    This is an exciting development. I'm quite eager to see how this continues to evolve. As someone who owns many sample libraries for DAW production, it's fantastic to see a more notation-centric approach to utilizing these libraries. I'm confident that the Dorico team will expand fantastically on this functionality.

    This program is so deep. I'm just getting around to implementing this with the spitfire symphony and it's blowing my mind. The way you integrated the dynamics lane to auto control CC1 but also let it be editable is so amazing. Wow guys. Wow. Integration with Cubase looks like the future! Bravo.

    Very well these advances ...Very educational video tutorial.
    I know there is the manual, but a video would be welcome on the following points:
    - In which files do we find the backups of the articulations maps personalized ; the backups of the orchestral models with these articulations ; backups of articulation maps by instrument .
    - How to find your way around and manage all this at best ,under MAc OS and under Window.

    Very good that the connection between notation and playback gets better!It was just two separate worlds and now they connect! That is the future. As a composer I just want to write the music down - which is already. a lot of work - and have the playback being as realistic as possible with the least work on this side. Today I stumbled over Noteperformer which can be used with Dorico and the results are fantastic, compared to what I am used to!

    Exceptional. This is one of those workflow enhancements that allows the creative juices to flow without unnecessary interruption. As a Cubase user, I wonder how seamlessly Dorico integrates with Cubase. For example, having VST Expression Maps shared across both applications would be very helpful. Even better would be if Dorico and Cubase do not need to run concurrently in order to leverage shared capabilities between the applications. This would result in two key benefits: (a) reduce CPU load by running the app that is the primary focus of a given session (e.g., audio recording vs. score editing); (b) leveraging an existing and shared codebase across these applications. For example, wouldn't it be great to run Dorico directly within Cubase's score editor? This use case would be helpful when one wants to rough out a score while tracking in Cubase. A composer may be more comfortable making alterations in notation rather than in DAW track events. Therefore, a round-trip editing capability for this purpose would be superb. You can see where the possibility of Cubase/Dorico integration and workflow enhancements can lead to a better end-user experience.

      We are looking at more workflow options between Dorico and Cubase, but some of the options you describe wouldn't work for everybody. For example a publisher who doesn't really need playback at all. Dorico can already import Cubase expression maps, but then has the ability to add much more useful data to them so that they are more useful to a notation program. You can also drag and drop regions between the two programs. We'll add more over time. Thank you for your comments.

    Awesome exposition of features, but the world is still missing a tutorial about how to use the techniques you mentioned. 1) Where did you get the midi switch note values you inputted in expression map settings very fluently? 2) What *is* note velocity? etc. :3

    I like this Play window better than the new version (v4). This version (v3.5) looks more professional, while the new version looks cartoonish, in my opinion.

    Is there and option that notes written in piano roll don't show in the score? If not, please consider adding that option. That way we could write detailed ornaments, short trills, glissandi etc. that would be played back, but in the score those would be represented by a symbol. Same goes for the advanced contemporary notation using lines and curves - we could edit those in piano roll to sound as we like.

    • @dorico
      @dorico  4 года назад +1

      We have had some thoughts around this, although we also need to give better options and playback for glissandi etc. In Dorico 3.5 you can now also add extra staves with notes etc in them and then hide the staff from the score but it will still playback - that might help in some of your cases in the mean time.

    3:39 Wasn't this possible already? I think you already could select the ''sfz'' and other dynamics when creating expressions maps and assign them to keyswitches? Just asking because maybe I'm missing something or I'm mistaken.

    Is there any way to make strings play pizzicato if i only bought dorico,not also symphonic orchestra?

    • @dorico
      @dorico  4 года назад +1

      The HALion Symphonic Orchestra is included with Dorico Pro. If you have SE or Elements you could load the GM Pizzicato in another slot and make an expression map to switch to that. It's not easy to explain here though. Email discoverdorico at steinberg dot de and include your Dorico project if you'd like more information.
