Bmw N55 valve cover repair 👨‍🔧 Save ~$2k
Просмотров 138Год назад
save ~$2000 with this trick Hey y’all. Yup it happens to me too! While I was removing the valve cover on my 2013 535xi I mistakenly hit the VC valve (I think that’s what it’s called) against the spring and broke it off. Hint when pulling the cover off point and pull it in the direction of the driver side and not the passenger side! Anyways found a way to save ~$600( parts ) and ~$2000 for total...

    You’re a lifesaver because I’ve literally been working on my truck for three hours and the last thing I want is to have to take apart the brake line when I can easily press in the brake caliper piston. Cool trick.

    Wasn't very tight, needs to be square or could damage the seal.Mostly stuck with rust and can be extremely tight.A method I have when aclamp will not dislodge the piston is to insert solid material A little less in thickness than the pads or the pads and the disc and gently push the foot break,the hydraulic action will work,once released a little the rust breaks and with a little perseverance the piston will go back.This is only a temporary fix,must be dismantled and cleaned up and repaired.Has worked for me.Charlie Aus

  • @julesviolin
    @julesviolin Год назад

    I consider that a bad tip ! If the piston is that stiff that you can't press it in by hand then it needs a refurb. You'll notice how easy a new caliper is by comparison. A stiff piston is going to give you a binding brake sooner or later. The atmosphere side of the cylinder wall will have a corrosion ring which simply needs to be sanded off. Add fresh silicone grease, all will be good as new again.

    I can almost feel and hear my knuckles cracking as I think of attempting that. I'll stick with the inclined plane on my c-clamps but if someone steals them, I'll caulk my calipers into submission. 😂

    Great idea the only thing is open the bleeder on the caliper that way your not pushing any bad fluid in to the master cylinder. Also the caliper will go back in easier.
