THE MAN WITH A MEGAPHONE: Danny Shine the Anti-Natalist and public disrupter in London City centre

- Danny Shine can be found in Central London , megaphone in hand, speaking whatever is on his mind. He can be spotted at Oxford Circus as workers make their way into the stairs leading down to the Underground, or like today, we find him in Trafalgar Square, next to his bicycle, reminding London tourists eating at a Christmas market, that they are eating dead animals and in his eyes and telling them they are murderers or asking what's the point of driving a sports car in the city when you end up stuck in traffic?
Some find his topics funny, some find them controversial and some are not afraid to shout back or question his views, with clear irritation in their eyes. He makes it up on the spot, responding to what he sees and the behaviours of people around him, dotting across the city, shopping in mega stores and fitting into the society that was made for us before we were born.
His current thought processes are about antinatalism, an idea that human reproduction in itself causes suffering for humans, that to bring someone into the world is itself the cause of personal suffering, to be born is in itself the cause of suffering. He says he questions his own thoughts and it is good to question where our thoughts come from.
Not everyone will agree with Danny and many will in fact adamantly disagree with him. I feel in many ways Danny wants to start debate in a city where many are on auto pilot, trying to keep their head a float in system pre made for us. As I filmed him, you could see many different reactions. Groups of people would laugh at him, some with him, someone called him an idiot and someone told him to shut the 'f'' up. Another young man felt he wanted to take him on and asked him lots of questions with a smile on his face, obviously sceptical of Danny's views.
Danny often will pick someone out from the crowd and will say they are eating the slaughtered remains of a body, or will say that they are attending a glorified corporate event.
Calling himself a 'disrupter of public spaces', Danny has had councils try to remove him and stop him standing in areas of footfall, shouting through a megaphone at the passers in a city that is becoming more and more polished. He says he spends around three to four days doing this and time flies. He has no need for entertainments, he makes his own entertainment.
I filmed Danny whilst I was out filming B Roll of the city. I had seen him over the last ten years I've spent in London, whilst I was cycling in town, or sitting on a bus. He has become part of the every day of the city, especially in the summer. London is a city full of preachers, with people walking with "Jesus saves" A boards attached to them and alike.
I asked Danny if I could interview him and without hesitation he put the mic on and spoke to me much more openly than I thought he would.
Whatever your views on Danny's topics, the right of freedom of speech is something that should be held tightly in the United Kingdom and the ability to take in views that we may not agree with is something that, as a documentary filmmaker, I value. The ability for many view points to live up against each other without too much drama is what makes a city.

Recently stumbled across this man outside of Kings Cross Station in London and spent about an hour listening to him and the people he interacted with. He got harassed, booed and ridiculed, but throughout it he was consistent and raised some great and very valid points if people actually listened to the core of what he was saying not necessarily the content.
Spent some time speaking my to him after he’d finished and was a top bloke 🙏
Above all, we should be asking ourselves why humans behave so stupidly on the planet and repeat this suicidal behaviour indefinitely. Why are they religious? Why is their system of reasoning, excellent for making tools, so defective for finding the right way to exist without constraining others? Why doesn't the freedom to impose existence work on their brains? Why don't they understand that the 'freedom to impose' is antithetical? Why haven't they understood that the constraint of existence implies the innocence of existence and the innocence of acts?

I'm no vegan, anti-natalist or even agree with some of what Danny Shine says, but he's articulate, brave, brilliant witty performer, what is there to dislike?
He does not say whatever in his mind. He executes whatever he knows.

So am i but unlike him i did not have Children .Would not push it though .Its up to the individual .In many 3 rd World Countries people need to have children to take care of themselves in old age .They do not have a social security or pension system.

@@sevena.channel You don't have a clue pet ,but try and put yourself in their situation of getting to be old and so no job and no money unless they have family to help out .Luckily i have a small state pension ,as being 70y year nobody will employ me .

I think he is absolutely ridiculous . He questions what we think bc it didn’t just some from our own mind. same for him. So what makes him think what he says should bare more weight. I am so happy he is NOT my parent. Destruction comes from people’s pride and self righteousness and their inability to be magnanimous. And those disgusting traits do NOT afflict all of mankind. Hence the good one can find if you truly seek.
