I feel like everyone used to play recorder in primary school, and this has created lots of negative thoughts around the recorder. More people should open their minds, and see that the recorder can be played beautifully when played correctly. Wonderful playing, sounds superb!

At one time, the recorder was considered a serious and respected instrument.
I tried to learn how to play when I learned the above, but by then my arthritis made it too difficult. So I'm trying to learn to play the ocarina. A good ocarina can produce beautiful sounds, as well.

@@letsschubertiad1966 …don’t be daft lol 😂…it’s obviously corrected…I’ve been playing the recorder for 35 years so I know when the instrument has been put through a computer app! Lol

@@letsschubertiad1966 …then enjoy…but for anyone starting out on the recorder thinking that they will never play like that…the answer is you can if you get the app! Or play in a very big building with echo lol 😂…listen to some of our best professional players then listen to this again, you will hear the difference…
I've been practicing on alto and soprano mostly, but this inspired me to get a tenor as well. So lovely.
I was on the fence about trying a tenor and this video single-handedly convinced me within the first three seconds.

Ive just bought my first tenor, it has arrived today and I am amazed how beautifully it sounds. I have always played just soprano recorder. My fingers are still screaming for help😀, but the sound is awesome

Love this Song, Played on the Aulos A511B Tenor. Well Done!!. Love that Tenor, it is my Favorite out of the three i have. Well, let me re-phrase that, Each one of my Tenor's is my favorite one while iam play them. Love this Style of Music for the Tenor recorder, and all Renaissance and Baroque style music, and Modern interpretations of those era's.

I have ordered aYamaha 304B as it was available and as good as the Aulos. ( Now I am in for it).

I like recorders as they are not as loud as flutes that sometimes sends me deaf.
Also easier to blow and does not annoy the neighbours....

Beautiful! Seems so easy to play, but the finger gymnastics is very hard, and I get cramps easily. The holes are so far appart !! 😓

Have you tried twisting your wrist a little and so bending the fingers? This might help reaching the holes 👍

Thanks for your tips. I've tried a few different mouvements, yes. But, I'll keep trying! The problem is cramps in my wrists and some fingers. Did you have to practice a lot, meaning lots of hours/days before finding the right angles and so ?
I had kind of the same problem with the guitar. It wasn't the distances, but I had bad cramping and complete blocages, especially with the string hand, which usually is the left hand (for right handed people). One day, I decided to switch the strings over!! Because I just got fed up by being so stuck. And guess what, it worked!! Yay! No more cramps, and blocages. It came from the brain hemispheres!
Mentally, I'm left-handed, alas have been forced to be right-handed. But I do a lot of things with my left hand, appart from the forced writing. But, I can also write with my left hand, which I never trained, it's natural although less fluid because no practice. But, I don't think there are left-handed flutes around! 🤭
