movie every year is not good because it takes the excitement you feel when you get to watch the movie you waited 2-3 years for, every year will be an overload and casual fans or movie goers will get burnt out on them. It also might become a thing when the studio start getting in the mentality of "quantity over quality".... but Chris Stuckmann is GREAT.
Ken should be on the very episode moving forward. This show (as wonderful as it is) has been in *DIRE* need of someone else besides Kristian who enjoys the prequel trilogy and will talk about them with respect, appreciation, and legitimacy the way they deserve. I just happen to think that's very important for a Star Wars-centric show. In fact it's borderline mandatory. But still great episode as always lady and gents.
For a while I've been subscribing to the idea that episode 8 will come out in May in order to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the OG coming out. 8 is way farther ahead than Force Awakens was at this time (John Williams is beginning the score this month, didn't start until Sept '15 for FA), and I can't see Lucasfilm passing up on this opportunity. If there is even a two second teaser that just shows the name of episode 8 before Rogue One, I think it is confirmed. IF there is nothing for 8 before Rogue One, I will finally agree that it's coming out in December.
I hope they have a scene where Bail Organa says that he's quitting the rebellion to go and have a nice, peaceful retirement on Alderaan. What could possibly go wrong? :)
I all ready feel like a Star Wars movie annually is going to make them seem less special. Two a year would absolutely multiply that feeling for me. It's happened with Marvel, I really don't want it to happen with Star Wars. I will always be thrilled for the saga movies, but the enthusiasm will eventually be tempered with SW overload. The Story movies will begin to feel like a dime a dozen.
GrndMstrGravity YES. All these spin-offs and Han Solo prequels are making Star Wars less special. I would like one every 2-3 years so each one feels like more of an event instead of another day at the movies.
Like ive said before i believe episode 8 trailer will come after rogue one blu ray comes out. Just like rogue one trailer came out right after the force awakens blu ray release
We received the 1st FORCE AWAKENS teaser In January of 2015, so it's possible that we may get a teaser during Rogue One. Just to note, that was so hard to get that teaser and then have to wait an entire year to see Ep.7
2 films a year and 2 Netflix series a year.,Im 40 and I dont wanna wait anymore. KOTOR,Darth Bane,Knights of Ren,Kenobi,Han Solo,Stand alone Yoda or Luke.A Darth Vader movie that has him kicking ass.A Clone Wars film.
Star Wars Underground your absolutely correct. I wouldn't go as far as saying "strongest ssincce episode 6" but overall the clone wars is a great show and totally made up for the crapfest film.
I don't mind if there is some sort of reference to Obiwan but they can't message Leia's message specifically. We saw the very end of her making that recording and we know that it was recorded after A New Hope Began and Vader had boarded their ship. The message was likely an audible that she came up with in that moment. Plan A was likely to get the plans back to the rebel base.
In the book catalyst, a giant Kyber crystal was went through a nuclear explosion and the scientists involved in the project were not even remotely concerned that it had been damaged in the incident. The kyber crystal is portrayed in the novel as pretty much indestructible. It isn't unreasonable to assume one survived the death-star explosion.
I do miss Moff Nemiroff. She has energy to share. Mark is funny at times. I think he's like me when it comes to star wars... kinda loose yourself when you get in deep discussion. I wish them 'howdy' and a speedy return. Chris Stuckmann seems knowledgeable. I have never seen him before except maybe once on a movie review. Tiffany needs to pull the mic away from her face. She's like Perri, a rare bread. Pretty and smart. Get that mic adjusted for next time!
Actually, You very much can destroy a Kyber even the boulder-sized, which creates an explosion similar to that of Death Star I. It was shown in 7th season of Clone Wars (that not fully rendered one).
Ray is Palpatine's granddaughter, their is nothing saying a sith couldn't have attachments, I think he had a mistress back on Naboo and they had a son or daughter then had Ray, and when Luke discovered who she was he hid her as he knew he couldn't let someone like Snoke get his hands on her after what happened to Ben Solo.
After the main Trilogy is done (7,8 & 9) Disney feels they won't have as much pulling power, that's why they are doing a film like Rogue One bang in the middle of this new trilogy. Films like Obi-Wan and Fett will have strong pulling power once the trilogy is up, this is why they won't do an Obi-Wan film so soon.... He is an Ace in the pack and you don't play all your aces in a row as the films will only go down hill after that, it's a simple business plan... forget about fandom and look at it from a business point of view and you can kind of make out what film will come out when
it would be cool if Luke still consulted with Yoda and Obi as force ghosts. It would make sense that he may do this for major situations such as the entire events of ep7.
If I could have anything canon again it would be Exar Kun, Ulic Qel-Droma and The Sith War. They were sweet characters in a cool big Jedi vs Sith war that happened so long ago in the past that it does nothing to hurt the new stuff. I feel this would be just as easy as saying hey this is legit again......but that's not how you milk something for cash so :(
Am I the only one who hates the idea of Rey being a Kenobi? It sounds too much like fanfiction. Having another evil Sith Skywalker vs good Jedi Kenobi not only becomes redundant at this point, it also reinforces the idea that that the Kenobi line is obviously better and makes you wonder why the heck this is the Skywalker saga and not the Kenobi saga.
The idea that Obi-Wan "the Jedi do not form attachments" Kenobi would fall in love with someone deeply enough to have said child seems so completely out of character for him. Not to mention it would also need a hell of a lot of narrative exposition to explain everything. Same goes for the Palpatine and reincarnated Anakin Skywalker theories. (which I don't believe at all).
Awesome episode guys, as always! I gotta tell ya though...personally, I'm fully behind the theory that Rey is related to Obi-Wan. Certainly not his daughter, due to the huge age difference. But grandaughter, possibly? Just factor in Obi-Wan's relationship with Satine. Lets say she had a daughter by Obi-Wan, but decided to keep her hidden from everyone (including Obi-Wan), because of the bounty put out by the Empire on all remaining Jedi. So...lets say she places her daughter in the care of one of her loyal supporters, to be raised as a member of that clan. And, for arguments sake, lets call that Daughter...Sabine (like Satine, but different) of Clan...I don't know...Visla maybe? So Satine Wren goes on to meet a powerful, up and coming Jedi...lets call him...Ezra Bridger. And they eventually fall in love & have a daughter. Lets call her...hmmm...Rey? And so, somewhere along their adventures, something happens to Ezra & he turns to the Dark Side. So Sabine hides Rey on Jakku for protection. What do you think? Its totally possible. And considering Daisy Riddley said in a recent interview that she thought her parentage was totally revealed in The Force Awakens, meaning it was probably a few things mentioned that were overlooked by everyone...tiny clues...such as Obi-Wan's voice during her 'vision'...? And consider that final scene...with Rey handing Luke's father's lightsaber to him. Once again, a 'Kenobi' hands Luke his father's lightsaber. Now THAT'S symmetry!
Getting tired of the Rey Kenobi theory. How do you explain that a man who's been dead for 30+ years - who is now a ghost - had a child WHO THEN had another child, within 5-10 minutes? Not to mention, why the Mustafar would he have another kid or fall in love again after Sateen died, and after his bestfriend and pupil turned to the dark side and killed his wife with pretty much the same turn of events, AND go against the Jedi Code? Ugh
Just a quick question and I know it's come up before and I have a theory that might solve this unless it's been touched on already but exactly when did the empire begin construction on the second Death Star from return of the Jedi? but perhaps their was a grander scale to the plan what if the empire had plans not to just build one but a whole fleet or system of you will of Death Stars and they were already in the middle of construction of the second Death Star and the reason that is cause I think it's evident that the Death Star will have some sort of sub test of its destructive power in rogue one and based on tests like those continue constructing more of these killer space station. And like Star destroyers and super Star destroyers we have Death Stars and star killer bases and that's what we saw in the force awakens so what if this was the plan of the empire and the first order was just continuing the plan? To have a system of Death Stars placed in key spots all through out the galaxy and Star Killer bases and the center in just a few spots? To have complete control through out the universe other wise be destroyed?......just saying lol
Doesn't Obi Wan's choice of words in Episode VII, "these are your first steps" sound like something a parent or a grandparent would say? I know it's obviously huge reaching and massive speculation. But it's a very parental phrasing.
tito22212 Kenobi defeated Darth Vader by dismembering three of his limbs and could have killed him if he wanted. Kenobi was a legendary Jedi. He's plenty powerful to be Rey's family patriarch.
tito22212 Rey fought a guy who we know did not complete his training, had a gaping gut wound and emotionally exhausted. Ren was nowhere near the level of Dooku and neither is Rey. Her "power/strenght" is pretty much on the charts.
I know it wont be as big as The Force Awakens, but around where I am in Oregon the hype for Rogue One seems to be bigger. it was just my brother and I that went to opening night for Ep 7 and now there are plans for 13 of us to go to opening night in our little theater with more people i hear that are doing the same. People are talking about it every day. Ep 7 seemed to prime everyone.
I really hope the Kenobi story ends up to be true. I want more of Ewan McGregor as Kenobi, especially when he's actually in a great Star Wars film. And him being possibly in Ep 8 or 9 would be amazing. Also i still think there is a chance Rey is related to Luke but i think there is a bigger chance she's related to Obi Wan. They where obviously hinting at a connection between them in Force Awakens so if she's not related i'm very curious why Obi Wan was in her vision.
I love what Chris said about The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 premiere and how it was boring to watch and the film itself to be quite honest wasn't that good or that fun to discuss, because I myself enjoyed The Hunger Games films, and I felt the same way. But for Star Wars, I can't wait to watch the premiere, I'm a die hard Star Wars fan and I totally agree with what Chris had to say about the premiere comparisons.👍
They forgot to mention the problem with an Episode VIII promotion in Q1. Rogue One stuff delayed for Rogue Nation; why would VIII stuff NOT be delayed (other than a short teaser) due to FF8, which comes out April 14th? Perfect time to drop the first real trailer is Celebration, which is the same weekend :/
Vader shows up, uses the force or lightsaber. Bail Organa sees or heres of it. Thinks ok well nobody knows where Yoda is. Gives plans to Leia to go to Tatooine to get Obi-Wan. I think this would add so much more depth to Episode 4. Hope to see it.
I love Jeremy and Chris when they talk movies with you guys but I haven't really enjoyed either of them on Jedi council with the exception of mark id like it if you guys only had people on that keep up with new canon expanded universe stuff like the books and comics. It'd also be awesome if you guys did separate videos on the book reviews! Thanks!
I wish we would have gotten something other than a Han Solo movie. the margin for error with that character is so small. I feel if they went with Obiwan first I'd feel a lot less nervous because Obi wan has been here since the late 90s
Has anyone ever broached the possibility that Rey is a clone or in this case part clone of perhaps Luke or Obi Wan Kenobi? Would explain a lot of how she knows so much not just of the force but also how to fly the Millennium Falcon?
Dream panel for Jedi Council:
Kristian Harloff, Andi Gutierrez, Jay Bauman and Mike Stoklasa.
half in the baaaaag... "where am i?"
Mike Stoklasa, Jay Buaman, George Lucas, and Rich Evans as George Lucas would be fascinating.
Just go full RLM. Bring Mike, Jay and Rich in
Andreas Nordvall for me I would switch Jay or Mike for Kevin Smith
+GodOfPopTarts is jedi council replacing half in the bag
Chris Stuckmann on Jedi Council!! YES! YES! YES!
Imagine how Rey being a Kenobi would shift the way we view the Star Wars saga. i hope she is Luke's daughter AND Obi-Wan's grandaughter that way she has SkyWalker and Kenobi blood
Just the way I would like to see it happen:
Prequels: Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker
Originals: Boba Fett and Han Solo (sons-in-law)
Sequels: Rey [Fett] and Ben Solo (grandchildren)
But a Kenobi DID beat not only Vader BUT A Skywalker...
Andreas Nordvall I hate to burst you bubble but Kathleen Kennedy has said in multiple interviews since taking over LucasFilm that the Saga movies are about the Skywalker family
Cdckgb AND a Darth Maul, when he was still a Padawan.
I 100% agree with what Jeremy said earlier that if they play an Episode 8 trailer before Rogue One, the trailer could potentially overshadow the entire movie. I hope that won't happen, but I totally could see it happening.
I think you're right, right now we only need a title(something that i want to know since i saw The Force Awakens for the first time)

After credits surprise!

Witty Profile Name, Wanna trade profile names?
This is the best show ever!!! You guys are therapy for me. When I need to relax and unwind you guys give an amazing scapegoat to enter into an exciting world. Thanks Collider!!! ❤️❤️❤️🙌
Great DBZ reference by Stuckmann at 46:18
Stuckmann is the man. Dash Star was great when he was on the show too.
I'm so happy that Ken is on Jedi Council and Movie Talk. He provides such great humor and interesting opinions during the discussions. Love this team!
Jedi Council with Chris Stuckmann. Hell to the yes.
You can still explore the universe and lore with one standalone film at a time. They all don't need sequels. Maybe they can sign actors for multiple movies, but those characters can show up in other standalone films, to make them feel more connected.
Stuckmann was a great addition to this council meeting. Great chemistry
for future episode Senator stuckmann seems a good fit
It would be awesome if Chris Stuckmann joined Collider full time one day. Don't know if he wants to move out west though. Great Jedi Council episode!
I want an Obi-Wan stand alone movie!
TrestanSKYWALKR get in line dude :(
Multiple Stars Wars movies a year is a bad idea.
TJ Hastie *very* very very bad idea
Very very very very bad idea

***** Wrong again
Did you guys see the exclusive Rogue One clip on Fallon last night? If so, thoughts?
The stormtroopers are useless.
it's almost that same scene with rey beating up those guys and finn watching
I quite liked it. I love the bit with K2-SO at the end. The clip also briefly showcased the score, which i was a bit worried about at first, since John Williams had nothing to do with it. But luckily it ended up sounding like his work, and it fit the tone of the scene pretty well.
stuckmann! thanks for coming on the show. you're great
i was hoping for a proper title for Chris Stuckmann on his council debut. I wish they had went with General Stux
could Rey vision from the light saber be a fash back (cloud city) and a flash forward (knights of Ren) at the same time.
Travis Ware Possible.
Travis Ware JJ Abrams confirmed the knights of ren vision was a past memory not a future
Great episode everyone. A thrill to see Chris Stuckmann on the show and always great to have the Smith Lord on.
Another awesome episode of Collider's best show and wonderful to have Tiffany back!
I love what Ken said and completely agree, the prequels are pretty bad films and can only be defended to a point but the prequel era itself is awesome, it added a lot to Star Wars as a whole and they shouldn't shy away from it in future films, I really hope we see Coruscant in Rogue One or Episode VIII.
surprised they didn't talk about Tarkin being confirmed for Rogue One
The 1080P is looking mighty fine. Keep up the great work!
8 or 9?

DJ Mitz They're fucking ghosts. They can change their appearance if the story calls for it. What you said makes no sense. You tried to make it sound stupid, yet you give no reasons why it make no continuity.
nice, I'm going to watch this epidsode five times, stuckmann ftw!!!
great insight and informative responses from chris stuckmann
Chris Stuckmann was awesome! I could listen to him talk all day. haha. Very articulate.
I want something like KOTOR!!! Best star wars games ever! I want to be able to do what I want and can be either Sith or Jedi... I would even love if they remastered the first 2 for Xbox 1
Been subscribed to Stuckmann for a while now, awesome to see him on the Council.

Star Wars Underground we already got a clone wars film in 2008 and it sucked lol
That was a cash grab introduction to the best Starwars material since Episode 6.The Series made up for it IMO
Best i´v heard today. The more Star Wars, the better!

I feel this would be just as easy as saying hey this is legit again......but that's not how you milk something for cash so :(
Hi Jedi Council crew!
I'm totally with Chris on SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE. The novel, the game, the toys, I love them all and wish they were canon.
For those of you who are still confused about where Rogue One falls in the timeline... Here's a bouncy red ball. You two have fun.
Am I the only one who hates the idea of Rey being a Kenobi? It sounds too much like fanfiction. Having another evil Sith Skywalker vs good Jedi Kenobi not only becomes redundant at this point, it also reinforces the idea that that the Kenobi line is obviously better and makes you wonder why the heck this is the Skywalker saga and not the Kenobi saga.
velvetmagritte I think it would be best if Rey weren't either kenobi or skywalker
Pls have either "The suspends wave, or star wars theory" on the show. My favorite Star Wars youtubers!.
Ugh
Julian Whiteway IF she is a Kenobi, she's his granddaughter, not his daughter.
Daddy Crowell That's what he said.... Anyway I agree with him. it's a ridiculous theory and unnecessary too.
Julian Whiteway "what the Mustafar.." well played Sir, well played indeed. Also, 100% agree with your comment!
clariola My bad. I misread part of it apparently. Up too early before work. Lol.
Am I crazy or was this video extra crisp? New cameras? Looks good!
Thx Chris for bringing up Frieza!
Corusant is in Return of the Jedi during the celebration at the end when they tear down the statue of the Emporer.
Ken Napzok lifts and enhances every cast he's on. I was skeptical with his pony tail, but have been converted.
Wow. I have impeccable timing.
Doesn't Obi Wan's choice of words in Episode VII, "these are your first steps" sound like something a parent or a grandparent would say? I know it's obviously huge reaching and massive speculation. But it's a very parental phrasing.
She seems too strong to be a Kenobi.
tito22212 Kenobi defeated Darth Vader by dismembering three of his limbs and could have killed him if he wanted. Kenobi was a legendary Jedi. He's plenty powerful to be Rey's family patriarch.
He fought Dooku three times in canon, was always completely outmatched. He is strong but Rey is off the charts.
Rey isn't off the charts. She was stuck in a position where she had to be better because she in the climax of a Star Wars movie
tito22212 Rey fought a guy who we know did not complete his training, had a gaping gut wound and emotionally exhausted. Ren was nowhere near the level of Dooku and neither is Rey. Her "power/strenght" is pretty much on the charts.
I've grown to have the same sort of appreciation for the prequels as Ken just iterated.
Fucking love that Jahns and Stuckman are getting involved with collider etc
Rey as Palpatine's granddaughter would be the absolute best way to go. That, and Snoke being Plagueis. The story writes itself from there.
Rogue One in two weeks!
Just letting you know the Twitter address for Tiffany is wrong in the description
Insane it's already been a year since Force Awakens
CHRIS!!!!!
Who-hooo!!! Love the guy and his channel!
Julian Whiteway yeah but rogue nation and rogue one had a similar word fast 8 and episode 8 are distinctive enough for people to know the difference
Why is Vader holding that action figure? Hahaha. That little guy's supposed to sit down at the front. 😂
Thanks!
If the kyber crystal from the first Death Star got destroyed, what did they use for the 2nd one in RotJ? A second giant Kyber?
Nick Webb probably
I'm with Tiff; the cyber could've survived the DS explosion, reclaimed for DS2 but we'll never know this ...maybe in a novel?
I wish we would have gotten something other than a Han Solo movie. the margin for error with that character is so small. I feel if they went with Obiwan first I'd feel a lot less nervous because Obi wan has been here since the late 90s
99% sure there isn't going to be but I am SOOOO excited for Rogue One and Star Wars 8. I'll need my tissues for when I watch the trailer :).
Biggest December opening weekend: Force awakens - $247.97m and before was The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey $85m.
Tiff is back!
I appreciate the Mr. Perfect reference. Awesome!
Has anyone ever broached the possibility that Rey is a clone or in this case part clone of perhaps Luke or Obi Wan Kenobi? Would explain a lot of how she knows so much not just of the force but also how to fly the Millennium Falcon?
Stuckmannizer isn't rlly a Star Wars name. Anyone got a Star Wars name for Stuckmann?
lol i just commented abt this General Stux!
tom devinney Stuckmann Solo.
Talon Diwisch jeremy jahns already took Han Solo so Chris wouldn't get to use it.
CalCHRISian seems good though!
Chris-2-D-2? Or some conglomeration with Chewbacca, like maybe Chris-bacca, cuz he's really tall:) Or Qui-gon-chris...
THE BAR: Brawls, Attractions & Reviews now that's a good one! 👌🏻
I love trees too, Chris!
