I purchased a large chalkboard to practice new designs on before trying it on fabric. What a tremendous help it has been! Usually, by the time I get to the fabric stage, I’ve developed muscle memory and can stitch out the designs fairly well. I’ve even used it to make my own templates for new motifs. Once I draw a perfect motif, I trace it on to template plastic. Then I can use Pounce pad to transfer it to fabric for quilting. Thanks for showing us some designs to incorporate to our quilting!

Poor choice of fabric color for viewing stitching. Feathers were especially useless as the camera angle was so far to the side you couldn't see a thing.

It does require you to have some basic tools, but you start small and add as you go along. You don't have to buy everything at once.

You don't need tons of money. I buy cheaper fabric or recycle clothing, use pretty polycotton sheets, etc
I now practice on 18 inch squares (from my scraps) then join them together in QAYG method to make throw quilts.
