    I have one of these and I want to share some troubleshooting that u can face either:
    My copy started to make crackling sounds, just like those of dirty potentiometers. I cleaned the whole circuit and potentiometers with a proper contact cleaner for 3 TIMES and there was no way to fix it, the cracks was there like a vinyl disc simulator, broken cable vibes... not what I wanted. So I noticed that when the crackling triggers one of the LED lights was flickering as well. So I discovered in the most stupid way, the LEDs are REMOVABLE. Just pull the red square on top of the potentiometers. Pull them out with no need of any tool whatsoever. I just removed it and put it back and that was it... a dirty LED was causing me the whole trouble.
    I love to use EQ and I had to took it of my board because of this issue. Otherwise, these pedal make what is supposed to make and besides that, never had a trouble with it. My only complain about it is the energy port, this thing is tucked way too far and may not work with every force cable.

    I've got it. Great pedal. Even with a flat eq it adds clarity to the tone and gives you better note separation. Of course, essential for tone shaping, cutting undesirable frequencies. You can also use it as a booster.
    Eq pedals are the forgotten ones in pedalboards, but once you try one you realize how it can enhance your tone, and then it becomes an "always on" pedal.

    • @DerekPaulGuitar

      It depends whether you have the volume on the pedal set at unity (zero, in the middle) or whether you have it a pice that, also if you use extremes low end or high on the pedal that may cause a gain increase depending on where your volume is on the amp (it may be set to the edge of breakup which can cause more gain) maybe try a test where you play and switch the pedal on and off to see :) cheers

    Truth be told - every amp should have an installed equaliser to dial in your favourite tone, to make it sound just the way you want it.

    • @telsutton
      @telsutton 2 года назад +1

      Sorry, no. This is a pedal, and where you place it in the fx chain is all important for shaping what hits other pedals. Having more circuits in an amp just lessens the tone in my opinion. I had a Simms Watts GE100, and the addition of the EQ just made the heavy b*stard weigh more than physically acceptable to humanity. Also, I find a good parametric eq better for eq-ing out spiking frequencies (particularly from an unwound G).

    • @Phoenix_cataclysm_in_2040
      @Phoenix_cataclysm_in_2040 2 года назад

      @@telsutton
      Well, only a fairly small number of amps are carried around for gigs and what have you, the rest of them are forever stationary. The real downside of the EQ absence is that you can't dial in THAT sound, so amp manufacturers can charge silly money when they introduce another amp with preinstalled sound that you could create yourself by tweaking your amp EQ. I've seen both high end and inexpensive rigs with equalisers, so it can work, as still very few people use or even aware of EQ pedals.

      Electronics 101. You are right , what you are hearing is the 60 cycle input current, a battery is flat DC current. This guy probably doesn’t have noise because his pedal board buffers the signal and the power is distributed across all his pedal, eg he has a greater load. I imagined your power supply goes straight into the pedal. Conclusion you are not crazy and guitarists are hit or miss people who don’t understand science, they are the wrong people to ask.

    • @jimistheman9732
      @jimistheman9732 3 года назад +1

      An isolating power supply will cure that, but they are much more than the "cheap" type. Daisy chains are the culprit. If it doesn't make noise when it's the only device on the power supply, and it does when multiple device are, isolation is your issue. I'll try to post a couple links for you in a reply to this... not sure if they will come through. They explain a lot about it.

    This looks like the teriary level of fine tuning. I can see this for those times where you've spun the dials on the amp and whatever overdrives you have and still can't quite get that tone or the balance between treble and bass which always seems to be the frustrating over/under and you need something that operates in a finer gradient. For the money, it is certainly worth giving it a shot.

      It’s a great unit, I’ve found that micro tuning my hot rod just makes it sing a little more (the reason I bought it) I sort of missed the Ammoon EQ and thought why not, cheers Brad!
