That revers switch is for direct drive. It's purpose is if your drag fails or is set to tight you can flip that switch and back the fish off before it breaks your line.
Great video, it helped me make a decision on it. Just a heads up, when casting, close your bail the same way you opened it, with your reeling hand. You will notice a lot less wind knots/birds nests and will help the longevity of the mechanical components. It puts a substantial amount of stress on the drive gears when you close the bail with the reel handle.
I got the 2000 6'6 centron combo for 45 bux on Black Friday. Looks awesome but it's winter so I can't try it yet. Ugh. I got that and the royal advantage 7ft med and royal glory 3000 for 65 or so!
I have the 2000 and absolutely loved it. Just wanted to check out the 500, got an idea for a really small, light tackle for spontaneous fishing or in tight places.
I just order this reel today, and I also ordered and received a kastking valiant eagle gold 4000. And absolutely love it. Haven't used it yet. But feels very good!
Great video. I am in full agreement with you about the essence or intent of this benefitial video. I am in the category of those who are only interested in procuring something decent, reasonable and reliably durable on a reasonable budget, not for vanity or competition of any kind, but for its ability to do the job expected. Thanks 👍
We need more cheeper stuff for the average guy. Good job on it. I think 60% of all fisherman need lower budget reel and rod. I find the Clarence sale at the end of the year. Got Lew's XFINITY medium light for $12 this year big difference from $55;
This reel is heavy, weighting almost 7oz! Remember, you get what you pay for. Much better option would be a little more expensive reel but MUCH smaller and MUCH lighter. I use Pflueger President XT size 20 (which has 10 ball bearings). Its only 4.9oz and I pulled some big slabs with this reel. Pflueger reel goes for about $80+. Alternatively, there is a cheaper option reel that also has 10+1 ball bearings - its called Piscifun Viper X in size 500. Weighting only 5.4 oz (much lighter than Kast King Centron) and costs $30.
I don't see much difference between the size 10 reel to the 50 size or 75 size I fish trout for 30 years. A size 10 reel is good for me for most 80% of all fishing where I live.
This was AWESOME buddy :) I am Uploading a Video as i type this with a SHOUT OUT to this Channel. Metal Detecting Community Might like this. Hope you get some Subs and the Good stuff. Love that Reel. I might try to get one now. :)

IPT is inches per turn. that is the length of line retrieved per turn of the crank arm.

That's awesome to hear!! Still loving mine as well!
Great unboxing and review! I have been looking for a spinning reel and your video has pointed me in the right direction. Subscribed!
IPT means Inches Per Turn...how much line is retrieved by one turn of the handle. Good review mate!
I have gone thru two Kastkings...both shpped with broken parts...I have gone back to Lews.
I have several ultramicro reels, and the 500 is the best that i have.

Is there a line keeper on the spool?
Yep there is
Fantastic review 🙂
I have it. Its heavy, its same size as daiwa 1000 or shimano 1000 reel size. Its hard to spin it cause its hitting hand.
🎣 Anti reverse lever,! ...
Why ask when you flipped it over,! ... 🙂 🎣
please manually put the bail back into place. Do not reel to close it. Not good for bearings and line knots.

it is okay to use in saltwater?
It is not weather sealed like some other lines so I can't say it will last a long time
Been thinking of adding this to my collection
Did you end up picking it up?
What's up with the salt?
The Vid made our local movie theater stop having their salt out for popcorn, so I bought this to sneak in and use. haha
Nice reel i got it
Rad!! Hope you love it man!
