"Do your art for you." Simple, but great advice!
Roxy was my favorite through the whole show, I'm sad that she didn't win but at the same time agree with the judges that her last photo wasn't as good as the ones she's been taking up until now. The model's dress did not flatter her and the direction for her posing could have been more pleasing to the eye. Scott's last picture was the best I've seen from him, but over all I think Roxy did a better job.
I am so glad this show exists. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A REAL PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION FOR A LONG TIME.
Great job everyone.
hyacinthdibley ME TOO OMG
This competition is okay imo, go check DigitalRevTv's one. Probably the best Photography Competition out there on youtube.
Very cool and surprised to find a reality show about photography. Would love to see a larger pool of photographers (i.e. 10) to start and more episodes. I don't think this pool of 5 proved out to produce the "top photographer". Maybe the top out of the 50 applicants... Otherwise, thanks for putting this together. It was enjoyable to watch a show about something you love to do!
I reckon if 20,000 views an episode topped their targets the next season will have a bigger pool. This was probably a test season to see how popular it was :)
I agree. I figure that having only 5 contestants and having each episode (on RUclips anyway. I'm not sure if this actually aired on TV or not) being 21 Minutes was a way of testing the waters for such a type of show. For some reason I NEVER watch competitive type shows (Americas Next Top Model, Top Chef...) because, well, they don't interest me. But I am a lover of photography and I accidentally discovered Top Photographer and loved each episode!
Hopefully Season 2 extends it to 10 Photographers and maybe a longer run time.
I do think it has a different flavor of reality T.V. compared to the History channel “Photo Face off” which is not interesting to me because they try to make it too extreme and is geared to promote National Geographic.
That’s because this was a pilot. I really hope they do it again
After seeing what they did on their last shoot, I believe they chose poorly the final photo, both of them had better images with better composition and represented their different style in a strong way. As someone said to me, one picture can ruin a complete series, even if the rest are masterpieces. But still congrats to Scott and Roxy for making it to the end.
Omar Sierralta right ! They had other pictures winning pictures why choose the ones you got like ahhh but they were both great they did the best that they could and they are both very talented
But they both accurately stuck to an idea they were looking for in the final, with limited options only daylight and reflectors...call an assistant or a model the option I am sure was theirs to make.
Omar Sierralta 100% agree
ikr!!!!
I knew it Scott would be the winner! Congrats scott!
Dear Nigel Barker,
This is exactly what I've been looking for a long time and finally you've decided to release this show. Can't wait for season 2!
I'm happy Scott made it to the finals. Great photographer!
Much appreciations to Adorama, Nigel Barker and all the participants,it has been a nice journey
Thank goodness Scott won. His shot was lightyears better than Roxy's. Roxy was the hosts favorite but that was the only reason she made it to the final episode. It should of been down to Scott and Jamiya! I'd love to have seen what Jamiya would of done for his shot in NY.
Allen Freeman i could not agree more...
This dude is full of him self, the whole game was unfair from day one... the Roxi girl should have been eliminated formthe the 2nd round.
They cant pretend one type of photographer (landscape) to come out and prpduce a fashion shot...
the whole program is a joke.
@@kalelissuperman agree its like a singing contest you got all styles of people but want the classical singer to sing the rock round .scott did have the better final image and i think they was looking for who progressed to that end and become better. Roxi just went the other way, anyone could have taken her last shot
I actually found the entire series of TP to be a very emotional reflection. Starting my career at the age of 15, shooting both news and fashion to only walk away from it at the age of 30 for a successful 26 year career in IT management. Watching this series exposed what a career in ones and zeros can never could and that was what I still feel in my heart. Those young shooter may not have that perfect skill set just yet. But they do have hunger and excitement. Thats something I hope they never loose. Please keep this series going.
I thought the Roxy's NY Landscape picture looked like a mistake as well and I did not like the pose of her model in the last challenge. Roxy's first picture was definitely in my opinion her best one... Scott did horrible in the first challenge I thought that his picture was underexposed... I agree with the Judges decision in picking Scott as the winner. His work was a bit more consistent. Congrats Scoot.
Bayardo A Rugama Well said. This show would have been better if they didn't eliminate the others so quick and if they judged them all at the end instead.
precisely
so true...
Bayardo A Rugama haha read this just before they announced the winner 😂😂 tho I agree
I was surprised they didn't make a bigger deal of Roxy's first comp shot having all sort of lighting equipment in it. Reminds you sometimes things when starting out you do your best to avoid can be alright.
Hope you continue this series. I really liked it.
Very nice finale. I just wished that in the end... The "Top Photographer" was judged by Top Photographers to be the winner vs. "Titans" in the fashion industry. This wasn't a Top "Fashion/Beauty" Photography Show. (Or was it...???)
Make more shows like this one.
You guys should definitely do a Top Cinematographer series!
I love that they created a competition like this. I used to watch America's Top Model not because I was into modeling but because I was into photography, and I used to love watching the photographers due their work and seeing the results. This for sure is going to help me get better with my pictures. Can wait for the next season!!
Bring him back to Season 2 and let him defend his championship. Let's see how he progresses.
Holy shit that's actually a cool idea!
Scott had the better final picture. But if i was to hire a photographer, i would definitely hire Roxy.
Spot on, great show guys. I think that was a great choice.
i was just getting into photography with my new Nikon D80. back when top model was on around 8 or 10 years ago. and i loved watching the moments you could see the photographer work with the model. but you didnt see much of the photographer on the show. so i always wished there could be a show like top model that was more about the photographer. so im happy to see this show. but i didnt think any of the photographers were special. Scotts last shoot was good but he didnt pick his best shot. and she didnt pick her best shot from the last shoot either. but even her first shot from the first shoot looked like a cell phone shot. hopefully the next show has better photographers.
photographerjonathan
photographerjonathan I have to agree, in final episode they didn't pick their best shot. Probably the pressure.
photographerjonathan I agree 100% with everything you said. They didn't choose their best shot and love the intersection between model and photographer on top model. As a novice photographer I didn't learn anything from this show. Hopefully they do better the next round.
Yeah, Scott didn't pick his best shot, I preferred the one they flashed on screen that was the same as his final one but the hair was far better in it. But at least Scott was in the right ballpark. I think Roxie panicked with 1200 shots, some of them very good but none of them stand-out stunning. She shold have picked a stand out location and then worked with a model from there.
congrats Scott! Roxy, I love your shots, too :)
Adorama should try to bring this show back on a channel like Discovery.
Just incredible programme! Looking forward to see next season!
Well i watched every episode so i can't say i dont like the show. I think if the completion is going to include every round's picture, you should just keep all the competitors on til the end. I would love to compete on this show. Being self taught, I'm surprised at the lack of knowledge some of these contestants had.
Loved this series, please make season 2!
I was really rooting for Roxie. Congrats Scott!!!
Big Congrats. I want more
terrible final shot by her
tidesofkali I guess she was trying too hard to be different? That final shot did have lots of problems. I thought her shots by the worn out storefronts were better, but still not as great as what Scott was doing that day.
congrats
I really liked this series and hope you are able to do a season two. My only gripe is that it would be great if the photographers could use the camera of choice and not just Canon. Maybe you just need more camera companies to sponsor this???
Ben Deckert Ha! True! They should of been able to use their own equipment if they choose. (See shooting in JPG mistake as racked up to using unfamiliar camera. And early on one couldn't find autofocus settings)
Nicely produced mini-series. The ordering of the photographers for the first challenge isnt a level playing field however. Would be better if they all started at the same time, so that no one had an advantage to plan, or have more time with the golden hour. Would like to see the judges use a blind scoring, so that the judges don't know whose image they are judging to eliminate bias. Likewise, the judging could use some categorical weighting.... technical excellence, creativity, story, styling etc. overall, it is a good concept.
I agree...good idea but like others have said...the format needs to change. I like the blind judging idea. I did not like the first episode and immediately someone leaves. I'd like to have seen more of all the participants. If the first challenge was more unscripted that would have let us see more of and learn more about the photographers.
Bob Shurtleff Blind scoring is a great idea. (If they are all at same location.)
Blind scoring is probably a good idea. I think it tripped Roxie up in the end, she panicked and tried to give them a 'Roxie' photo, which is really a phrase they coined and that I doubt she would have been so concerned about at the start of the comp, before it was said about 50 times.
I love this show and the way Scott won at the end (instead of Roxy, the host's favorite) makes me confident that this show is fair and wasn't compromised. Please make a second season.
Congratulations to both! Good luck Scott with your exhibition. Thank you Nigel and Adorama for this series. Hopefully we will see season 2 next year!
Congrats Scott and Roxy for making it to the top. Congrats Scott on winning it!
Yeees!!! Scott you are a legend!!
WOW. I am so obsessed with this show and will continue to watch every season that is produced. I love it because through watching these photographers, I am able to learn more about the different aspects of my craft, even without going into that specific part of the field. Congratulations Scott. You did so well.
Well deserved to the winner, stunning last photo. As for the show, really great production. Congratulations Adorama.
I thought this reality show focusing on our profession was incredible. Without a doubt, it made me see the importance of understanding all areas of photography and increasingly practicing my creativity and intensifying my study with light. 🇧🇷
I love you both! Congrats Scott - I LOOOOVVVED your final image.
Well deserved Scott.
This is a great show... I can't wait for more.
My thoughts about the show.
I'm quite happy that someone moved their ass to really make this "masterchef" kind of show for Photography.
For a first time, for experiemnts was ok, but it felt small, a lil bit amateurish production overall. I would like to see a bigger show, with more photographers, more challenges, and more creative ones! I think it lacked at some point in creativity, not just the challenges, but also the production of the show. It was everytime the same comp. There were no "surprises", nothing that really caught me wowing or unexpected.
ON THE OTHER HAND, people passionate like the ones you had there, and nigel giving tips here and there, also made my head seem like an engine at full speed with ideas and places and lines and light and wtv! So it transmited REALLY GOOD things!!
Thanks for making this a real thing! I hope there is more! :)
Cheers for all, from Portugal :)
bravo Scott, Bravo Roxy. Bonne continuation !
This was great! I loved this whole series.
I was surprised at the backwards lens hoods, even when outdoors. I'm no pro (and couldn't make it on such a show), but when I see that, the first thing I think is serious newbie.
Daniel Fazzari Ha! I saw that too! Right when you would need a lens hood.
thank you adorama, we are waiting next season in different shoot.
Ok PLEASE do another season. This was AMAZING. Thanks Adorama for creating such cool and inspiring content!!
Please, please, please make more of these!
Super happy for the winner! Was hoping they'd win. And good response from second place; really positive attitude.
Great Show!
Please please please keep doing these! My favorite series on your channel
They were judged on all their shoots. I agree with that. However, the other contestants that were kicked off early should absolutely have also been their until the end. All the contestants should have been able to do all of the shoots.
Congrats
Awesome show. Congratulations to Scott. He did a good job.
OMG !!!! What an awesome show !!1 Im looking forward to Next season !!!
Roxy=be yourself
Scott=professional
Awesome!!! So excited for this!!
I've learned so much from this series , Thanks Adorama
Didn't expect so solid thoughts from a model. Coco. Excited!
Yay! Congratulations Scott!
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 such a cool show. Looking froward to more seasons.
Great little series, can't wait for season 2!
Love your work both!! Just keep swimming!! just keep swimming!! =D
love this show. can't wait for season 2
I really like this show, And I hope they do next season!
Great ideia, great job ! Congratulations ! I hope that you make more episodes like this ! It´s amazing !
I'm excited to see what becomes of Roxy as a photographer.
Very enjoyable! Hope there will be a season 2.
Great show. I love the way you encourage all the photographers and him them build their passion and body of work. Congratulations to you all!
love this show
A great initiative by Nigel. Loved the competition. Thanks to Canon, Adorama and Nigel and the photographers including all who associated with the show.
A warm congrats to Scott - bright future ahead mate :)
you're going to be huge Roxy!
Would love another round of top photog!!
great show. loved every minute of it...
Thanks Nigel and all the crew for this kind of events.
Wish Scott had picked the photo where she had her hands above her head and her body curved with the building. That shot was BEAUTIFUL 💯
waiting too long for this one :D ty Nigel for making this possible.
Good job Adorama, I really enjoyed watching this series, please make more!
It's about time we had a PHOTOGRAPHY competition!!! I love this! Very enjoyable...good work shout out to all these competitors!
Amazing show, with amazing photographers, and an awesome host. Thank you, and I hope to see more competition in the future. Great job.
Such a great series! Congrats Scott!!
Scott, yay! I knew Roxy wasn't gonna win lol
Thanks Adorama for putting this show together. It was entertaining and it was cool to see a photography tv style competition.
I really loved this show! Looking forward to the next one. :)
Jeez, Nigel, take your time announcing the decision - It's only been a week lol.
Great show. Scott did the best overall in final images, that's why he won. It appears these photographers are self taught like a lot of us, which makes me believe 2 of the judges should of been highly educated photographers with an industry client as the 3rd judge. I look forward to season 2.
I would like to see more and longer episodes as well as more education offered during the shoots and editing process given by a professinal mentor. Come on Cable TV: VH1, E!, Oxygen or someone, pick this show up and give it the budget it deserves.
Ready for more and I would love to be a contestant.
Still in shock, I wasn't expecting the last 2 entries. They looked as if they were from the 2nd episode entries..
Congrats, Scott! Well deserved. Big fan.
Great show, really enjoyed this series.
Gratz Scott. Agree with this decision, Roxy has her style and moments but overall, Scott is the better one.But I still doubt if others has the chance to shoot through the whole competition.
Great job by all contestants! Congratulations Scott, well deserved win, keep rocking out!
Really enjoyed this series, and how a picture is made by the photographer, not the camera (except issue of jpeg vs raw).
bi1iruben It is true that one should shoot in RAW if they know they will be working on the image later. But if you get a good exposure and don't have to edit it as much, no one would ever know if you shot it in RAW or not. (That said I've only shot in RAW, for last 11 years or so.)
SEASON 2 RIGHT. NOW.
This has been awesome to watch, great show!!
Very inspiring to watch! Thanks!
Great show. Congratulations, Scott. Thank you, Roxy. This will become a story to tell via your future successes.
Keep doing what you do so well. Being you.
What a let down for both final images. Scott's was definitely the better of the two, but still.
Season 2 please with at least 10 photographers. More power ❤
Please, another series soon! Wonderful! (I would try to have photographers who work in the same area... fashion, food, landscape, etc in each episode so it's not so colored by the photographers expertise and what the challenge happens to be
looking forward to the next season of this.
