  • This video is for opening a 2013 Bmw 535xi transfer case. These things are so bad! Mine started producing a radiating noise at ~60k miles. I never opened one of these and couldn’t find a clear video so figured others would benefit from this.

The Big cylinder next to that bearing is clutch pack. Replaced that along with all the bearings and off you go . There is some clearance to oay attention to .

Nice video. Can you tell how to get the front output shaft flange off? I have a transfer case that I want to install all new seals in prior to installing in car.

Did you replace all bearings and you put back this transfer case into the car ? This was the issue and solved your problem?

Question(My 2007 x3): My transfer case was changed to a used one and it removed the ABS/Brake/4x4 lights from being on. Now I hear a scratching sound from the back that was NEVER present before. Do you have a professional opinion what could be happening or what could be checked?

Try and do a slow tight turn in an empty lot if it bucks or makes the scratching worse then you have the same problem I have. Im looking for a new transfer case now and it wasnt the TC actuator for me either.

Hi Vishad, great vid. Quick question, I own a 2003 325 xi (75k mi) and it broke on me last week. I has no traction, shifter will move and noise can be heard as it shifts between P N and D, but no movement is transmitted to the wheels. Even worse, while in P, the car wheels move freely as if the car was in N. R or D the car would not move. Is there any way of knowing if the issue is the transfer case or the tranny? Thank you.

Its your mechatronic in your gearbox.Set of valves and gaskets . Google valve body zf6hp . I assume you have 6 gear zf box. Quite cheap to repair.

I guess I just save my money and get it done at BMW for 4k at least it comes with a warranty because just changing the transfer case actuator will be a waste of time
