    Don't forget to cut out a small wedge at the corners of the belts before lacing to prevent the edge of the belt from hanging up.

    With clipper can u use a steel rod as a splice?

      I have used galvanized wire. You could use a small rod. Probably even a piece of welding rod. But make sure to get a good bend on the ends to retain it. I think the coated splice wires set when they are pressured and don't come out nearly as easily

      As a temporary emergency lacing pin, I have used 1/8" high tensile wire and vinyl coated coat hanger wire in order to beat a rain storm with hay already down. But I would never leave these in permanently. The cost of a baler eating a belt is hundreds of dollars and just not worth taking the chance.
