There is also the possibility that she could've meant skin tones by what undertone you have e.g. Warm, cool, neutral, as that will also change how the lipstick looks, but I'm not sure exactly which part you are referring to so I'm not saying that's definitely what she meant

Company's that claimed nudes looked good on anyone was upsetting bc when opening it would look dark enough for me but trying it on it would actually look really bad and if I had that issue I can only imagine someone with darker skin than me when it came to lipsticks.
