    At :45:50 the artist comments that he never knew of or encountered a white artist that had to make work about being white…that white peoples have the luxury of just making art and how African Americans just making the work is a political statement. I feel that as black people we make a lot of assumptions about white people that may be just wrong. As a black person I can’t speak for white people but I feel like often times it is black people that build certain ideas in our minds that are not there or true. I think the bottom line for black people is a yearning in our own minds that white people embrace and love and cherish (etc) instead of just us accepting us ourselves. Who says that being an African American artist making art is a political statement? I think, we are not satisfied with our own no matter what the venue or accomplishments or achievements. Deep down to us it’s not good enough until white people elevate
