I've probably watched this video around 20 times just to catch all of the moves. The only one that still kind of gives me trouble is the part where he makes the rope into a full loop, but I just noticed how that one is done as well.
I know how he does it, I've seen how this is done, and I still CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME see anything when Mac performs this. Simply on a whole new level of amazing.
I've seen Mac King live, twice, and it's even better than it looks in this video. And it's a third of the price of most Vegas shows. Can't miss this one folks!
Absolutely superb sleight of hand. If you google around you can find out how he does it, but that takes nothing away from his magnificent talent to be ABLE to fool us.
@@IanK-Minecraftit was fun watching Penn and Teller watch his act, cuz they know the business in and out. Both *know* how this trick is done but struggle to see Mac’s tells while doing it.
I watched Mac King's Comedy Magic Show back in 2010 at age 10. When I was at his show, he actually invited me on stage to be Opie Taylor from the Andy Griffith Show for one of his magic tricks! He had me check out this tent and make sure there were no trap doors or compartments, then he showed me how he used a fishing pole. All of a sudden, this guy in a bear costume jumped out of the tent without warning and roared at me, scaring me to death. His show was so funny. I'll remember it for the rest of my life. Mac King is one of the best magicians ever.
The best I can tell is this - He uses the original rope all the way through to the very end, until he says he's going to cut it to pieces. He pulls out the scissors and quickly moves a new rope already covered in knots from one hand to the other and starts cutting to pieces the original rope. Notice how stuffed of knots his hand is, even after letting loose the rope. It's because he's still got the original rope in it. Even when he pulls the knots off, there are WAY more in the first handful than the second handful. Plus you can see it the final rope looks bent out of shape like it was sitting balled up for a while. I had to watch this SEEEEVERAL times, but I think that's gotta be it. He is a master of the craft, without a doubt.
Watching at 1/4 speed, I've figured everything out, but he's so smooth that even though I know the moves he's doing I can't actually see him doing most of them at full speed - I just know they're there. Incredible sleight of hand artist.
this guy has got the fastest hands i've ever seen. his sleight of hand is absolutely impeccable! the amount of time this guy must've spent doing this trick? well - it was worth it. fantastic trick!
OMG, I love your cut and restored rope routine, I can follow you up until the end when you were cutting the rope into multiple small pieces. I am completely lost at that point.
I bought the Fiber Optics rope trick by Richard Sanders.....and some of that routine is in this (or visa versa), and I could recognize it, although Mac King is very quick and skilled at it....So, I can follow him up to a point, but that last bit where he cuts the rope and restores it with all the pop knots....Wow! Spectacular. That's where he loses me....He probably made a substitution there, but....I'll be damned if I can spot it...I would LOVE to know how to do this.
Ok, I had to replay it back a couple times but I see now where he makes the substitution of the prepared rope for the ending...It's when he reaches into his pocket to get the scissors...He pulls out a ball of rope which he has palmed and quickly puts it into his left hand with his scissors hand, in the same motion he goes to cut the rope...Just amazing skill.....
My next question was, how does he ditch all the pieces that he really does cut up at the end? Well......he throws them at the camera at the same time he removes all those knots from the prepared rope...Very clever....Ends clean...nobody will count the actual pieces on the ground.
@Smoke DeGrasse Tyson Fiber Optics is an awesome trick...I do that at family gatherings and it's just instant entertainment. It's amazing what you can do with three pieces of rope...I like the Mac King version though where you are actually cutting it....It's more organic that way.....Although the stretching illusion is more impressive with three pieces. He's actually using a small piece and a large piece that he does cut from one piece of rope which requires really sharp scissors which is how he cut his thumb off in front of a live audience one time.......Sometimes the old classics are the best. Pop Hadyn has a great version of that as well that he's done for years.
I think he starts with 2 extra pieces which he cuts and cuts till the part of the disappearing knot (look at his hands, they are always hiding the "union") The go around part looks like he is turning the rope but is standing still and for the final part he reaches for his pocket for a new rope. Amazingly well executed, it seems that the beginning is the hardest part.
I saw him do this trick in front of me this past 4th of July in Vegas. I was switching my positions in the theater….Still no idea… I even took a piece of rope as a momento!
someone please. you have to teach me that. I freakin beg. I need to know how the hell t=he does it. I know the regular rope trick but this was fantastic
ok, i think there is only one rope the whole time plus the extra bits that make it look like he cuts the rope and stuff. he doesn't actually cut it but is made to look like he cuts it. you can see the string never actually loses length. you can see also some of the ends aren't the same diameter of rope if you pause and look closely. probably to remind him which end is which but barely noticeable to audience. how does he do the loop though? magnetics? XD :53 he isn't moving the rope in a circle, but is actually making it look that way by rotate his other hand like that as his one hand holds the ropes together.
There is some kind of handoff at 1:22 when he reaches in his pockets for scissors and hands off more rope or something to his other hand. But it still does not explain much.
@1:19 he reaches in his pocket to pull out the scissor. Watch in 0.25 speed - he pulls out another piece of rope along with the scissor. Having said that... he's still one of the best rope trick magicians I've ever seen. Kudos.
I can usually spot sleight of hand stuff but this trick is truly baffling. This guy is an OG so I'm not surprised he works this so well. He took this trick to the next level. Looks like fucking sorcery. *Edit, actually I see how it's done. He is using some really good sleight of hand and subtle misdirection. Man that is an amazing performance.
There's some pretty easy things to spot if you slow it down. At 0:33, for instance, he has one long rope that's folded in half, with the center in his left hand. He's also holding two short lengths of rope in his left hand, which gives the illusion that he's holding two separate ropes. Then, he transfers the two short ropes to his right hand and releases the center of the long rope, making it appear that the separate ropes were combined.
This is the one magician that deserves billions of views ! A master 👏👏👍🏼
😊
I came to watch this because Penn says Teller has never been able to spot how he does it.. awesome.
same
same, and I can't spot it either
whoever Penn is... I guess he's not smart enough anyway
Facepalm!
I've probably watched this video around 20 times just to catch all of the moves. The only one that still kind of gives me trouble is the part where he makes the rope into a full loop, but I just noticed how that one is done as well.
that was knot bad
oh fuck u lol
I'd rather knot
can you just knot
You did KNOT just say that...
dis is knot funny anymore

I know how he does it too. I spent years studying it and trying to replicate it. I just can't though. He is truly amazing
Such a beautiful performance. And such a smart way to end up clean. Love it.
I remember seeing him once at Just for laughs. Imo he's never gotten the recognition he deserves but as you can see, he's kinda a legend :)
Mac leaves a smile on my face every time I watch him perform.
I've seen Mac King live, twice, and it's even better than it looks in this video. And it's a third of the price of most Vegas shows. Can't miss this one folks!

Uh where
Yes.. you need the instructions.. and 30 years of practice :D
@@Tecom38415 The instructions re out there on reddit actually but they don't make it any less amazing.
What. The. Actual. Fuck
lol that was exactly what i said out loud when i got done watching it

Nope. I actually know how to do the first one. It's not that hard to do, just hard to figure out.

Good job dissecting the animal, lol
I know every move and trick he does and I am so impressed with this routine. There is so much going on. Well done.
I don't know how it is done, and I don't want to know. This is pure entertainment ...done very well. Thank you Mac King!
Very entertaining comedy magic. I've had the pleasure of attending the show twice. His "cloak of invisibility" routine is hilarious.

How do you slow down a RUclips video?
Click the gear in the bottom-right corner to open video settings. The setting in the middle should be speed.
Thank you very much!

My family and I seen him in LV and we totally LOVED his performance. He was amazing! Check him out if you ever get the opportunity.
Mac is one of the best in the world, but by far the best comedy magician in the world 🌎
Yeah the color of the handle of the scissors blend in with the rope, clever.
Very knotty indeed. He was stringing me along. How did I get roped into this? That's enough.
knotty boy!
I need those scissors though.
you can just sharpen yours..
Trap Music NOW. Just heard Mac tell about the time he cut his finger during this trick :)
you have 2.7 million subscribers, how do you get time for this :P

very very nice and fluent performance. GREAT!
An incredible trick and an endearing performer.
Easily the best show I saw in Las Vegas.
holy smokes in the morning! this trick is absolutely fantastic! and this guys hands are faster than light!
nice slight of hand but I saw it all! I can see the switches and the placements. Love this guy though!
Yeah, he's really, really good, but you can see the switches in slo-mo.
Beautifully done
Just watched how the basic rope trick works, but this? This is on a completely different level.
Brilliant. And Teller can't figure it out.
I could see a few things by going frame by frame, but even then it revealed how deft some of the maneuvers are. Right in front of our eyes...
Wow, amazing performance :)
absolutely superb! fantastic. it blew my brain apart!
Good tricks never get old. Thanks.

This is a pro. No swaying, no studdering, and he makes corny jokes funny.
The way he strings you along though......
my brain. I've watched so much Fool Us and videos explaining magic tricks and my mind still cannot understand where or how he inserts things.
And Teller hates this one, huh. Good reason. It's fast, length isn't lost for what rope looks to be lost/discarded... Good one!
wow. that is magic. dam good trick!!!
Love it! I love being fooled, do it again!!!! :)
awesome piece of magic there! :D

Epor, Epor, Epor... You got it!! It seems to be some sort of magic word!!

Dang. Dang dang... How..wha?... Dang.

UN PHÉNOMÈNE
If you look close right when he kinda crosses one hand over the other you can see it's majik

Are you sure that it is not real magic?
the rope has layers like an onion, thats the key on the final trick(and a fake scissors)
what kind of knot does he tie at 1:12 ? I can do all except that.
Where can I buy that magic scissors
He get the new rope when he put the scissor in his pocket.
Excellent
Great trick.
How is he doing this?
