As you know professor, when you create an exam "this is where you add the tricks to make students fail". Whether giving distances in a slope method, missing angles, flipping around xyz coordinate system, but maintaining rt hand rule...i.e. point x axis up, casually describing vectors direction as vertical, horizontal or coincident,..etc. Also, add a 6th topic: Linear algebra basics. Why isn't this course offered anywhere except in upperclass mathetmatics? It's "touched upon" very lightly in Algebra 2(9th grade algebra...with determinants and Kraemer's law). However, it pops up in this highly dense/fast paced engineering course vector statics. Vector statics is 25% physics(FBD setup and sum force=0) and 75% linear algebra, trigonometry, algebra and arithmetic. Linear algebra basics taught by itself is very easy to master(maybe that's why it's not offered like this). In fact, you can apply dot product, cross product to vectors without any reference to "forces". It can be applied to pure line vectors(position vector, distance vectors, unit vectors). Having exposure to vector manipulation in just pure mathematical environment would incredibly "over-prepare" the engineering students, so he/she can get homework done quickly, ace exams and attend more social functions.

i think you might have made an error, Fc should be positive since W is negative (per sign convention). you rearranged the moment equation, which leaves Fc = -W. W = -931.6. inserting that would give Fc = -(-W). this is just per my understanding, i'm super prepared to be wrong, if so could you explain how the force would be negative if it completely follows your sign convention.
I think an issue here is that if C were really on rollers I don’t think this would remain static. Neglecting the weight of the roller mechanism, the whole system would rotate about B, wouldn’t it? I could be wrong. I have been out of school five years and just getting back into this to study for the PE exam.
I highly recommend getting an Hp50g. This is my 9th or 10th time reviewing statics, again for my PE exam(one day I will take it). I can solve statics problems virtually paperless. (unless a coordinate point is "not given" then I have to write out the stupid dot product or cross product arithmetic). The FBD, geometry, and xyz coordinate system and points location is the most critical for problem set-up. Then it's just defining direction vectors, moment arm vector, and the appropriate dot or cross product depending if you need(summation of forces and moments, perpendicular distance between vectors, projections of vector on an axis, or angle between vectors. More than 50% of the mistakes will be made during the "tedious" arithmetic, algebra and simultaneous equation matrix solving longhand. Not to mention fatigue from paper, pencil or pen(my preference). A vector like 2i + 3j -5k can be entered in the calculator and manipulated as a single entry as < 2,3,-5 >. In addition, to the actual x y z coordinate of a point like (2, 3, 0) and infinite more points stored, manipulated and solved (like 3 equations and 3 unknowns).

I just bombed a statics exam because my calculator was set to radians from my math class before the exam and I forgot to change it back to degrees :(
